Dove Summer Glow Body Lotion Review

I'm not hugely into fake tans or anything and this product put me off even more. It felt like a regular body moisturizer, super thick in consistency, which made it hard for me to apply and to judge the amount that I needed to use. It was also very streaky, loved having people making comments about it the next day. Maybe for more advanced users of fake tans and such might have a better chance at making this look decent, but at least for beginners such as myself, I'd stay far away from this product.

Tanning in the sun is not my idea of fun putting myself at risk of sun damage and ultimately skin cancer......enter my life Dove Summer Glow Body Lotion!! Now fake tanning always scared the poop out of me because in the past using other brands I was left with orange looking legs and patchy spots. Dove Summer Glow Body Lotion is different it's a gradual process starting off as a night glow and darkening in to a nice tanned look which I love!

I followed the easy instructions to the tee and washed my hands afterward to avoid tan on my palms. My legs were never left patchy nor orange just a lovely summer glow like the name says. This is my fake tan of choice for my budget and I will continue to use because it's so easy and looks very natural like I have been kissed by the sun :)

I absolutely love this product, I love being nice and tan all year round and Dove Summer Glow helps me maintain an even and natural tan! I use the dark and it seems to just work with my skin beautifully. The scent is OK, nothing I would rave about but definitely not yuck. It is the perfect texture - beautiful and rich which leaves your skin looking healthy and hydrated!

I love Dove products. I always have a bottle of Dove Summer Glow. I have olive skin so choose medium to dark.

I think Dove Summer Glow is excellent value for money and goes a long way.

Packaging is standard and I always end up tipping the bottle on it's head to get the final lot of moisturiser. Although, I would prefer a pump dispenser.

You can honestly go from looking like white bait to having a sun kissed tan in 48 hours. If I have a last minute event, I will lather myself twice daily and just like magic I look like I have been lying on a beach somehwere warm.

But..... I do have to be careful as my technique applying is not too flash and I can end up with slighlty more "tanned" knees and elbows. lol. And you MUST wash your hands thoroughly after use or they will look silly and advertise what you have been doing.

Dove Body Glow mositurises your skin and leaves feeling soft and smooth. Texture of the moisturiser is thick and sometimes you have to give the bottle a good shake as it settles.

I always wait a few minutes after applying before getting dressed.

The fragrance is subtle, fruity but fresh. And other users of Dove Body Glow will know you are wearing it, from the scent.

I have very, very fair skin and use fake tan year round to achieve much darker skin. Whilst the Dove Summer Glow Body Lotion is a lovely product, it didn't work for me. Applying this to my natural, fair skin was like applying a standard moisturiser. It was easy to apply, absorbed well and left my skin feeling hydrated with no oily residue after two minutes. Unfortunately because this product has no colour guard, it really does look like a standard lotion, therefore I could not see patches that had no product, or areas that had too much. My skin remained hydrated until the next morning which was a lovely change from the tanning products that usually leave my skin feeling dry and tight.

However, the next morning I was left with patchy, streaky skin. There were parts of my legs that remained very pale, whilst others had streaks of tan. I applied on prepped skin and used circular motions, but because I couldn't see the product, combined with my fair skin, I was left with a streaky mess. The streaks were only one shade darker than my natural skin, and I do prefer a much darker finish. This product doesn't apply well with a tanning mitt, therefore I did have to scrub my hands after applying.

Whilst this product did not work for me, I can see that it would have its place. For anyone with medium to dark skin tones who are wanting a slight change could reach for this affordable product. It would be particularly fitting for older women who don't want to fuss around with fake tanners, and like the idea of a moisturiser that gives a slight tint. This would also be a nice product to apply after a day at the beach or to maintain a spray tan. I do believe the streaks were only so visible because of the original canvas.

I use this on a fairly regular basis in summer. It's easy to use, absorbs quickly and gives a pretry natural colour on my pale olive skin.

I only ever bother using this on my legs and usually use it a few times a week. It's so cheap so worth a try!

In my quest to get a bronzed, beach-ready look I think I've tried most tanning products on the market. I have a medium skin tone, and like to use tanning products to give me some extra colour for summer.

On a trip to the supermarket this caught my eye and I purchased this, hoping it would give me the look I was after, a lovely bronzed glow -ready to hit the beach!

However, I can't say that this product achieved that!

The packaging is distinctively Dove, in its flip top cap and simple, yet sleek look. I've tried many Dove products in the past and was hoping this would be good, as its so reasonably priced in comparison to my other tanning products I usually use, such as St Tropez and Loreal.

I can't say I'm a fan of the scent, which I found slightly overpowering. The fiancé asked 'what's that smell?', making it obvious he wasn't too impressed with what he thought was a new fragrance I was wearing! :-)

The formula quickly absorbs into my skin and makes it feel nice and hydrated. The lotion doesnt have a tint, so I found it hard to know if I had put it on evenly. I found when it dried it was rather streaky and obvious I had used tanning products- not a good look.

This is not a product I would repurchase, as I prefer tanning lotions to get a bronzed look & then normal moisturisers to maintain it.

Overall, I'm not impressed with this product, as it didnt seem to work for me.

I have used this for a few years now and it is the only self tanning product I use. Why? Because it has the least offensive smell and it is virtually fool proof. It is also the only Dove product I currently use. The package is easy to squeeze and hold on to with slippery hands. It can also be stored upside down on the lid, making it easy to get all the product out. I actually quite like the smell, which to me is quite tropical. It doesn't really have that distinctive fake tan smell. I usually only use it on my legs so I can't smell it when wearing it. It has a nice thick consistently so it doesn't run. It makes my legs feel really smooth and moisturised too. It does take awhile to build up colour as it is best to use little and often to avoid streaks. I'm fair but I have used the dark one before to build the colour faster. The colour is still fine but I'm more likely to get streaks using a darker one. This is also great as a tan extender. You can just use it daily as a body moisturiser. I do tend to exfoliate before using (sometimes that just means shaving my legs) I don't always bother to moisturise knees, ankles first. A 400ml bottle has lasted me the entire summer, including a trip to the tropics. I will definitely be repurchasing again next summer.
