Lush Yummy Mummy Shower Gel Review

This super shimmery shower gel will have you turning heads (and noses!). Geranium oil, Brazilian orange oil and tonka absolute are expertly blended together to create one of our most intoxicating, yet delicate, fragrances Yummy Mummy. Fruity, sweet and dashed with a hint of luster, this shower gel will leave skin unimaginably soft and smelling like scrumptious strawberries. It’s well deserving of its name!

Why be limited??

I actually made it into a lush shop rather than just online shopping and thank goodness I did because this was something I kept looking at online but was worried about how it would actually smell. I got the big 500ml of this shower gel as it was the only size left I did feel slightly uneasy buying such a big bottle, lucky I like it!

The colour of this is like deep pastel purple with lots of fairy dust (lustre, glitter) but you do have to give the bottle a good shake to mix everything up otherwise the fairy dust sits at the bottom of the bottle. The scent? To me it's like strawberries and cream a perfect balance of the strawberries and cream mixed together and luckily this scent lingers on the skin for hours after shower time. It lathers up only slightly but I don't need lashings of bubbles and a good lather Just as long as I feel clean. It says on the bottle you can also use it to wash your hair but I haven't been that game because I love my current hair routine.

Like all Lush products its non drying on the skin and my skin feels soft and clean after using it. I have dry skin so it's always good when my skin doesn't feel Sahara desert dry after a shower. My only gripe with this shower gel is it 'limited edition' why Lush why? Something so yummy and its limited edition! It's the only time I feel like a yummy mummy!

OMG - totally agree with your 'limited edition' comment! I sooo hope they bring it back, and soon. For some stupid reason I had a play with it in store, but didn't buy it. Major sad face!

So Scrummy, Yummy Mummy Cream

After reading the reviews on Yummy Mummy shower gel I decided I had to try it when/if Lush included it in this years Mothers Day Limited Edition items... they kind of did? Its a shower cream not a gel but the image and description are the same, So this review is for the shower cream.

I bought the 250g bottle and the purple colour is gorgeous, creamy lilac (grape-y colour) with silver luster flecked all through it. The shower cream itself is thicker than I thought it would be and certainly like a creamy shower gel. It looks like a product I had as a child but I think I am thinking of a peel-off nail polish... the shimmery flecks through out give a nice depth to the product. The scent... at first I wasn't sure of it so I let it sit a little while until I used up my shower product, then I smelled it again and... Oh so much in love with it, it's heavenly strawberries and cream, with a hint of vanilla, which makes me think strawberries dipped in chocolate... simply divine and not over-powering.

It lathers nicely on my shower puff and my skin feels soft and not grippy or over cleansed.

I am kicking myself for not stocking up, but then again I have so many shower gels at the moment, I could probably last until next year with what I have on hand... oops (I am not addicted to Lush... ok I am)

Yummy even when you're not a mummy :)

I had seen this come into the shops when I was in Australia and so when it made it to NZ later that month I had to try it. Lush Yummy Mummy Shower Gel is one of their limited edition products, this time for Mothers Day.

The gel comes in the standard Lush clear-with-a-black-cap bottle, and as always the caps on these are recyclable. I personally re-use the smaller sized bottles for gym/travel etc shower gel bottles as they are the perfect size.

Yummy Mummy is a very pretty purple shower gel. The colour is very deep for a pale shade and has an almost opalescent gleam to it, and a layer of shimmer in the bottom that when you shake it up a bit enhances that glow even further. It's quite thick for a shower gel, but because of that is fairly luxurious in feel. This shower gel cleans and scents your skin, leaving it soft and feeling pampered. Lush do shower gel incredibly well, and it says a lot that you can also use it on your hair- clearly these are not products based around harsh soaps and chemicals.

The scent is a sweet-spicy floral, reminiscent of a sweet musk (reminds me a little of the Body Shop White Musk but sweeter and a bit more intense). While is is quite an intense scent, much of the intensity washes away with the product leaving a faint aroma of flowers and spice.

I would purchase this again potentially, but it's by no means my favourite Lush Shower Gel. It's lovely but I prefer their Snow Fairy, Prince Charming, and Happy Hippy.

Tips: Layer with the matching body conditioner for a really great scent

Not for this mummy!

