I found the product to be as described. The lotion was light and moisturising not at all paste-like or heavy like a typical sun screen. A small amount was enough to get a good coverage. The package is small and slim so perfect to fit in a handbag to take on the go. Taranaki did not put on any sunshine during the trial period but I feel confident that the SPF 50+ would provide sufficient protection had it. I would purchase this product in the future.

I really like this sunscreen! Being a very fair person I hate when you wear a sunscreen that makes you look even fairer, this sunscreen does not leave a white cast and is definitely matte on my skin (I have normal skin). It is a thinner consistency so absorbs quickly it also has a very light but pleasant scent. I found once applying this it lasted me a good 6 hours before needing to reapply my partner has also been using it as he burns badly and has oily skin so the matte finish is a bonus. I have tried it under makeup and it seemed to work ok for me with a liquid foundation set with powder. The packaging is just your typical squeeze tube bottle which I feel is the easiest way to distribute the product. Overall I would buy again as it absolutely protected my skin, it's convenient to take on the go. A decent high SPF sunscreen isn't always easy to find but this will now be my go to! Thumbs up!
I enjoyed testing out this product as I very easily get sunburnt and hate greasiness of sunscreen so this seemed like the best solution! When applying it, I loved the matte finish it left and how non-greasy it ended up being on my face as I have oily skin. Although I felt as though SPF 50 is a bit too much for what I would need daily. It felt really nice to use under makeup and it kept my face oil-free for a good part of the day! I couldn't really feel the vitamin E in the sunscreen but could definatley feel that my skin was more hydrated than before I used the Sun Lotion. I also liked that it didn't have the usual sunscreen smell that most have, which came in handy when I wanted to use it on its own. The product goes a long way as you only need to use a very small amount but be careful as this could result in the lotion not being applied correctly. All in all, I really enjoyed the product and it definelty did what it says it would!!
Tips: Dont use too much as it could leave an icky feeling after.
I often find standard sunscreen quite greasy and heavy on my face and it takes ages to rub it all in. I often break out afterwards so was looking forward to trying NZ Cancer Society's Moisturising Face Sun Lotion. I liked the fact that the lotion is developed and tested using the NZ sun so you know you're getting the good stuff and with a SPF of 50+, you know you're going to get sufficient protection. The tube is a convenient size and is easy to put in your handbag and take with you so you can reapply when needed.
The Lotion claims to have a Matte Finish and a Dry Touch. I found that I didn't need to use too much to cover my face and neck and that it was quickly absorbed without any shine. It felt good and knowing it was Paraben free and contains Mositurising Vitamin E was a bonus!
I can't recommend Cancer Society SPF 50+ Moisturising Face Sun Lotion enough. It was reassuring knowing I had a high protection SPF and it really does do what it says it does! I will be buying this again and I suggest you do to!
Tips: Proceeds from the sale of this product help support the valuable work of the NZ Cancer Society so when you buy this you know you are helping a good cause!
Finally, I have found a sun lotion that I would consider using. I usually dislike sun lotions/sunscreens due to the way the product smells and feel on the skin and would avoid using them if I can.
But this sun lotion from the NZ Cancer Society has changed my view on sun lotions because: 1- does not feel sticky at all on the skin and easy to spread the product 2- absorbs easily into skin without leaving white marks, and does not feel "cloggy" or "oily" 3- it stays on the skin 4- smells decent on the skin 5- could work as a substitute for a makeup base 6- not to mention it contains Vitamin E providing extra protection for our skin cells.
I am a sucker for products that provide multiple benefits and this sun lotion is one of them, would definitely be wearing this product a lot more.
As a natural red head a high SPF sun cream for my face is an every day essential. I usually use an expensive one from a Beauty Spa that I go to as it's light, moisturising and doesn't seem to cause breakouts but I was keen to see what the Cancer Society could offer. The packaging is very simple, the 75ml size is perfect for my hand bag or car and there was enough information on the front to tell me that it was SPF 50+, moisturising, matte finish, dermatologically approved, dry touch, paraben free and with a UVA/UVB Broad Spectrum (which, I'll be honest, I don't fully know what that part means, but it has to be all good stuff right?). Anyway, I received this just before a weekend and have used it in a few different ways and it's been great! One day I used it as a complete sunscreen, being topped up throughout the day whilst I was in the garden, then just before an outside Bootcamp HIIT session and then a few days as part of my morning routine. It was perfect for the garden, I felt really protected, half of this is probably down to the Cancer Society branding and the high SPF on the packaging, but the cream was also light enough for me to not feel it. I applied twice during the days and at the end of a full day of collecting firewood I had a few extra freckles but absolutely no red bits. Bonus! Another notable application was during a particularly hot Bootcamp session outside. I have to admit, because I use a day cream with SPF I don't usually have a spare bottle of sun cream in my car, but I made a conscious effort during this trial so I could try it with a workout. It definitely protected my face from the sun, I do sweat when I work out (sorry, grosse) but I found that it didn't clog my skin, I didn't feel it 'dripping' off my face and I also didn't have the usual 'sun cream in eye' issue, which was greatly appreciated! A few mornings I used it as a day cream and although it took a little while longer to sink in I did really like the moisturising effect it gave me. It wasn't as 'matte' as my usual face cream but for the price and the higher SPF count, I didn't mind it. I will definitely continue to use this product, and re purchase to keep it in my car, I would maybe not continue to use it as a day cream, but definitely as a face sun cream option especially before Bootcamp, I love the price and the high SPF...I do kind of wish it had a nice fragrance, like coconut or something that reminds you of 'holidays'.
Tips: Keep it in your car for those extra sunny days :-)
I have honestly been so put off by facial sunscreens due to the thick, heavy, clogged feeling most give. This upon opening and rubbing between hands i could tell it was different. It feels so light between fingers and upon smoothing on my face felt instantly light!! Felt a little cooling on the skin also?! It seemed to disperse in very fast and felt literally like i had nothing at all on. I continued on with my primer and foundation - this would be the biggest test! And to my surprise it made no change at all YAY. I was expecting some oiliness or patchy foundation!! I know how important SPF is in NZ and ive been so naughty in the past and avoided it due to its horrible feel... but now i will use daily!!
Tips: A little goes a long way with this one! I used before primer :)
I was really excited to be picked for this review. My skin is naturally quite oily and prone to acne, so I'm always hesitant about putting sunscreens on my face. This product is a whole other story. It does exactly what it says. It's incredibly light and soaks in to your skin quickly. It's not shiny at all and is very smooth to the touch. I found it to be absolutely fine under make up. It didn't sweat off when I got hot and protected me from the harsh New Zealand afternoon sun. I only applied it once for a whole afternoon outside and didn't burn. A wonderful product and so gentle on the skin!
Tips: Works great as a base for make up!
I really liked that this sunscreen was made by the cancer society as proceeds go towards the work that they do, and it isn't tested on animals.
It does everything it says it will, it's moisturusing, matte finish, dry touch, and very high sun protection. I did find it a little oily though, especially under make up even though my skin is dry.
I also ended up with a small breakout from using it, but again I think this is because i only wore it under make up, and we have had very humid weather.
It doesn't smell like sunscreen, and went on really easy and didn't leave a shiny finish even though my skin felt a little oily
I will use this again but on days when I am not wearing make up, other times I will opt for foundation with sunscreen in it
Tips: - use very sparingly under make up - don't forget that is a sunscreen not a moisturiser - don't squeeze the tube too hard or you will get too much out
