Pilled on skin

I bought this with dr lewins serum and eye cream. While the other products were ok, if overpriced, this product was the worst of the three.

It wouldn't soak into the skin, left it feeling greasy and would pill so impossible to wear under make up. Even in morning wouldn't have fully soaked in from night more and had to make sure it was well washed off before putting make up on.

Threw half a jar away instead of finishing and I never do that! Especially not a product this pricey.

Bit of a fizzle

A big thank you to Beauty Review for letting me trial this product!

I’ve actually heard a little bit about the Luminosity range from Dr Lewinn’s Eternal Youth product line and there seemed to be quite a bit of hype about it – even the packaging advises that its already received 4/5 stars from another beauty review company.

I, however, was not impressed.

Firstly the product looks, feels and smells lovely – quite lightweight and almost gel-like in texture with a really pleasant fresh and slightly floral scent.

I applied the product generously to my face and neck (as per the instructions on the box) and at first it felt great – really silky and cooling – but I didn’t find it moisturising at all. And then after a few moments, it seemed to set on my skin (it felt like makeup) and it went a bit streaky and felt quite powdery. Upon reviewing the ingredients I noticed that the second ingredient is Aluminium Starch Octenylsuccinate which (according to Dr Google) is an ingredient commonly found in makeup such as face powder. Could this be the reason why?

The following day I used less product and while it didn’t streak as previously mentioned, my skin still didn’t feel hydrated at all. I also found that there was too much shimmer, which I found odd in a product that you wore to bed.

The instructions on the box advised that results are visible after 9 days however, I only lasted 5 at which point my skin felt tight and more dry than usual. However in all fairness, the product doesn’t claim to be super hydrating. I also didn’t use the Dr Lewinn’s Eternal Youth Luminosity Day and Night Golden Essence as the instructions suggest.

I also felt that with a RRP of nearly $75 and instructions to use generously both morning and night, this product could prove very costly for some.

Would I recommend this to a friend? To my friends with dry and/or dehydrated skin – no. It’s simply not moisturising enough. But if dehydration is not an issue for you, you may have better results.

Litlle Pot of Gold

Loved Loved Loved! The packaging is pretty cute and the scent is really fresh. Loved the texture, it’s super soft and after one application my skin felt instantly hydrated and stayed hydrated for full day. I applied more at night as my skin dried out over the cold south island wintry nights. Overall The texture of my skin felt smoother and the lines around my eyes stood out less. My skin looks and feels healthier and had a slight glow. i would love to say this would replace my current day and night cream BUT but as its around the $70 mark I will purchase when the budget allows.

Tips: This worked best after applying serum.

Dr Lewinn's eternal youth

I am also very sceptical about anti aging products, especially ones that are called eternal youth :P but I was presently surprised.

The packaging is awesome, looks great on my dresser which is always an added bonus, and the cream itself smells amazing.

My skin is usually normal, but I sometimes struggle with heavy creams which this appeared to be. Once it went on though, it was great, and it didn't make my skin oily and didn't feel heavy at all.

Liquid make up blends amazing over it, and I loved the fact that it is a night and day cream, as it can be hard to come across a good one.

It definitely makes the skin look instantly luminous, I was really really impressed by this and am even comfortable not wearing any foundation when I have put this on because it makes my skin look so good.

Am yet to see the long term brightness, hence the 4 stars, but I am confident based on the instant brightness that this will come!

I really loved this product and because it goes so far I will be prepared to pay the $75 for some more

Tips: - when using under makeup make sure you let it soak in properly before applying - the instructions say to use a generous amount but you only need a little!

Luxury in a jar

I was so excited to try this cream. It comes in the most gorgeous jar, all sparkly like a gem. I usually prefer pump containers, but this is thick enough that a jar is best- just make sure not to dip grubby fingers in!

The cream itself smells really nice and fresh, and for such a thick cream it doesn't feel heavy. It absorbs surprisingly well and doesn't leave any greasy marks on my pillow. I've only used it in the evening as I prefer spf in day creams.

I've been using it for a few weeks and my skin loves it. I'd have to use it for longer to see if it lives up to the "Eternal Youth" name! My skin feels smooth and firm and it hasn't broken me out- there aren't too many products that leave my face feeling so nice!

Tips: Use a small spatula or q-tip to get the cream out to avoid contamination.

Dr lewinns eternal youth day and night cream

Firstly the scent is to die for. The texture is soft and creamy and left my skin feeling amazing. No heavy residue that you get sometimes with face creams. I prefer a tube as I find potties can be a little unhygienic. I suffer with rosacea so I normally use a custom made skincare to avoid irritating my skin however this cream didn't give me any grief and is priced better than my current skincare products so it may be worth switching.

