Clinique's Anti-Blemish Solutions BB Cream is my favourite BB Cream. I started using is as soon as I saw it available when I was shopping at a Clinique counter one day, I am a long time fan of their skincare and foundation so was excited to see a more lightweight substitute suitable for my acne-prone skin.
The packaging of the foundation is a plastic squeeze bottle in the trademark blue and white colours that identify the product as part of Clinique's Anti-Blemish range. The lid is really secure and the bottle itself is slimline making it slip easily into makeup bags. The nozzle of the bottle is also quite small which is great as it allowed me to easily regulate how much product I was dispensing.
The formula is very runny and watery in consistency. You need to shake it before use to mix the product otherwise it can separate between what looks like the pigmented makeup and a more watery base.
I have applied this using my fingers, blending sponge and foundation brushes. When applying with a sponge because the formula is really liquid I either use a dry sponge or use the sponge only slightly damp so that it doesn't water down the product.. Generally I prefer to use a dry beauty blender as this allows me to get an even coverage without getting product all over my fingers. The finish is nice and natural, providing an even base with enough coverage to cover blemishes and redness and allow freckles to show through. It is also buildable, you can apply the first layer and then use the sponge to build up where you need a little more coverage.
The oil-free formula itself is specifically designed for acne-prone skin and to help minimise oil, so would be perfect for combination/oily skin. I have combination skin and on me it lasts pretty well throughout the day but I normally do a powder touch-up around 6-7 hours to combat shine and anywhere it may have been wearing off.
For me this is the perfect BB cream, it's long-lasting and provides good coverage but is lightweight and looks natural so you don't look like you're wearing heavy makeup. I highly recommend this for anyone with acne-prone skin looking for a BB cream or even a sheer coverage foundation.
I’m undecided on this B.B. cream. Although it provides buildable light coverage which I like it tended to make me breakout a lot which is strange considering it’s meant to be for oily acne prone skin. It’s high in SPF which is fantastic, although that does effect the scent but is to be expected and didn’t put me off. It’s very watery in consistency and you need to remember to shake it before each application. Overall I like it, would I purchase again, probably not.
