essano Clear Complexion Purifying Gel Cleanser Review

I received this product as part of the BR trial team for the new Essano Under 25s regime. I have combination skin which has specific breakout zones with persistent pimples. My hope for this regime was that it would minimise or prevent breakouts.

The matte white packaging of the products in this range is really lovely. It is a generous size cleanser and I can tell it will last me a few months.

The scent is somewhere between vanilla and rose. It is a very light scent, although I do always wonder what is the need for fragrance in cleanser...?

The gel formula means it doesn't foam or lather when used. No matter how hard I swirled it over my face and neck it refused to give me bubbles! Personally I love getting a good lather on, so this was disappointing but to be expected from a gel.

My face definitely felt clean after use. It easily removes makeup and product buildup, without leaving my skin super tight afterwards.

The real question is whether the gel cleanser specifically contributed to fighting acne breakouts. As I have been using all the Essano range together, I is hard to tell which individual products (cleanser, serum, toner, spot gel, moisturiser) had the most effect. BUT, I can confirm that pimples have been kept to a minimum over the last two weeks!

Overall, it's not my favourite cleanser. I think I will stick to a foaming creme next time.

This is such a beautiful range especially for oily acne prone skin. I trialed it on my teenager and myself as I have an oily T zone and I love the organic natural and botanical ingredients and also that it's made in New Zealand. The success lies in the supermarket mass marketing which is great for such a natural product to break into.

My son didn't like the pink packaging it wasn't unisex, he thought it could be Orange.I loved the packaging it looks beautiful with silver and deep purple and pink it seems pretty and unassuming.

The cleanser rubbed in well it's like jelly and smells like caramelized honey, I thought it was good that it was soap free as sodium laurel sulphate strips the skin of oils, so it didn't foam like most soapy cleansers. It felt light and clean and removed all my waterproof makeup. It cleaned my sons skin very well and after a few days of using this range his pimples had all vanished!

I love the fact that it is a bioDTox which means it's clinically proven to control sebum, detoxify and clean pores. Not only is it all natural but it's scientifically formulated and dermatological tested. It's free of nasties such as parabens, silicone and is soap free.

This cleanser has a serum like consistency and doesn't really foam up like most do. So when I tried to use this alongside my electric face brush it clung rather than foamed to get an even cleanse. However if you use it by itself on a damp face it does work nicely being a gentle cleanser. Good to remove makeup and other surface things that are leftover from makeup wipes. However it does not provide a deep cleanse.

From all the Essano Clear Complexion products I was perhaps least impressed by this cleanser. Now, this product was not awful as I did feel it cleansed my skin but not as well as the product I was using previously. The gel consistency of the cleanser was definitely something new to me and I can't say I was big fan. As a gel the cleanser did not tend to lather and this combined with its clear colour meant it was sometimes hard to tell where it had been applied (thus harder to wash off!) Otherwise I did find the product easy to use - only a small amount was needed to wash and cleanse the face.

This facial cleanser is similar to most others. Many other cleansers that have the same effect. It does not leave my face feeling dry and it feels like it does a good job of cleaning out my pores. It contains natural ingredients which is good for the skin. The scent of this is not too frangranced. I would say that it partly does what it says, which is that it balances oil production.

Holy heck I actually live for this stuff! I’m so glad it has come into existence :-) packaging is cute, does the job, removes makeup, is not heavily fragranced and does not dry out skin although reigns back the oil! I have noticed a huge difference in my oil production mainly on my forehead and bridge of nose. You only need a little bit of productnand it soaks in rapidly. Definitely do not used right before makeup application but let dry for a minute or two.

This is really good at helping with my oily skin and cleaning extra makeup off but I did breakout a little and end up having a weird skin tone after using it regularly which I can't tell if it's the cleanser or I'm just sensitive to face washes in general. Not unlike the rest of the range the smell isn't fantastic. The cleanser definitely made my skin feel really clean and smooth after which is a bonus, it was also excellent for removing makeup as I already mentioned . I guess this wasn't all that different from a lot of other cleansers that are already out there on the market in a similar price bracket. Although I really liked the oil control it gave me, this was fairly well the only distinguishing feature.

Meh, I'm a little on the fence with this one. On its own i probably wouldn't be madly in love with it, but together with the other products from this range I kind of like it?

This comes in a simple plastic tube that allows easy control of how much you squeeze out each time. You only need about a pea sized amount or maybe a tiny bit more if you prefer a full lather on your face.

It has a thick gel texture, and doesn't foam much when I rub it between my hands. But it does feel very 'cleansing' when I rub it on my face, like I'm really removing all the surface dirt and oil. It leaves my face feeling clean and fresh, but a tiny bit dry. Don't think it really meets the claim of replenishing moisture, since I can feel my face NEEDING some moisturiser straight after using this cleanser.

It does have a bit of an umpleasant scent to it. I'm going to assume it's the natural smell of the ingredients, because noone would want to add a fragrance that smells like chemical cleaning products. It's not too bad when you smell it from the tube, but when slathering it all over your face it can be a bit strong.

Overall I think $15 for a cleanser isn't ridiculous... providing it's a really good cleanser that you love. I'm not loving this one as much as some of my other cleansers, so I don't think I'll be repurchasing this.

This is my new favourite little thing! Such cute and simple packaging. It has a lovely natural sweet smell. The cleanser has a great consistency and foams up a small amount when applied to the face. This makes it feel like it really is washing and getting into those pores. However, I must say it is very gentle on the skin.. I used it after getting sunburnt and it didn’t sting a bit! After use, it can make my skin feel quite dry, but in the morning, my skin is noticeably less oily. Another bonus to this product is the price!!