Lovely

The container is black with a pretty Dimond pattern shape cut in the lid that screws off, lovely packaging. The cream is white silky and soft and light to touch. This is easy as it’s day and night in one so go taking less products when you need less products, it’s great, and just slap on some sunblock on top for day wear. It’s fragrance is a little artificial a light plastic floral but only ever so lightly. This absorbed in without leaving a greasy feel or shine, did the job and left my skin moisturised and no tight feeling. I was moisturised in the morning with my skin feeling nice and soft. For a moisturiser for day and night this is a nice product it did the job it’s easy to cart around and if your not home just the one jar for face cream makes it too easy. A broad bean size was all I needed for my face and neck. I’d recommend this if your after a nice light cream that doesn’t leave skin feeling heavy or gluggy, my skin is usually dull and this cream did give it a little more brightness that's always a bonus as I think the older you get the duller your skin looks. I think it’s value for money.

Pure luxury!

I loved this product the minute I set eyes on it. The crystal like pottle adorned my bathroom like the reigning jewel that it is. The cream is lush and light with a hint of rose scent. It spread onto my skin with ease and was absorbed quickly - no grease! It only took a week to notice that my pores were smaller and the skin under my eyes was brighter. Such a gorgeous product.

Tips: Use it both day and night over any serum you may already be using the cream was very complementary to any other skin care I used.

My Face Sparkles!

First of all thank you BR for selecting me to review this product! Secondly, I admired the packaging for a good 10 minutes before I actually took the lid off. It was too gorgeous that I had to let this beauty have it's own space on my dresser (everything else got shoved in my drawer - sorry other beauty brands!). The solid plastic pot was topped with a plastic silver lid with a 3D mirror/kaleidoscope design to replicate a diamond and came packaged in a metallic rose gold box - hmm not going to be easy to throw this away when I'm done!

It wasn't until I took the lid off that I realised what the rose gold box was about. The cream is a light rose gold colour with shimmer (diamond powder) though it, which provides the luminosity on my skin. The fresh mellow floral scent is not too strong, and was barely noticeable after I applied my makeup. The cream is very lightweight and silky and spreads very easily over my skin.

The directions say to use after cleansing and toning which I tried a couple of times. I have dry skin so the two times I tried it with NO other product (except toner), within a couple of hours some parts of my skin were screaming for more moisture. I found by using an oil before using the cream was more comfortable and had no issues. This claims to generate long term brightness with visible effects in 9 days. This cream definitely brightens my face as soon as it hits my face but there have been no noticeable effects when I'm not wearing it. I've been using it for a good 9/10 days now (morning and evening as directed) and there's still plenty of product left to see if this changes.

Overall I love the luminosity this cream gives my skin and I love the convenience of having a cream that can be used day and night.

Tips: Although it looks tempting to scoop the cream out, I suggest dabbing your finger as it's so light and silky that you don't need much product to cover your face.

The bling, the bling, the bling.

Gar don't you hate it when you fall in love with an expensive product?!

Now I know people give pottles a bad rep for being unhygienic, but they never really bother me. I moisturise after I've had a shower, so I figure my fingers are clean. And it's not like I invite all and sundry to jab their dirty fingers in it, so me and the pottle are good.

What gorgeous packaging. The box is pure quality (I'm not a fan of extra packaging, but this was a delight to receive so I won't moan). The container is luxury. Heavy, sturdy, with a blinging faceted top. But it's not about the bling, the bling, the bling, it's about the product.

Which is blinging. Erm hello, it contains real gold. GOLD. (did you sing that Spandau Ballet stylie?!) The cream looks like a biege tinted moisturiser and it smells so fresh. Like cucumbers. It's a lotion consistency. It applies beautifully, absorbs quickly, the smell lasts a wee while, but it's not an annoying smell.

I have combo skin, oily t zone, dry cheeks/forehead. This product left my skin feeling smooth, soft and even, oily patches were de-oiled, dry patches were moisturised.

Now there's a lot science-y / marketing talk attached to this product, so let's cut to the chase. If I use it morning and night it's going to make my skin luminous and it's going to improve my skin cell production, meaning I should look glowy and youthful after 9 days.

And I do. Seriously. I wish I'd taken before and after photos. I'm prone to sallow skin and dull skin, I usually rely on makeup to give me a glow, but on makeup free days I'm looking fresh and have a nice glow. Not a shine, definitely important to mention that this doesn't make you shiny!

The only reason I marked this down slightly was the price. There's not a huge amount of product for the price tag (well it does contain gold...) and to be fair, a combined 'day and night cream' is essentially just a moisturiser.

But I will definitely be checking out more of the range and yes, I'll probably be picking up another one of these. And hiding the receipt.

Tips: Don't buy it unless you can afford to never live without it again. Because you're probably going to fall in love.
