This is a gel cleanser, which has a refreshing, almost cooling feel when I use it. I used this for 6 months - a 250ml bottle lasted me the whole time, so I found it really affordable. My skin felt nice and clean after using it, and it was very gentle but I prefer a cream cleanser to a gel - for this reason I have gone back to using Dermalogica's Essential Cleansing Solution, which I used prior to trying out the Special Cleansing Gel. I would use this again if I could not get the cream cleanser instead, and would recommend it for anyone who likes a gel cleanser.

This has been a 'hero' item for me a couple of years now- understated, but you REALLY appreciate it if you use something else and come back to it! Gentle, a silky emulsion, it is effective at removing the dregs of the day without leaving that awful tight feeling.
I was put onto Dermalogica by a friend who works in the beauty industry. She explained that (in my mid-20s) I should try not to use cleansers that are aimed at teenagers - I'm past the awkward acne phase of 3rd form and my skin needs something different now.
Dermalogica is an investment, I pay close to $100 for a bottle, but it lasts up to 12 months and I'll never look back. To make sure I don't get too trigger happy with the pump (I tended to give myself too much simply because I was pushing down too hard) I use a separate, smaller bottle which helps me manage how much I'm using.
You only need a small amount, the size of a pea, to create a really good lather. Of course if you're taking off makeup you might need to go for a second round.
It doesn't make my skin feel dry or tight - just fresh and clean.
Tips: Invest in a large bottle to get value for money, but only use a pea size amount each time you wash.
This is a fantastic cleanser in my eyes. Its a gel so it isn't too runny or too thick, it has just the right consistency. It really does work for all skin types as its not too harsh yet it has got enough of a kick to keep your skin clean and fresh. Its not too aggressive either, as in it doesn't make your skin feel like it has had all its nutrients taken out of it and stripped bare and raw. I would use this all the time, only if I could afford all the products I would need for my daily routine :)
I thought it was just a horrible coincidence that my skin broke out like crazy after using this, but my friend has just recently started using Special Cleansing Gel too and she's broken out just like me and in the exact same place.
I guess it did what it said it would, it cleansed my face, but my skin didn't react very well to it.
I used it once the other day while at a friends place, as I just needed to get my makeup off, and I really noticed the sensitivity and redness after I used it.
I personally won't be using this product again.
I will always be slightly biased when it comes to Dermalogica. As a qualified Beauty Therapist, it is the skincare range I trained in from day one, and I have used it both personally and professionally ever since.
The packaging is clean, simple and user friendly. The cleanser is a clear, gel like liquid, with minimal to no scent.
I can honestly say that this is a great cleanser. It does state that it is great for all skin types, and generally speaking this is true - however it's not a one size fits all product and I highly recommend speaking to a trained Dermalogica professional before purchasing this outright. (You might find there is a better alternative depending on your individual needs).
Dispense a very small amount (think 10c piece) into your hand, add water, lather up, and gently massage over the face. Rinse off with warm water or a warm cloth/sponge. Repeat.
This will remove all traces of make up - if you are using it to take off your make up, ensure that you do follow the double cleanse rule.
Follow with your chosen/prescribed exfoliant, toner and moisturiser.
Tips: Professional range products are best when individually prescribed for the specific needs of your own skin. Please talk to your Therapist before 'blindly' buying any skin care product. Their advice is free!
This is a lovely cleanser, soft on the skin and leaves your skin feeling super smooth. However, I find that cetaphil will give you the same results for quarter of the price.
In my opinion it is definitely not worth the price you pay for it and it didn't help with my acne prone skin either, sometimes the expensive stuff is just as good as the products you can buy at your local supermarket
Tips: A little goes a long way, it comes out quite fast so be careful
So this is certainly a step up from your standard supermarket foaming cleanser. It's not as damaging, and it's not full of colours of perfumes, but it still contains SLS. this is a great product for removing makeup, great for eyes and powers through foundation, but I still found it left my skin quite tight, I'd use the Dermalogica Multiactive toner and then the active moist, but my skin still felt really thirsty. It was better when I switched the their sensitive cleanser. i just found this really dried out my skin and mad it really uncomfortable. I never reacted and it didn't make me break out or redden my skin like a lot of other cleansers, but I just found it very stripping. Too much so for my skin. On the plus size, the bottle is massive, and you only use a tiny bit so it's certainly economical. I think this would be okay if you have very normal skin, but if you're oily like me, this will dehydrate and make you oilier.
Tips: I think gentler products usually do the trick just as well but without the dehydration issues. If a cleanser ever makes you feel tight, get something gentler without the SLS
I can not rave about this product enough, i am an addict lol. it leaves my skin feeling amazing and removes all my make up etc.
Tips: you only need a small amount about the size of a pin head and lather lather lather
I got a sample of this at a clinic and decided to give it a go.
Has a pleasant smell. It has a runny gel like consistency which you foam up is very silky and you just add a little more water if you want it to glide a bit more.
You only need a small amount, a little goes a long way with this gel. And a bottle lasts forever, I only got a sample size and it last me a good 4 months.
My skin felt really clean and fresh afterwards I have dry/sensitive skin, I found it was quite drying the more I used it on my skin, leaving my skin feeling a bit tight, especially round the cheek area.
A great product but just not right for my skin type.
Tips: Make sure to work into a good foam in your hands first before washing your face
