No thanks!

I got this from a friend so didn't have to pay the over inflated price. I think that $12.50 is too expensive for a bubble bar if I am honest. The Holly Go Lightly is very christmas-ee which I love. Holly and berries on a silver bell looking base is great for putting one in the festive mood. It is very pleasing to the eye and quite big in size, but the true test for me is what is on the inside.

I tend to use bit of a bubble bar at a time to get the most out of it. The size means that it would be far too bubbly for me anyway. I have in the past used a full bubble bar and found myself slipping and sliding in the tub so stick to cutting bits off the bar as I go.

The smell is very spicy and to me very masculine. All I get is a big huff of cinnamon and at the best of times that smell is not my friend. Nevertheless I crumbled some under the tap and waited for the loveliness to start. I was surprised to find that inside the bar is bright green. I don't know what I expected it to look like but it definitely wasn't bright green in my mind. The flubbles are EVERYWHERE! I am in bubble bath heaven right now. I know that sometimes the scent from bubble bars can calm down once mixed in the bath but for me the cinnamon smell got right up my nostrils and made me cringe.

Even though am not a fan of the smell I do have to say that my body felt soft and smelled of subtle spice. I quite liked that but it's not something I would repurchase again. On the plus side my son loved it, so he got the remainder.

Tips: Use in smaller bits because the whole bar is too big for just one bath

Spicy and warming

Holly go lightly? More like holly go hard or go home. The size of this bubble bar is massive, if you cut it in half it would probably be the same size of a standard bubble bar. It looks cute too, a big green disc covered in silver glitter with a decoration of holly on the top. It looks very Christmas-y.

I did break this in half and held it under running water, I love how this bubble bar turned the bath water a shrek green colour it also produces a fair amount of bubbles. The scent of this I love, it really reminds me of the Lord of Misrule scent and Ol father thyme soap. It's a spicy cinnamon and patchouli scent, the perfect Christmas scent.

While in the bath the gorgeous spicy scent fills the air, I also think if the man was to have a bubble bath this would be the perfect scent for him as it is quite masculine smelling. I do love this scent though, especially when mixed with the Lord of Misrule bath bomb.

The scent doesn't last long on your skin once dried though although the little miss had a bath with this bubble bar and her hair retained the scent for the whole day it was delicious. I will repurchase this again next Christmas for sure it's such good value for money considering the size and the scent is so good.

Tips: Mix with the Lord of Misrule bath bomb

Not my fave!

This lovely little bubble bar came in a gift pack around Christmas time, which I'm grateful for as I know I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. It looks cute but I know that it's not a smell I am friends with.

The bomb was surprisingly large, and it was covered in a lovely silver lustre, and a cute decoration of some holly berries and leaves. I knew not to be deceived, as underneath the silver is a glorious bright green bubble bar!

I wasn't in love at first sniff. The smell of cinnamon greeted my nostrils, and then I had a flashback smell of the Lords of Misrule shower cream, and as I dislike that I knew I wouldn't like this. I used a small amount in the bath a few days later just to see how it went, and I still don't like it, and it's not on my repurchase list.

The bubble bar bubbled really well and it turned the water a very vibrant green, and the smell of it was very potent. It wasn't a bad bath but it wasn't one I would repeat in a hurry!

Christmas in a bubble bar!

My lovely friend brought this with her to use when she came to stay as she doesn't have a bath. She left it for me when she didn't get around to using it. As today is dreary and grey, I thought it was a good day for a bath so I gave this a go. It's not one I would've bought myself as the main smell is patchouli which I've never been a fan of.

This is a great big Christmas pudding off a bubble bar. It is green and coated with silver glitter with a sprig of holly (made of bubble bar) on top. Before I put it in the bath, the predominate smell was spicy clove - very Christmasy. As this is so large, I tried to break off a third of it but it ended up being just under half. I crumbled it well under running water. If you don't do this you will end up with lumps of bubble bar at the bottom of the bath that do nothing. Crumbling it created lots of bubbles.

Once in the bath, it turns the water a vivid green, just like the colour of the Lord of Misrule shower gel. It also smells a lot like it too - a very woody, patchouli smell but without any of the sweetness I can detect in LOM. I think this would make a good unisex bubble bar actually as I find the smell almost masculine. I couldn't see any of the glitter either in the bath water or on myself. There was some residue left in the bath but who doesn't love a bit of silver glitter (probably not the cat who treats it as his favourite water bowl!)

I normally apply body lotion after a bath but thought I would wait awhile until after I dried off to see how this left my skin. My skin felt OK but I did feel the need to moisturise after about five minutes. I couldn't smell any trace of this left on my skin by this stage either.

A nice soak to get you in the Christmas mood on a dreary December day!

Tips: If this sounds like you, grab it now as it is a limited edition for Christmas.

I really do feel sad for people without baths who can't experience these things.

Sitting in direct light, I can now see some sparkle on my skin. It's very subtle though and almost gives a golden glow.

Lush

Lush's Holly Go Lightly is a limited edition bubble bar.

Holly go lightly is presented as a large solid bubble bar coated in silver glitter with a thin holly bubble bar on top.

For me, when smelling the bubble bar, cinnamon was the only smell I could identify, although it is supposed to have lime oil and patchouli oil, as well as cinnamon leaf oil.

Because I have quite a big bath tub I chose to cut the bubble bar into 4 pieces. When using a piece I crumbed it between my hands and then created the bubbles with the tap and by swirling the water with my hands. Doing this created reasonable bubbles. To create really awesome bubbles did require the jets however.

Looking at the water, it was tinted by the dye in the bubble bar a little bit and you could see glitter floating in the water. If I used more of the bubble bar or had a smaller bath I think the tint would have been more noticeable.

The bubbles themselves also lasted pretty well, and could easily been boosted by using the jets or agitating the water manually.

Overall, I thought that the cinnamon was a really appropriate choice for christmas and that the bar made for a lovely bubble bath. The only reason I wouldn't give this full marks is because I couldn't smell the other oils. However, that may be my sense of smell as oppose to the fault of the bar.
