Disappointed......I used this for the few stretch marks I do have and I didn't notice a difference at all. I felt greasy and yuk! I was attacked by a dog in my twenties and used it on the scars on my arm with no noticeable difference.

Well it hasnt helped with any of my scars or stretch marks unfortunatly. It is good if you have dry skin however but not that good that id rush out to buy it again if i ran out.
Maybe I didnt use it long enough but my stretch marks still look exactly the same as they always have. Its also messy as but i suppose you get that with oil! It is also very over priced. They make big promises and I for one was let down
Tips: Use during pregnancy before scars appear, maybe it helps to avoid them rather getting rid of them once they have arrived
I was given a bottle of this after giving birth to my first child. It's an expensive product so I had 'saved' it, but when I was pregnant with number two a midwife friend mentioned it was made with mineral oil - a petroleum byproduct - and that she personally wouldn't use it while pregnant.
As it played out, i ran out of my other body oils so I used this one, but I found the scent very flowery and overpowering.
It was moisturising, as promised, but then all body oils are. The packaging is all plastic and while the screw top is secure and easy to open, it seems 'cheap' - especially considering how expensive the product is.
I haven't used this to apply to scars so I can't comment on its effectiveness there, but my doctor commented that stretch marks are mainly about genetics, and that products that promise to prevent them are just trying to make a sale. During my first pregnancy (when I was pretty slack about moisturising/applying body oil) I got off pretty lightly for stretch marks, so the fact I didn't get any the second time while using this bottle doesn't mean much.
Of course, lots of people have found this a great product, but personally I'm more inclined to suggest more natural options.
Tips: Be careful, a lot comes out at once.
The ads and certain raving reviews really have me conflicted because contrary to my reality and this review, I really wanted this to work. I tried this on the scars on my legs, old and new, consistently until 90% of my bottle was gone, but no noticeable difference. If anything it DID moisturise the "tight" areas of some new scars, but I feel it did not do what it claimed.
Tried this a few years ago when the lady at the pharmacy recommended this for pigmentation.
It is very thick and doesn't absorb into my skin easily above all I don't think it did much at all to aid in my pigmentation fading. Time helped more.
Won't use it again as it didn't do what I had expected.
This product is very moisturising, and leaves my skin feeling nice and soft, but it didn't help my scars.
I have a scar on top of my belly button from when I was pregnant (I had my belly button pierced when I was younger and the top hole made my skin pull upwards). I used bio oil throughout my pregnancy and afterwards but it didn't seem to prevent the scar and nor has it seemed to help it.
I think there are other, more natural, oils out there that I will use in future pregnancies as I'm not sure bio oil is all it claims to be.
The best thing about bio oil is that it can be found nearly in all your local supermarkets and shopping malls.
At first when i tried bio oil, i really disliked the smell... Still slowly getting use to it. My skin had been very sensitive to mosquito or sandfly bites for the past few years.. eventually it bruises upon scratching, or even scars if i overdo it. I heard a lot about bio oil how its good for getting rid of scretch marks amd scars, so i decide to try it out on my bruise marks, which i only used once a night after shower, as i just couldn’t ignore the oily smell.
After a few months of using bio oil, my uneven skin tone have not improved.... so i guess either it’s not very effective for large scars from a wound, or maybe it just takes time to for it to do its thing. It didn’t say it’s effective immediately afterall.. so i didn’t expect much from it.
Although it didn’t work like magic for my uneven skin tone, I think it’s still ok to use on any dry skin patches as a body oil.
I bought bio oil for stretch marks mainly. After giving birth to my daughter, I had a few stretch marks on my stomach, but I found that the best ‘cure’ for stretch marks, in all honesty, is just time. Over time, they’ve faded naturally and are now no longer a major issue for me. But I know for a fact that bio oil had nothing to do with that as I gave up on it after giving it a good trial. Time was the only thing that helped me with stretch marks. So I’d give bio oil a mark of one kiss out of five for helping me with that particular skin issue.. Ditto with uneven skin tone and scars. To be fair, I don’t have many scars and my skin tone is pretty even overall, but still ... for any minor problem patches, I found bio oil did absolutely zilch for me in those areas.
One area I DO think this oil is useful in is with extremely dry or ‘dehydrated skin’, which is one of the other claims it makes on the packaging. It does moisturise well and soften the skin. It feels pretty greasy when you apply it and it does take a while to absorb, but it’s very hydrating. So it’s for that reason I’d personally give this oil two kisses out of five. Because it works well as a moisturiser. But I agree with one of the other reviewer’s comments below that it’s just a ‘glorified moisturiser’ because any other really good-quality, reputable moisturiser can also help with dry skin, you don’t necessarily need to rush out and buy this oil if you have dehydrated skin. In fact, a fair few other oils can also help hydrate the skin - not just bio oil.
Two kisses.
I expected this product to be extremely effective as I heard fro some friends. After using it for a few months, I did not notice any difference. And this product is quite expensive too.
