I had some money for my birthday, and wanted to treat myself to something special. I decided that an excellent under-eye cream was going to be my birthday splurge!
I've fallen in love with Clinique products, so I went to the Clinique counter to see what they had to offer. I wanted to get something that would work on dark circles, lines, and just generally brighten. The Clinique technician recommended All About Eyes.
Right away I really liked the jar - it is a beautiful pink (my fav!) and I also liked that it's in a jar.
The gel is lovely and cooling - it goes on beautifully, absorbs almost immediately and leaves the skin feeling moisturised. It doesn't leave a tacky feeling (like you can get with some gel products) it just feels wonderful and soothing.
I noticed an improvement in my under-eyes after about a week. The dark circles seemed less noticeable, and I didn't notice my make-up settling into the fine lines as much. I've been using this for almost two months, once in the morning before make-up, and then again at night - I'm so pleased with the results.
While this is a bit more than I'd generally spend on an eye treatment, it is money very well spent and I'll absolutely be getting this again.
The jar is pretty but that is the only positive for me about 'all about eyes'. Overall I tend to find Clinique great for cosmetics - they produce gorgeous textures and natural looking shades but I just cannot be a convert to their skincare range no matter how hard I try. I was fortunate to receive my jar as a gift but I would have been highly disappointed to fork out the money for this product and have such a poor performing product that my cheap $10 eye gel can out-perform every time. The consistency of this is a gel-crème it is semi-translucent and does feel nice when you put it on. No matter how little I use though it becomes a tacky residue once it dries down as if it doesn't sink in and it just sits there feeling gummy and tacky. It is horrendous to apply makeup over - concealer and foundation don't seem to sit well over it and that is not great. I can't even use it at night as the tacky feeling annoys me and it gives me milia (little white bumps) under the eyes from prolonged use. The next gripe I have with this product is that despite lack of fragrance and it's hypo-allergenic claims is that it makes my eyes sting and water. I am not getting it in my eyes but just having it around my eyes makes them sore. For me personally this product completely defeats the purpose of using an eye product and maybe I just have ultra sensitive skin but it was a huge disappointment for me and I am better just not using it at all.
