Lovely tan

I brought this as a tanner when looking for a more natural based tanner than my normal ones. I’ve used the cleanser and this moisturizer from this brand and been impressed, so hoped it would be the same with this self tan.

The tube is white, plain and simple. Modern yet appealing.

I do the normal prep for tan, exfoliate and moisturize the drier bits like knees and elbows prior.

The formula is lovely but a thick consistency. I apply with gloves taking care that I rub in well. It takes a while to develop.

Later on that day I’m left with a gorgeous lovely tan colour on my skin. It’s a lovely formula without any nasties. A lovely product.

Tan tan, can you do the...?

I received this in the NZ edition of BBBE... So I'm looking past the missing 'n' in Bronzer and the clear lack of preparation instructions on the packaging... I don't normally self tan (have only used one other product to date) and had no idea what prep was needed (because my memory is like a sieve sometimes), I attempted to apply this to one of my legs to see how much of a difference it made before evening out my 'tan'.

I do like how it's a gradual tanner and that you can see where you've applied it but the colour of the product is a bit um... well lets just say it looked like something a mum of little ones is well use to cleaning up. It doesn't smell appealing with any kind of tropical scent that accompanies most tanning products, in fact it smells more like a natural oil... like olive oil.

The actually tan colour after it develops is a lot nicer than I was expecting... at first I thought 'Oh No' it didn't work, but on closer inspection it was a subtle healthy looking glow to my leg and it made my other leg look sick :/ ok so even it out I did. My first application was anything but perfect but it's all good because my legs live in jeans (ripped ones mostly) so it doesn't need to be flawless but my application being hap-hazard certainly didn't help any.

If you are used to tanning products and know what you are doing this is a really good product... it last a few days before fading and it is build-able so you can darkening it over a few days but I liked he effect of two layers on my skin... helped balance out my pale legs looking lie a different person compared to my top half. I do love that this is a locally made product and animal friendly

I am not sure if I would go out of my way to repurchase this based only on the fact that I don't usually self tan... but if I were to then a big Maybe

Natural glow

I received this in the NZ best beauty box ever and I was super excited, I'm a real tan lover, especially in these cold autumn months! Oasis Beauty tan comes in a clean white tube of 150ml, it also came with a tanning mit (essential for all tanners out there) wrapped in a lovely orange ribbon for a pop of colour. I was excited to use it, so a week or so after, I prepped my skin made sure I had no other tan on and I was nice and exfoliated. I started off using the mit that it came with and unfortunately I did not like this, it didn't apply smoothly so I gave up with that and used my own trusty mitt. It's quite a thick texture with a dark brown colour so you can see where your putting it, I noticed that it didn't have the usual fake tan smell which is very appealing. Because the product is quite thick, you really need to make sure it's rubbed in and melted into your skin. I did my application before bed, so I put loose clothing on afterwards to avoid any steaks or lines. When i woke up in the morning I was pleasantly surprised with the colour I had, a lovely natural glow, exactly what you want. But I did notice that the fake tan smell had progressed and it was quite strong! I had a shower to get rid of the smell and the colour is beautiful, I'm so happy with it. The tan lasted about 3 days with showering each day and faded naturally with no patches. Overall really happy with this tan, I've used most of the tube now haha. The price tag isn't too bad but if I bought it id only use it when I really wanted a tan not weekly so that it lasts longer. So happy I've had a chance to try this tan :)

Tips: Exfoliate your skin before using for better effect and use a tanning mit to avoid those orange hands!

Natural looking tan

I'm not a huge self tanner. I've once got a spray tan which resulted in a $200 motel fee because the sheets stained self tan colour lol. And when I was in my early 20s I used a self tan mousse.

When I saw this in the BBBE NZ Brands I was a little scared of the word 'Super'. I automatically cringed and thought ompa lumpa.

Well, well, well I was pleasantly surprised. This super tan from Trilogy comes with a tanning mitt so you don't stain your hand and get an even coverage and believe me this mitt definitely helps with the even coverage.

I first applied this after my night time shower. I exfoliated to make sure I had no dry patchy flaky skin that would effect look of the tan once dried and developed. Out of the shower I applied a generous amount of lotion which is a dark burnt brown orange colour, to the middle of the mitt and applied it all over. Avoiding rubbing too much into the knee and elbow areas.

Straight away I could see the natural tan all over. Not heavy and orange but subtle and natural.

Unfortunately I also had a reaction and my arms flared up, went red and itchy so I jumped into the shower and washed it off

Sadly I can't share my experience of what it looked like hours later once dried and fully developed but the fact it was a beautiful subtle tan I really like it! I'm pretty sad I had a reaction and can't use it but will pass this on to a friend :)

Tips: Avoid applying to much around the elbow and knee area. Exfoliate before applying

Soft on Skin.

