Apply liberally

I like the idea it's for "NZ sun" as we have a thinner ozone layer and so the sun is particularly harsh on us. On first application, it gives off a slight menthol smell which I guess is what makes this "extra cooling" although I didn't actually feel it very much. I rubbed it in and it was quick drying but I could definitely still feel a film/layer of sunscreen the whole time I had it on - I guess you would call it "non greasy" but still present. Overall it works as a sunscreen and the Cancer Society is a reputable brand.

Tips: Perhaps a second coat after the first one dries would be a good idea. You should be applying liberally and often anyway.

Pretty good!

first off, its a good size and works well, it is sunscreen at the end of the day so as long as it protects my skin from the sun ill like it, is unfortunaltey is quite thick and smells off, which does put me off it a bit, it does blend quickly and works - but the scent and texture would make me purchase another one.

Tips: have a strong scent.

Cancer Society Sun Spray

I thought this was a good sun spray that gave the Neutrogena one I usually use a run for its money. I definitely agree that it leaves a non-greasy feeling and doesn't have a scent/white tint like some other sunscreens. I would say however that i did find the spray itself can come out uneven and not as fine. However overall I would buy the again for myself and would recommend it for those who need a quick and easy way to put on your daily sunscreen!

Tips: Make sure you shake the can well and I find the further you spray, the finer it comes out.

Nothing amazing

I personally prefer sunscreens in a bottle rather than a spray but thought I'd give this a try anyway. I found it quite hard to rub in and make sure you've covered everywhere. It states that it's non greasy, but it definitely left me feeling a little greasy. I probably wouldn't repurchase this product, but will keep using it to see if I change my mind about it. I did however love how high the spf is. I'm very fair skinned and burn quite easily, so high spf is what I look for when buying sunscreen.

Not sure...

I love the idea of spray sunblock, easy to use and not as greasy but it's not as great as I thought.

I found this product to be very greasy, as many sunblocks are, but this one said it was non-greasy so I was a bit disappointed in that area.

If found it coated my skin pretty well and did a good job of stopping me from getting sunburnt but I felt like I had to keep reapplying because I didn't feel protected (even though I probably was).

I also found that after a while the spray nozzle started spitting sunblock instead of spraying it, meaning it wouldn't cover my skin properly and would leave it patchy meaning I'd have to run in extra sun cream.

I've used better

I bought this for two reasons. One because it is far easier to use on a kid that can't sit still for five minutes to put lotion on. Two because it sais non-greasy! I am all about non-greasy so I decided to chuck it in my trolley.

Skipping ahead one summer season; I found it to be quite different to what I expected! Disappointed to say the least. The spray bottle is very inline with all Cancer Society suncare products, It has the very familiar daffodil right at the top in plain site. The colour is a metallic looking blue, especially on the metal can. It's very pleasing to the eye. I always have to go for something that is SPF50 at least. I do prefer more but 50 is the minimum now.

It promised extra cooling and it definitely delivers. On a scorching summers day it is very refreshing to have nice cooling spray on sunscreen to help take away some of that heat. When spraying it on, it coats easily and in a wide area without having to respray too many missed areas. It says non-greasy, BUT, it was very greasy when rubbing it in. My skin and my sons skin was very oily looking after applying. I waited a few minutes, thinking that perhaps it just needs to absorb in to my skin. Fast forward half an hour and I am still oily looking....GROSS!!

I apply every two hours especially when in the water to be safe. I ended up having to put it on every hour and a half because I noticed my skin burning after being in the water. I guess this has a lot to do with not being water resistant.

On a plus side, my son thinks spraying it on himself is great fun. Far be it from me to stop him from wanting to be sun safe so I let him. It is a very good way to get your kids in to being sun smart but for me I would rather a lotion so I don't get the greasy residue afterwards. I would buy it again, but only for my son.

Tips: Apply every hour especially when in the water

Is spray necessary

For use wise I don't find spray especially helpful as I'd only use it for hard to reach places... But would still need to rub in to make sure I didn't miss a spot. Plus not as much comes in the spray and what does gets used / blown away in wind way too fast. I'd prefer to use lotion as it's more cost effective and easier not to miss a spot

Glowy

Having a spray sunscreen is great due to it being convenient and easy to apply. Although it dries relatively quick it does feel a little sticky on your skin.

As a dark skinned person I do like that it does not leave a weird residue on your skin, guess its because its a spray. I would say it somewhat protected my skin as I did not burn.

Tips: Use generously but do bear in mind you'll get very shiny. However it does absorb eventually and leaves glow. Best not to use on face.

Cancer Society SPF 50+ Ultra Cool Beach Sun Spray-

I used this over a weekend at a festival where I was out in the sun for hours on end.

First I want to mention that I did not burn at all while using this sunscreen despite being in constant sun and having very very pale skin. Another good point is the smell- slightly menthol but not overpowering.

The only bad thing I have to say about this product is that it's very greasy. I only use spray on sunscreens and have never had a problem with them being greasy so I was pretty disappointed about this one as the residue rubbed on my clothes and I wasn't able to use it on my face due to the greasiness.

Overall I'd probably buy a different spray sunscreen purely due to the greasiness of this product.

Tips: Avoid wearing white as the residue does rub off on your clothes a bit.

Felt Greasy and Didn't Like The Spray Format

I use sunscreen on a daily basis, so was excited to receive this for review. It's SPF50, which seemed promising, and claimed to be quick drying and non-greasy. I hate the greasy feeling of sunscreens so I only ever use dry touch non-greasy ones.

However, I was not a fan of this. The spray mechanism was very awkward and meant it was difficult to control how much product I put on my arms and legs. I also did not dare spray it anywhere near my face, so I had to use a different non-spray sunscreen for that. While you can indeed continuously spray in any direction, I found the spraying format quite inconvenient for spraying on myself on the backs of legs and anywhere not in my line of sight.

Once sprayed on, it very quickly absorbed into my skin with only a few dabs of white remaining. As such, I had to very quickly stop spraying and spread it over my arms, otherwise it just absorbed in to that one spot and I needed more product. This is also why I couldn't spray on my hands and then apply on my face; it just absorbed so quickly that it clearly was not going to work that way.

The sunscreen was also still a little greasy to the touch and made my hands feel sticky, even when absorbed into the skin, so it did not deliver on that front at all. Otherwise, the sunscreen did its job to protect me from the sun for about 3 hours, and even though I have very sensitive skin it was fine with this sunscreen. It just wasn't a comfortable sensation when I had the sunscreen on, and also rubbed off a bit on my light coloured shirt. When I washed my hands, it felt like my hands were greasy.

The spray also claimed to be cooling but truthfully there was no difference compared with other sunscreens.

The sunscreen also smelled like waxy menthol yet powdery, and not pleasant at all. It's strange because Cancer Society sunscreens usually smell fine to me, so I think it might just be a peculiarity of this spray can version.

Overall, I would probably recommend sticking with a sunscreen that's in a tube, and if you're wanting non-greasy then this formula is not for you.

Tips: Avoid spray sunscreens. Get it in a tube so you can apply to your face, back, and wherever without fuss!
