I had a full size of this product when I worked in a pharmacy. Avene is a high end brand, and their prices reflect that. I found the cleanser foams up and is for me quite drying. The consistency is nice and it smells pretty good, though I just found it stripped my skin a bit much. I prefer Cetaphil, which is also much cheaper.

I'm on the fence with this product, I think I need to give it more time. It was recommended to me by a pharmacist as I have very temperamental skin, its dry and sensitive but also acne prone. This product is supposed to be gentle enough for sensitive skin but help clear away acne. I love it for its acne properties I have been using it for about 3 weeks and my acne has reduced significantly. It is also gentle enough on my sensitive skin that I haven't seen any irritation however I do find it a bit drying. I am going to stick with it for a bit long as the pharmacist recommended to use it for at least 6 weeks. Fingers crossed I see even more of an improvement. You only need a little bit of this product, the liquid foams up a lot and your skin feels very clean after use.
Tips: Only use a tiny amount as it foams up a lot
I like this product and the consistency of the gel. Lasts quite a long time. I didn’t find it gave me any major improvement to my acne spots, although my skin did feel very clean and perhaps texture was also improved. The scent is noticeable so if you don’t like that then don’t get this, but it didn’t bother me.
Tips: Wash twice if removing makeup!
I have terrible acne i was recommended this at the pharmacy i used it for a good few months and found it great , made my face feel fresh and removed makeup well! It also got rid of a lot of my acne... Now i am on my 3rd bottle of this product i find it is not working for me at all . It is an expensive product and is not worth me purchasing as it only worked for a short while for me.
This soap free cleanser is very good. It cleared up my breakouts and controlled my oily skin but so does my trusty Clearasil which is cheaper. A little goes a long way so it does last a while but I didn't want to repurchase as I found in comparison to Clearasil is wasn't any better performance wise and was a lot more expensive.
At first I loved this cleanser. I would use it in the morning in the shower and felt like it was refreshing and made my skin feel clean. However after about a week I noticed dry patches appearing on cheeks/nose and my skin started to feel tight after I used it. I do get breakouts in my T-zone so I wish this didn't dry out other areas of my face as it is well known for keeping blemishes away but my combination skin just cant cope with it.
Tips: If you are prone to any dryness do not use this product.
This soap-free cleanser lathers nicely while gently removing make-up, impurities and excess oil. With a pH of 7.2, it helps minimise the production of excess sebum (oil) by gently cleaning the skin without stripping it of all its natural moisture.
The beautiful turquoise-coloured gel comes in a 200ml clear plastic bottle and contains zinc gluconate which has anti-inflammatory properties, but I was surprise to see that it's made up of 60% Avéne Thermal Spring Water! (supposed to soothe and soften the skin). This explains the expensive price ... the main ingredient is "thermal spring water".
I have a very oily skin and found that it cleansed nicely without leaving my skin feeling tight or dry and it was a little less oily after using the cleanser for a few weeks.
It does a good job of removing most make-up when used on its own and applied with the fingers (no make-up remover used beforehand) but I found that when removing long-wear pencil eyeliner formulas, I needed to use a wash cloth or facial sponge with the cleanser.
Comparing this to other soap-free cleansers that I've tried in the past, this one is very expensive and seems to have less beneficial ingredients than some of the others (no antioxidants, healing Aloe Vera, etc.). Personally, I wouldn't purchase this product again, not for that price.
Tips: Place a small amount of the cleanser onto your palm or a facial sponge and add a little water. Rub your hands together (or rub your fingertips over the sponge) to create a rich later before applying it to your face.
I got acne quite bad at 17 and the pharmacist reccomended this to me and this was life changing, it cleared my acne and helped my skin tremendously! It was my holy grail for years. I stopped using this after about 2 years as my acne came right. A few years after my daughter was born my skin broke out with acne again and I immediately brought this, knowing it helped previously. Except this time I had some sort of chemical reaction, my eyes swelled up, I had literal burns on my eyelids! I couldn't even go to work. After a few days of suffering I finally clicked that this was my newest introduction into my routine. As soon as I stopped using it my skin came right. Never again!!
I was super excited to review the Avene Cleanance range (cleanser, toner, acne cream) but unfortunately these products used in conjunction were all too harsh for my skin! My skin was red, my acne was worse and to add to my woes my skin was covered in tiny bumps - yes a rash! I think it may have been too much, too soon for my skin (double cleansing plus all the new products) I now have terrible acne i cannot clear up and painful, sore skin - boo!
Tips: Patch test first! And start by using a tiny amount of product!
I won a bunch of avene products from life when I purchased their water spray for my son. This was included in my prize and I must say it’s too good for me.
It’s a very good cleanser almost too good for my sensitive skin, so although I wouldn’t buy for myself in the future I have recommended to friends.
I don’t have too many problems with my skin aside from the sensitivity but if you have oily or blemish prone skin I highly recommend this.
It definitely cleans the skin and doesn’t strip it too much. I would probably say for me personally the problem came after a few days I realised it was a bit too strong for my skin so it was a bit dry after a few uses.. but if you have oily or blemish prone skin this may be just what you need.
Was nice and gentle otherwise. I will be able to handle using it up, but it was more the accumulation of using a few days in a row for my skin.. so if you are not too oily perhaps use intermittently like I am to use it up.
