Lush You Snap the Whip Body Butter Review

Hardcore body scrub and butter bar to show skin how to behave. It’s black, fruity and it scrubs your skin really, really hard. Get soaked in the shower and start your punishment. You Snap The Whip forces your skin to submit to its pumice and charcoal regime. Once the wickedly effective exfoliation is over, it comforts you with luxurious macadamia nut oil and scents you with fruity blackcurrant and bergamot essential oils. Your skin feels as if you’ve just peeled off the old one and revealed a sexy new one (which you have, in a manner of speaking).

Omg Comforter in a Body Butter

When I heard that Lush had a Body Butter that smelt just like Comforter, I knew I had to try it. I was lucky enough to be able to purchase through a friend.

This is not your normal looking body butter, for a start it is black (something that I really liked) and it is in a solid form as opposed to a liquid/lotion type consistency.

The smell is amazing, exactly like Comforter which is my favourite all time scent from Lush. You just apply it to your skin while in the shower, pretty simple really.

A couple of negative points regarding this body butter 1) Your whole body turns black when using it. However it does wash off providing you don't leave it on your skin for too long. 2) For such a nice sized bar, it melts pretty quick and doesn't last that long at all. 3) I didn't find it very moisturising for my skin :-(

Would I buy again? Of course its a Comforter scent after all lol, sadly however, it is no longer available in New Zealand to buy.

Lush You Snap the Whip - Body Butter/Scrub

I bought this when I did a Boxing Day Lush haul because I really liked the blackcurrant scent and also I was intrigued with the idea of a scrub and body butter in one. I'm not a huge fan of bergamot but the blackcurrant scent takes center stage in the scent. This little grey bar melts forms a bluish grey light lather/paste on your skin which you then rub on your skin to let the little bits of pumice and charcoal buff and smooth out your skin. The cocoa butter and macadamia oil leave your skin with a very, very light layer of moisture, which is still there when you rinse off. The charcoal and pumice feels really fine and gentle similar a coffee scrub but maybe a touch more gentle than that. It's gentler than some facial scrubs I've used. After buffing my skin and letting the oils and butter absorb my skin felt soft. I definitely enjoyed this tiny scrub bar on my skin but however I did come across a few cons. Firstly you don't get a lot of use out of this bar, this bar melts really fast so you need to use it somewhat sparingly if you're concerned about the price. Secondly, it uses laureth-4 which the coffee scrubs I'm using don't have or need and I happen to be someone who likes her beauty products as natural as conveniently possible. Third, and I found this out later if the bar is left anywhere hot, it melts. The bar will leave a grey mess in the shower after use but it's easily rinsed down and coffee scrubs do the same thing so I don't particularly care about that. I liked the scent but unfortunately it didn't linger. I guess if this on Boxing Day sales I would buy it but considering how much use I got out of the bar I wouldn't want to pay full price for it.

Tips: If you like rougher body scrubs this probably isn't up your alley. If you do get this make sure you keep it in a dish or container where it sits out of water and can dry. And don't leave it anywhere where the sunlight hits or it's hot or the bar will melt. If you would like to get as many uses out of it as you can, I would recommend letting it dry in between uses, storing it out of the shower and not having the water run on your while you apply it to your skin as the bar will melt much faster.

So conflicted. . .

It breaks my heart to give just three kisses here but I feel like i need to mark it down.

This product is simply gorgeous. I love it. It's an unassuming charcoal coloured gritty block of amazing. It smells incredible, it leaves my skin awesome, and its fun to use.

Why the low rating then? It doesn't last :"(

Lush 'You Snap The Whip' is actually a body scrub and butter IN ONE. The concept is pure genius, and the pricetag, at first glance, not OTT.

The scent is very similar to 'The Comforter' shower cream, which I adore - easily one of my fave Lush goodies. The charcoal is good for your skin. The gritty particles in the bar polish your skin without making it feel like you're rubbing yourself with sandpaper, and the oils and butters in the formula leave skin feeling, looking and smelling totally divine.

But.... I get about 4 uses per bar. I use this on arms, legs, back, and feet, and only get 4 uses. Sure, I could restrict where I use it, but it's so good that I want it to be used everywhere.

So, I'm conflicted. On the one hand, this is holy grail. On the other, I'm not made of money. Lush, why do you do this to meeee?????

Sigh.

Tips: Try it, it's amazing. But be warned; it won't last. xx

Kinda nutty and like a health food shop lol. It's got Adzuki beans in it. Smells like Japanese washing grains from the Body Shop from back in the day.

Yeah no longer on their website. I only tried it once, when they sent me a whole one in an order as a RAOK. Try Buffy instead.

Really? I only got it a few weeks ago, must have been the last batch x

I believe Lush have discontinued this. I agree about how quickly it disappears. The Buffy appears to last longer to me.

Smells Amazing

I'm sad that this product it being discontinued. Its one of my favourite from lush. The bar itself is a deep blue/black and smells exactly like blackcurrent. When i use it in the shower i wash myself with soap first then i use the snap the whip bar as a body butter (kind of works like christingle or ros argan) The texture has exfoliation beads in it so it helps scrub dead skin off plus all the oils in it soaks into your skin making it feel soft and smooth plus you smell delicious afterwards and no need to moisterise!

Tips: Bit pricey at $18.50 a bar. Dont run the bar directly under the water because it wastes the product
