I bought a large pottle of this from Lush at some stage this year. This is a special product in that Lush donate the proceeds to charity. The only part that doesn't go to charity is the GST. I'm not sure of how many charities benefit from this money but my particular pottle has a sticker on top saying that Hurrah is one of them. I like that this is a NZ organisation, obviously overseas charities need our help too but it's nice to support something here too. As far as packaging goes, this is the same as any other lush lotion. It has a screw top lid and has a little sticker on it saying who made it and when you need to use it up by.
This has lots of great ingredients in it, lots of oils like jojoba and olive plus some cocoa butter. You can tell with just that, that is going to be very moisturising. This is a light off white colour and smells very good. I'm not quite sure what the scent is but it smells sort of like a musky perfume. It's quite warm and inviting. The texture is thick but not as thick as a body butter. You don't need a huge amount and it rubs in pretty easily. Not instantly though. I am enjoying using this on my dry skin now as I feel like it really keeps the dryness at bay. I think this would be the best for winter though. It's warm at the moment but I don't think I'd enjoy using something this rich during the hottest months. This pottle would last me around a month with daily use all over my body. I guess it is expensive so it's not something I'd use all the time but it's nice as a treat and you know the money is going to do good things too so win win really!
I hate to knock anything that is raising money for charity, but this product just didn't win my affection. However, I am very grateful that Lush do generously-sized samples, so I was able to give it a good shot before committing to purchasing a pot.
In terms of packaging, Lush is great. They encourage you to return empty pots to the store, but they are such sturdy pots I usually end up reusing them in the bathroom for jobs such as my lipstick holder!
In terms of the actual product, it is very rich, as promised, but so much so that my legs still felt a little slimy in the morning. Usually I'm more of a body oil person (oily at first, but doesn't sit on the skin), so I didn't enjoy this sensation. Further, the smell was very strong and, while not unpleasant, I found it made me feel a little queasy if I didn't wash it off my hands (which is a pity, because they need the moisture!).
However, if you like heavy body butter type moisturisers and you're good with scented products, this is an awesome way to support the great charity work Lush does.
Tips: If you're not sure, ask for a sample first. The staff are always happy to oblige!
