So this is certainly a step up from your standard supermarket foaming cleanser. It's not as damaging, and it's not full of colours of perfumes, but it still contains SLS. this is a great product for removing makeup, great for eyes and powers through foundation, but I still found it left my skin quite tight, I'd use the Dermalogica Multiactive toner and then the active moist, but my skin still felt really thirsty. It was better when I switched the their sensitive cleanser. i just found this really dried out my skin and mad it really uncomfortable. I never reacted and it didn't make me break out or redden my skin like a lot of other cleansers, but I just found it very stripping. Too much so for my skin. On the plus size, the bottle is massive, and you only use a tiny bit so it's certainly economical. I think this would be okay if you have very normal skin, but if you're oily like me, this will dehydrate and make you oilier.

Tips: I think gentler products usually do the trick just as well but without the dehydration issues. If a cleanser ever makes you feel tight, get something gentler without the SLS
This is a lovely cleanser, soft on the skin and leaves your skin feeling super smooth. However, I find that cetaphil will give you the same results for quarter of the price.
In my opinion it is definitely not worth the price you pay for it and it didn't help with my acne prone skin either, sometimes the expensive stuff is just as good as the products you can buy at your local supermarket
Tips: A little goes a long way, it comes out quite fast so be careful
I was put onto Dermalogica by a friend who works in the beauty industry. She explained that (in my mid-20s) I should try not to use cleansers that are aimed at teenagers - I'm past the awkward acne phase of 3rd form and my skin needs something different now.
Dermalogica is an investment, I pay close to $100 for a bottle, but it lasts up to 12 months and I'll never look back. To make sure I don't get too trigger happy with the pump (I tended to give myself too much simply because I was pushing down too hard) I use a separate, smaller bottle which helps me manage how much I'm using.
You only need a small amount, the size of a pea, to create a really good lather. Of course if you're taking off makeup you might need to go for a second round.
It doesn't make my skin feel dry or tight - just fresh and clean.
Tips: Invest in a large bottle to get value for money, but only use a pea size amount each time you wash.
You cannot go wrong with Dermalogica. I am really particular what goes on my face and I trust their products. Special Cleansing gel is easy to use. Only a small amount is needed and goes a long way. Bottle comes in various sizes. I always have a travel size too. Face feels so clean and smooth after use. Little bit in your hand with drop of water and rub together to make a foam to rub on your face. So easy and skin feels like a million dollars.
Tips: Little goes a long way and use everyday. Try some!
My skin is fairly normal, with the occasional dry areas and breakout. I have found this cleanser perfect for my skin, it kept in clear, reduced dryness and not harsh. I love Dermalogica products and this cleanser is no exception.
Tips: You don't need much as it foams up well with water. It is a bit more expensive than other products (but totally worth it), so I would look for deals or go for the bigger size as its more cost effective.
This would have to be my favourite cleanser. I have recently gone through trying out a variety of others trying to find a 'cheaper' option but I haven't found a single one that compares. I find this fantastic for my sensitive skin, I have never had any irritations. I have found it works great for removing light make up and also perfect for using in the shower.
Tips: To save on buying more products you can use this as a pre-cleanser too. Just wash your face twice, first to wash dirt and make-up off and second to actually wash your skin. I find this results in much cleaner and clearer skin overall. :-) Only use a tiny amount (which is all that is needed) and the price doesn't end up as expensive as you think as it lasts for ages!
I can not rave about this product enough, i am an addict lol. it leaves my skin feeling amazing and removes all my make up etc.
Tips: you only need a small amount about the size of a pin head and lather lather lather
I thought it was just a horrible coincidence that my skin broke out like crazy after using this, but my friend has just recently started using Special Cleansing Gel too and she's broken out just like me and in the exact same place.
I guess it did what it said it would, it cleansed my face, but my skin didn't react very well to it.
I used it once the other day while at a friends place, as I just needed to get my makeup off, and I really noticed the sensitivity and redness after I used it.
I personally won't be using this product again.
This is a fantastic cleanser in my eyes. Its a gel so it isn't too runny or too thick, it has just the right consistency. It really does work for all skin types as its not too harsh yet it has got enough of a kick to keep your skin clean and fresh. Its not too aggressive either, as in it doesn't make your skin feel like it has had all its nutrients taken out of it and stripped bare and raw. I would use this all the time, only if I could afford all the products I would need for my daily routine :)
I will always be slightly biased when it comes to Dermalogica. As a qualified Beauty Therapist, it is the skincare range I trained in from day one, and I have used it both personally and professionally ever since.
The packaging is clean, simple and user friendly. The cleanser is a clear, gel like liquid, with minimal to no scent.
I can honestly say that this is a great cleanser. It does state that it is great for all skin types, and generally speaking this is true - however it's not a one size fits all product and I highly recommend speaking to a trained Dermalogica professional before purchasing this outright. (You might find there is a better alternative depending on your individual needs).
Dispense a very small amount (think 10c piece) into your hand, add water, lather up, and gently massage over the face. Rinse off with warm water or a warm cloth/sponge. Repeat.
This will remove all traces of make up - if you are using it to take off your make up, ensure that you do follow the double cleanse rule.
Follow with your chosen/prescribed exfoliant, toner and moisturiser.
Tips: Professional range products are best when individually prescribed for the specific needs of your own skin. Please talk to your Therapist before 'blindly' buying any skin care product. Their advice is free!
