The Cancer Society sunscreen is a good, standard sunscreen that does its job very well. It gives good sun protection and stays on well. What I don't like so much about it is that it feels a bit greasy and also leaves my skin feeling sticky for a while after applying it. I prefer sunscreens that get fully absorbed into the skin, and I think there are definitely better ones out there than this one. I wish I liked this sunscreen better as I like the fact that it raises funds for the Cancer Society.

I would say that the Cancer Society Sunscreen is one of the best for protecting the skin from UV rays. As someone with pale skin, protecting my skin is really important and I find that this sunscreen is reliable for protecting my skin. I find that this sunscreen can last all day but on particularly hot/sunny days, to apply 2-3 times is more effective.
The one thing that I'm not as fussed on is that it is quite a greasy sunscreen.
I burn very easily and I have a father with the same complexion who suffers from skin cancers. I am very careful about my sun care. I love the cancer society suncreams, and this one is one of the best. It is a strong, long lasting cream though it does make you feel like you have gone swimming in goop as it doesn't absorb well. Great for the whole family and stops burning
Tips: Make sure to follow the instructions of how often you should reapply the cream to avoid burning completely.
I purchased a 375 ml pump bottle of this when I realised that not one of the ten 11 & 12 year old girls I had away for netball tournament had brought sunblock with them. Growing up in a sunny place with pale skin and family members with a history of skin cancer has made me extremely sun conscious and so I bought this and insisted every child apply it in the morning, and did so myself, as did my co-coach. I then continued to use it for much of the summer. In this group we had dark skinned, brown skinned and very fair skinned girls, and the entire week we didn't have a single sunburn issue. Over the rest of the time I have been using it I can report similar results.
This sunscreen comes in a variety of sizes, all with the Cancer Society logo, featuring a bright yellow daffodil on a blue bottle. The bottle explains clearly what type of sunscreen this is.
The pump dispenses easily, and the thick white cream that comes out is easy to apply. It leaves a teeny bit of residue on the skin until it absorbs (makes it easy to see when the kids have applied it!) and it spreads well. It has a slightly greasy feel at first but once absorbed that disappears. Once absorbed it's water resistant - but I'd still advise to reapply after swimming just in case, as our sun is harsh.
The scent is a typical sunscreen scent, which I don't mind as it evokes summers at the beach for me.
Funds raised from this product go to support the Cancer Society of NZ, who do amazing work and need all the help they can get.
I personally prefer spray on sunblock but am happy to use this bottle up and would purchase again, especially when I am protecting children from the kiwi sun.
Tips: Heed expiry dates. Most people who get burned using decent sunscreen do so because they're using an out of date product.
Sunscreen is so important to have and is a absolutely essential item in my house. I found that this sunscreen was easy to apply and goes on quite nicely. It didn't leave me feeling like I was wearing sunblock and it didn't make me feel sticky which a lot of sunblocks do. I would buy this sunscreen again hands down.
Iv brought this product and used it on both myself and my children. I liked how it was really easy to apply (even in a rush while my kids are trying to get away) and once applied it doesn't leave that yucky feeling on your skin like you have a extra layer on. I'd defiantly buy it again.
This is my go to sunscreen. It is cancer society approved what more can I say, it must great then. I go camping for about 1-2 months of my holiday during christmas as I am teacher at my favourite spot every year and I always have this sunscreen on hand. My family uses it and any guests to the camp site uses it. It protects my skin from the sun, I don't get sunburnt from using it. I do apply the sunscreen every 3 hours or after a swim. It does leave a slightly greasy film on the skin, but if you are camping and your appearance isn't a thing then it won't bother you plus it's to protect you. I usually purchase the sunscreen with the pump as it is easier to apply and to get product out. Great sunscreen. Just don't get any in your eye because it does irritant it, i've learned from experience.
This is an amazing product. I mainly use this one in summer time as it is easy to access as its available in most supermarkets and The Warehouse.
It is a creamy lotion texture and is easy to absorb and a it spreads easily and does not go on greasy. Another bonus is that the smell isn't too strong. like that it comes in a couple of different sizes so that you can keep one in your handbag or car and the larger size in your bathroom at home.
Tips: Follow instructions carefully to know when to reapply and to avoid burning
I'm a huge fan on sunscreen, and use it religiously even in winter. Its an essential in my daily skincare routine, but have to admit in winter i only use it on my face since the rest of my body is all rugged up.
This used to be the only sunscreen i used, simply because it was the one my family used, and so it was accessible, and most importantly, brought for me.
It comes in navy blue packaging which is adorned with the cancer society logo, which i don't know about you, but it makes me think this is the real deal, and the best you can buy.
A bonus of this product is that is comes in heaps of different sizes, so is pretty easy to find one that suits your needs.
As for the product itself. Well it's okay, its white, and quite thick. It has the distinctive sunscreen smell which i don't overly mind. However, i do find the is a bit hard to rub into skin, its not a big deal but it just make it less convenient to use. Plus it doesn't absorb as quickly as i would like, and leaves that greasy feeling which i just don't like.
Another negative for this product is i once spilled some on my black jeans, and boy did it stain them. Its wierd because it hasn't stained any of my other clothes, but now im on the paranoid side when i use this product.
Overly, not my favourite sunscreen, in fact-no where near my favourite sunscreen. Won't be repurchasing this again unless im desperate.
I used this sunblock last summer and got sunburnt! And for the record, it wasn't because of lack of reapplication! One day at the beach, I had a different brand of sunblock and applied that to everywhere except my back, then had someone else put some sunblock on my back. They used this Cancer Society sunblock and off we went. Then in the evening, my back was sore and bright red - the rest of my body was absolutely fine, no sunburn in sight! I was super disappointed as I thought the results would've been the other way around if I was going to get sunburnt! Would not ever use this again!
Tips: If you're going to use it, reapply every half hour if you don't want to get burnt!!
