Wouldn’t bother buying this again. It’s not cheap and didn’t make any difference to my stretch marks or other scars. It doesn’t seem to absorb very quickly so you’re left feeling greasy and oily for ages after application and it’s thin consistency means more always comes out of the bottle than you need. The smell is sickly sweet and overpowering. Very disappointed

Over priced let down

WARNING - Stay away from Bio Oil if you have sensitive skin! I broke out in major hives after using it once. My skin burned on applying, I was told it would sting a little as that's the citrus factor? Which I'm still quite unsure if that is true. After a wee while the slight burning sensation wore off. I became itchy & uncomfortable. I washed my skin thoroughly but due to it being an oil, I really struggled to remove it all. It took almost a week for my reddened skin to return back to it's previous condition. For some people, I hear great stories, even some of my friends, but for me personally it was a total waste of money. I passed the bottle onto a friend & have been sworn against it ever since. It was kind of my own silly fault for purchasing a full sized product when I have sensitive skin, but everything I heard had been so good. Not for me. Won't buy again.

I shudder just thinking about it!

Bio oil. Sounds quite natural - but its got so many ingredients, like seriously, there are over 25 ingredients It seems excessive when you can use something like olive or argan oil.

The base is mineral oil, which is essentially liquid paraffin. Gross!

I used this to tackle stretch marks when I was younger. I tried it again recently because you know, I was a judgey teen. My teenage self was right to hate it. It doesn't absorb, it just sort of sits on the skin. I had no results at all, other than my skin feeling greasy and oily.

If I could - I'd give it zero!

Didn't work for me

I had high hopes for this product. I used this on my stretch marks not couldn't see a difference after using it all day every day. Its very oily and takes a while to absorb. I didn't like the smell either. It's just a glorified moisturizer.

Waste of money

I've got stretch marks and acne scars and Bio Oil literally did nothing for me! I just felt like I was rubbing olive oil on myself - which would probably be just as effective honestly. It has a mild scent, so that's good if you're sensitive to smells. If it works for others, great. But I've not yet met anyone that has benefited from this product.

Tips: Try a small size first to see if it works for you.

If I could, I'd rate it zero!

Ingredients - why have 1 pure oil when you can have a squillion ingredients that will just clog your skin and break you out?!

My main issue with bio oil (other than the fact its petro-chem central), is that there are so many ingredients, and none particularly nice. I'd rather use a nice rosehip or organic oil blend.

Results - I used this to try and prevent stretchmarks with my first child - it did not work. And yet, after using a rosehip oil with my second I was left with LESS stretchmarks.

So in short. It doesnt work and its chock full of ick.

Wishful thinking

I starting using this product in pregnancy with the hope that it would help prevent stretch marks, I should have known that stretch marks are a genetic thing but I kept buying it even though I really disliked it just hoping it would work. I really dislike the smell, the feeling in the skin after and even on your hands after. It literally would feel like I’ve bathed in cheap canola oil. The smell is the worst part for me. I spent so much money on this product and wish i could say it was because I loved it.

Tips: Try the Ecotan Glory oil instead!!

An oil that promises much, delivers nothing

Bio Oil is well marketed in NZ to be THE oil for erasing stretch marks post pregnancy. Their marketing division should be applauded, they really have done a great job convincing us there is nothing else more superior. That’s why they can charge $30… we assume they have the lock on this market… but oh are so many disappointed. I’ve recently lost 30kg and in doing so, have created marks on my skin that I had hoped, bio oil would fulfil my dreams of erasing. I could even overlook the stench of this product, if only it was effective. Seriously though, what’s with that smell??!! Why that’s crude oil of course! Yes, that’s right… a specifically isolated part of petroleum. Lavender, calendula and camomile oils are there too but I can’t get past that petroleum. And does it work? Not particularly. In the end, I can find literally dozens of other products out there, that are more effective, smell great, natural and don’t feature crude oil!

Tips: Throw it out and pick up a body oil or creme that features retinol / vitamin A and Hyaluronic acid. To prevent them, consider using a product with centella - this herb shows promise in prevention.

No difference, not a fan

I bought the 200ml bottle and used this for nearly 6 months on my stretchmarks and scars that I've amassed throughout my life, and although it feels nice on the skin, I really saw absolutely no difference. I feel like it was a lot of time, effort and discipline wasted because it did nothing to fade any marks or scars. I even took before and after photos... nothing. Maybe its just me and my skin, I don't know, but I wouldn't repurchase or recommend to anyone.
