In the past month or two, I have gone from a Lush Virgin, to a Lush addict. And the sugar scrub from lush is one of the new products I have added to my collection.
The sugar scrub comes in a half circle dome, and is a green in colour. The scrub is a decent size and fits really well in my hand, making it easy to hold in the bath/shower and the texture. I have to admit I really like the texture and the graininess of this product. It is advertised as a sugar scrub, and that’s exactly what it is, it gentle enough of skin, but it gets the job done with a nice, large sugar granules.
I have to say, after using this scrub, my skin felt like butter. It was so smooth and felt so good without being hard and damaging or hurting my skin. I haven’t noticed a change in my cellulite, but I don’t have much cellulite so maybe that’s why?
One negative about this product is that it can’t get wet. This might seem reasonable, but really if you’re having a shower or a bath, the idea that a slip of the hand will make you watch as you sugar scrub dissolves in front of you and gets washed done the drain is so unappealing to me. Unfortunately, even if this scrub doesn’t get left under running water, even if it just gets a little wet from the water off your skin, or if some water trickles down your arms and gets to the scrub, it starts dissolving which sucks because it is extremely unrealistic for a product to not get a touch of water of it when it’s a shower/bath product and for this reason I find it very unappealing to repurchase this product, even though it makes my skin feel great. Additionally, after i used this scrub and it got slightly wet (from the water from my skin), i put it into a container to keep it safe and fresh. When i next went to use it, it had turned into a pile of mush. Although it was still usable, it was really dissapointing. Especially because the only water this scrub has absorbed was the water off my skin.. which should be expected!
I usually love all the products I get at Lush, but this was more a miss than a hit for me. I was told in-store to dampen the scrub so I could break a piece off to use, which was fine until I got to the middle of the scrub and had hard bits (from the scrub getting damp and then drying up). So can't break bits off and have to use a big hard lump = scratched skin. It's lasted a while (I think so far 5 uses and I've got another two left). Aside from all that the first few times using this sugar scrub I loved it. Exfoliates well. I did get a bit of mess in the shower but that's easily rinsed away. I prefer Rub Rub Rub more. Easier to use in a tub and you don't have to worry about where to store it.
Tips: Break it up somehow. Away from any water. Ignore staff recommendation of dampening to brake chunks off.
