Model Co. Tanning Mousse is the best tanning product I have ever used, but I'll be honest, I haven't actually used many tanning products in my life. This is mainly because I'm too scarred. My skin is extremely pale (very fair - fair), and I'm scarred that tanning products are going to turn me orange. Model Co. Tanning Mousse does not turn me orange!
I saw Model Co. Tanning Mousse 180ml at Postie for $16.99 which I thought was cheap for a tanning mousse product, so I decided to give it a whirl and ended up loving the result. The soft, foamy texture is easy to apply with a fake tanning glove (I have the Model Co. one from Farmers, but I don't think it's very good as it slides around my hand and twist around, but it does protect my hands well). The guide colour isn't very obvious, so it can be difficult to tell where you have already applied the product.
Because I lacked experience with fake tanning products, I thought 'Instant' meant I was going to see results instantly, which I did not. The first time I used it, I shaved my legs, waited 10 minutes after getting out of the shower and I did not apply moisturiser. I waited an hour and still felt as though I was not dark enough, so I applied another layer and let it develop. I got the exact results I wanted, and I have continued to use this application method the further times I have used it. The skin on my body is normal to dry and slightly sensitive, however the skin on my face is oily, pimple-prone and extremely sensitive, so therefore I did not apply this product to my face and I never will because I do not want a reaction.
I use two pumps per body part for each application (I learned this from Shaaanxo - I'm a fake tanning rookie, so I needed advice). 2 - 3 pumps for each of my arms, 2 pumps for my lower legs, 2 pumps for my thighs, 2 - 3 pumps for my chest and neck and so on. I felt as though this was ample and effective. I use the excess on my glove to do my hands, feet, elbows and knees as they are such dry parts of my body so tan tends to 'stick' to them.
The bottle is a tanning mousse's standard upright pump bottle and is easy to use, effectively pumping out the foam. I'm not really into the brown bottle. It's an unattractive colour. The writing on the bottle is easy to read, so it's obvious what the product is.
This tanning mousse has a divine caramel scent. I absolutely love it.
Would I repurchase this product? YES! Would I recommend this product to others? YES!
This is the first tanning mousse that I’ve tried and I just recently finished a bottle after falling in love with it this summer. Out of the other tanning lotions and creams that I’ve used this one is the easiest to apply. It’s definitely quick and effortless and the instant bronzer is a life saver, I never missed a patch thanks to this. I also loved the caramel scent and the fact that after applying before bed, it didn’t stain the sheets like another product I use. However there are a couple of downsides. For one it did still stain clothing a little, but always washed out. And second, while the colour was usually beautiful and golden it could still look a little too orangey on my skin, especially if I was out in the sun. To overcome the any orangey tones I would usually apply it before bed then shower in the morning to help tone the colour down. So overall I’ll definitely look at repurchasing this next summer...in a bigger bottle!
Tips: Don't be afraid to apply plenty of this, I noticed that any patchiness was reduced when I applied more product, not less. I used a couple of pumps on each section.
