Dermalogica Moisturiser... worth it?

This was a lovely moisturiser however, as with many of Dermalogica's products, the price had me questioning if it was really worth it. I have come across some really great moisturisers for my dry, sensitive skin which don't cost a fortune and are just as good as this Dermalogica cream. I would love to use this product more but wouldn't recommend it above another because the price is just silly.

Ticks all the boxes!

It comes in a squeeze tube with a spin-off lid. The moisturiser’s consistency is quite wet and runny, sometimes I end up squeezing too much product on my hand.

I am amazed by the smell of this moisturiser. This is probably the only one Dermalogica product that smells so nice, so subtle and so natural.

It is a sheer, super light moisturiser. It makes me feel like I am not even wearing a moisturiser. I really enjoy the light-weight feeling and the matte finish.

When I apply this silky moisturiser on my dry skin, I can feel it glides on my skin beautifully. Yes it feels quite watery, wet (but not sticky) on my fingers and on my face. However, I was surprised at how fast it absorbs into my skin and how it lasts all day on my face. It does not leave my face looking shiny or feeling oily (it is oil-free). It is a very hydrating moisturiser. I only have to apply once in the morning, my skin is still hydrated and feeling replenished throughout the day.

I get dry patches around my cheeks, nose and forehead. This moisturiser has never irritated my skin.

Because of the texture and the consistency of this moisturiser, a little amount is enough to cover my entire face and a bottle seems to last for months. Less is more with this moisturiser!

After using this product for a month, I would say it definitely does what it claims. It does an excellent hydrating job, no greasy feeling, my skin definitely looks smoother and healthier.

Compared to other moisturisers in the market, this product is a bit expensive. Another downside of it is it does not have SPF. However, I would probably repurchase it again as I really like it (so does my husband) and it’s worth the money.

Because of its expensive price, I would only recommend it to friends and family who are willing to pay that much for a moisturiser.

Tips: Don't squeeze too hard, you end up with too much product on your hand.

Almost dermalogica's best moisturiser

This is a great moisturiser, but not Dermalogica's best. The Skin Smoothing Cream is better, that is liquid gold, this is liquid silver.

Tips: Buy the Skin Smoothing Cream instead.

Very expensive!

I have a tester of this which came in a pack with 5 other Dermologica products. This moisturiser does a really good job and my skin feels fantastic afterwards, but I cannot justify the price when there are others on the market which do an equally good job on my skin.

Loving this moisturiser

I've been using this moisturiser for 6 months now and accompanied by my other dermalogica products it has changed my skin! My pores are SO small and my skins not so oily anymore! It gives me a really nice hydrated feeling without being too greasy and no residue in the morning either!

Tips: A little goes a long way!

Nice lightweight moisturiser

This moisturiser is nice and lightweight Personally it didn't have a huge benefit to my skin, but I can imagine for someone with less problematic skin it would be a nice option

A little oily

This made me rather oily. I use to use it when I was younger, tried it recently and it wasn't great on me! I would like to try it again during a different time of year to see if that makes a difference.

Tips: ask for a sample before committing to a full size as its expensive!

Dermalogica Active Moist Moisturiser

I bought a full sized tube of this at David Jones for about $80 some time ago after a consultation. I found this to be nice a light moisturiser to put on after washing my face and it was absorbed easily. It was nice, but it wasn't great. I don't think I'll be buying a full size of this product again.

Tips: Ask for a sample of this before considering a purchase as this product is expensive for skin care.

There are better, cheaper products out there

I’m a sucker for Dermalogica products and find that in general they are worth the extra money and far superior to other cheaper products out there. A case in point would be Dermologica’s Daily Microfoliant - this is a gorgeous product that is worth its weight in gold (see my other review on this here: http://www.beautyreview.co.nz/catalogue/skin-care/face/exfoliation/dermalogica-daily-microfoliant?p=1 . But when it comes to Dermalogica’s Active Moist moisturiser, I’d have to say that it’s just ‘okay’. It doesn’t blow me away. And for $94 for 50ml, ‘okay’ is not what one would expect, There are plenty of other moisturisers out there that I believe do a better job - and, as an added bonus, are are cheaper. Loreal do some lovely moisturisers, and even the supermarket-bought, cheap-as-chips Olay moisturisers can feel better on my skin! At the moment though, I’m using a Frulatte Vitamin-C infused moisturiser and it is just wonderful! So I am sorry Dermologica, but your expensive no frills Active Moist Moisturiser at $94-a-pop just doesn’t do it for me.