I got this for a lovely mama's day gift from my friend. At the time Lush wasn't something I was aware of so was a bit meh about it. I got the 100g bottle among other goodies. I was first drawn in by the colour, its lilac like colour called to me.

I have to say when I found out how much it costs, I was dumbfounded being left wondering how can something be so expensive and so little?! Well I soon found out why Lush was so expensive (love heart eyes).

I dove straight in and used a small amount on loofah. It was very rich and creamy and filled my shower with the overpowering scent of strawberries and a tang of something citrusy. Almost tart like if that makes sense. I wasn't overly in love with the smell at first but had to try this expensive stuff. I lathered up and was almost instantly covered in creamy flubbles and shimmer woooow. It was gorgeous and satin feeling BUT the smell!!! It was a sickening smell and I had to get rid of it quick.

Being called Yummy Mummy I really expected it to be far more sweet and sultry not just sweet. I have to say the lid isn't my fave either. Every time I opened it my nail would flake or break off....annoying!! I do however, love that Lush is cruelty free and recycle using recycled plastic for the packaging.

I ended up using it for my son instead, he loves the sweet smell so it became his. Lucky for him the shower cream/gel was gentle on his skin. He has eczema which flares up from harsh chemical full bath and shower products so it was a joy that this worked for him. So a positive is it's great for sensitive and irritated skin. Otherwise no thanks!

Tips: If you love strawberries and tart smell go hard this is for you!

More like Yucky Mummy

I was sent a really generous sample of this from my wonderful friend Pintsize, and I was happy enough. I didn't have to buy a shower gel I had never smelled before.

This gel shares its scent with other "famous" Lush products like D'Fluff shaving cream and the Strawberry Feels Forever massage bar. It's a strawberry scent, mostly, with other smells thrown in making it less strawberry and more... I'm not quite sure.

The color of the gel is what I love most, it's a lovely color of creamy purple, adorned with billions of flakes of lustre. It lathers really well on my gloves and makes me feel clean. I just can't get past the smell, I can handle it in the massage bar, barely, and in the shaving cream but as a gel and being engulfed in it in the shower, it's just a no go. So, it's lovely, but not my kind of lovely.

You are Yummy!

During mothers day period I picked up a Mum box. I got it because there was heaps of products in it that I wanted to try out. Specially this one. So far I've tried alot of Lush shower gels and I really want to try more out.

The bottle I recieved was a 100 ml. A small sized bottle thats clear with your typical black and white labbeling. Easy to read and follow guide. This gel is purple and is creamy and medium in texture. This scent reminds me of sweet fruits mixed with creamy vanilla. I find this scent subtly sweet and not sickly sweet.

When I use this with a shower puff it foams up nicely. Leaving my skin feeling clean and soft. This scent lingers in my shower leaving it smelling sweet and clean.

After using this shower gel The only regret I have is not buying a bigger size because it smells really good. I think its priced fairly. One small bottle has lasted over a month and theres plenty of uses remaining. I would happily buy this again. I wish this wasn't limited edition because its really good.

This yummy mummy needs to stick around!

This was a limited edition for Mother's Day. I only got the smallest bottle so I have been using it sparingly since then.

It comes in the usual Lush shower gel packaging: a clear round bottle, black and white label along with a use by sticker telling you who made it, and a black flip top lid. It is a lovely opaque lilac in colour with an added lustre. I can never seem to get the lustre mixed into any of the Lush shower gels. Despite a good shake it always seems to sit at the bottom of the bottle looking like a separated ingredient that shouldn't be there at all.

Lush describe this as strawberries and cream scented although it has more warmth and depth to it than that. The ingredients list reveal nothing strawberry related at all. Maybe it's the geranium that I'm attracted to (which is also in Prince Charming, the Valentine's Day limited edition) It's more strongly scented in the bottle than on the skin. I use it with a shower puff and it lathers up well (I probably use too much). It leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth, even more so after I applied the matching body conditioner. Which, by the way was divine - I went through two tubs of that.

I love Lush shower gels. They're not cheap but now whenever I buy a supermarket brand, I instantly regret not buying Lush instead. But my favourites are always limited editions! I will definitely buy this and the body conditioner again if they release them next year.

Tips: Good luck finding this now! Hopefully it will be back next year.