I received this super tan by Oasis in the New Zealand beauty brand box. I am not a huge self tanner because I have very fair skin and I often find that no matter how well I apply it, I still look orange or streaky. The packaging of this product comes in a white container with a free black hand mitt. (Fantastic idea) I found the mitt helpful in applying the tan as it is quite thick in texture so it did take a bit of work to rub in. I didn't like the colour of the tan on my fair skin but I did notice it wasn't streaky. It has natural actives of Jojoba, Strawberry, Vitamin E and Calendula which left my skin feeling soft and refreshed. I do like Oasis products but this just wasn't for me as the colour didn't suit. I will not be repurchasing in the future.

Not bad for Au Natural!

I won a captioning contest on the Oasis Facebook page, and this was one of the delightful prizes. I have a love hate relationship with most self-tanning products, especially cream ones at that, so I was sceptical it would work as well as they say.

The bottle is plain white and shiny, which is a shame because if it were matte it would match the rest of the Oasis range better. Super Tan is big and easy to read, and it made me think that the bottle should have a cape. The lid flips on and off easily, and there is an annoying silver protector under the cap. Inside the box was also a mitt – I’m not sure if they all come with a mitt or if it was included because it was a prize.

The product itself is an orangey brown, and it is THICK. I didn’t really smell it when I had it on my mitt but as soon as it hit my leg and rubbed around I wasn’t too impressed – no fake tan smell, but the smell that is coming out of this isn’t what I want to be huffing either. It almost smells like cooking oil. Gag.

As I said, it’s thick, and I now know not to use too much. Too much product and you find yourself struggling to get it to dry, and too little you’re left with product that’s dried too fast. Not to mention the streaks! So I’m still trying to find the perfect amount for me. The color going on is still that same orangey brown, but slightly less intense as it’s being applied to the lily whites. Usually when I use Bondi Sands (ultimate fave) it takes a bit for me to notice the “tan” but with this it was pretty noticeable straight away and I found I didn’t need to continue for any extra days. (I did the second day, but I think too many days in a row will leave you with oompa loompa legs.)

The tan lasted longer than I expected for a gradual tanner, and I like it even more because I can apply it with my hands if I need to. In my opinion the mitt was useless, but luckily I already had one I could use. So, it’s a great product, but perhaps the payout is too orange for me.

Super Tan - Debatable

Note sure about this. Is really thick and hard to spread, does give good colour however, but since it is thick, you need quite a bit and easy to miss bits

Oasis Beauty Super Tan

This came in the NZ brands beauty box. It includes a nice soft applicator mitt. There's a fairly strong scent to it but not as bad as some tanning products. The cream/gel is a mousse-like consistency.

I found this applies well but the applicator mitt sheds readily, leaving black spots of fabric stuck to the skin. As claimed there are no streaks. The colour is very light to begin with and darkens up considerably over the course of several hours (so don't panic and apply more!).

Sadly it's not a product that I would choose to purchase as my skin developed bad acne after use. The point of applying it was to make my legs a little less ghostly while wearing shorts, so instead I had to cover them up and melt :( Have tried to make it work several times but keep getting the same result.

Very Metallic Smell

Oasis Beauty's Super Tan is the first gradual tanning lotion that I've come across that has no smell, as promised. The product does have a slight metallic scent when squeezed out of the tube, but once applied, this disappears and the instant bronzer that is added to the product allows me to easily see where I've applied the tanning lotion.

Well, that was true for the first week of using the Super Tan. During the second week and the weeks after, the metallic scent seemed to intensify (obviously due to the product now being exposed to air each time it's used) and the metallic scent clings to the skin for hours after application. If I don't use Super Tan for a week and then go back to it, the metallic scent is quite overpowering, even to the point where hubby commented one night, "It smells like you've been bathing in the blood of your victims in here," when he went into the bathroom shortly after I'd finished applying my tan.

The colour of the product is quite dark (a bronze-brown thick paste), but the bronzer gives me instantly tanned looking legs, which is great, especially if I've forgotten to apply the lotion the day before I want to have a nice looking tan. Best of all, there's no streakiness or patchiness, and no orange colour.

My tan only lasts about 3 days before it rapidly begins to fade and desperately needs a top-up. I've never managed 5 days like they promise, and I definitely wouldn't say that it doesn't have a smell, that metallic scent can be quite overpowering at times. Honestly, I don't see myself buying another tube of this, I think I'll be going back to Palmer's Natural Bronze Gradual Tanning Moisturiser.

Tips: Exfoliate well before applying.

Not so streak free for me

This stuff develops into a lovely natural tan but I did find it quite hard to apply. I used a mitt with it but it is quite thick so it is difficult to get an even coverage. I found that the more I tried to smooth it on, the streakier it became (it does have a tint to it so you have an instant tan). The streaks were less obvious in the tan that developed the next day but were there nonetheless. I wouldn't use this one again and I have kinda given up on faking it altogether and am try to embrace my natural pastiness.
