Won't repeat trying this again

Whilst it is meant to be a “nutritious lotion,” for me, this was more of toner for my face. It felt like it was stripping off the moisture I already had on my face and didn’t feel like this lotion was adding any extra nutritions or moistures.

I tried layering this lotion over few times but the lotion was sticky and I couldn’t do layer this with my usual cotton pad. Not sure what this is meant to be achieving to be honest as my face felt much drier even after the cleansing ritual

Tips: Try using a thick cotton pad to use this as a cleansing water rather than the "lotion" I used on the area where I only had the waterproof sunscreens on and it was great since this was so strong and stripped off a lot!

Have I Missed Something?

I was very excited to try an Estee Lauder product as I have not used many products from this brand before.

The look of this product is sleek in a slim red container. I thought that because it is a 'lotion', that the product would be a thin moisturiser type consistency. However it is a very thin liquid. I was confused how to apply, because of the consistency, and the fact that the product does not specify how to use. So I opted to wet a cotton pad with the lotion and apply it on my face.

I felt as though I had to use quite a bit of product in order to effectively cover my face. It applied smoothly enough and had settled into my skin within a few seconds.

I was not overwhelmed by this product. I wonder if I have missed something, like a better way to apply, or a trick or something as I didn't feel as though it drastically changed or improved my skin. I will continue to use this and see what happens, but I wouldn't purchase this with my own money.

Initially good, then broke me out

When I first saw this I literally thought "what even is this?!". I've come across different names of products in the past, and because of the consistency of it I assumed it would be used as a toner. Honestly didn't have much instructions on how or what to use it as, but decided life is too short to worry over it because it's gonna be slathered on my face anyway!

It has a screw-on cap which, again, like I stated in my gel emulson review, I'd have preferred one that just popped open due to accessibility. When you pour it out, it mostly just drips down sort of messily, so make sure you've either got your cotton pad or palm ready to catch all the product.

So the consistency is basically like water which is perfect as the first step in your skincare routine (after cleansing, of course!). I liked to generously pour a coin-sized amount into my palm, rub my hands together, then pat it all over my face so my skin can absorb it better. It dried down seamlessly, and left my face feeling smooth and hydrated.

The smell is very, very faint. If you compare the scents between this product and the gel emulsion with the emulsion at 80% power, then this product would be about 10% in strength. The smell is barely there which I think is a great thing since toners prep your skin and shouldn't smell too strongly.

In the two weeks I've used this product, I had unfortunately started seeing random whiteheads and milia pop up which was a tad disheartening due to my initial and instant liking of the 'lotion'. I also noticed that my face, especially my forehead, got shinier and oilier than usual, like literal natural highlight, and not the good kind either. I don't believe it gave me a "glow" nor a look of "radiant vitality" - it's basically your run-of-the-mill toner (except hugely more expensive).

In conclusion, I would not go out and purchase this, as I believe there are far cheaper alternatives that are more effective in keeping your skin hydrated while not causing any breakouts. Due to my reaction I would not continue using this, or if I do, I'd probably just use it on my arms rather than my face.

Tips: just pour it onto your hands and pat it straight into your face to save cotton pads and for better absorption!

Too expensive and too drying

Just as a bit of background on my skin type, I vary between normal/combination/oily depending on a number of factors. I'm 25 years old, but still prone to the occasional breakout.

This product comes in a large red bottle with a silver lid that definitely looks expensive. There is 200 ml of product and it retails for $87. The only instructions for this product were found on the bottom of the bottle and just says "Pat on using fingertips or cotton pad - AM and PM". Under the lid there's a small hole so you can dispense the product. The scent of this product is nice and fresh, although I did find there was a bit of an alcohol smell to it but it didn't linger once absorbed into the skin.

When I first went to use this product I was a bit confused. It's called a lotion but it has the exact same consistency as water. It doesn't seem to be a lotion at all, and if anything I would describe it as a toner. I found that applying it with a cotton pad wasted too much product. I decided that the best way to apply it was to put a small amount in the palm of my hand, bring my face to my palm, spread it around and allow it to absorb. After that I would apply the matching moisturiser.

This product claims it's meant to deeply hydrate and infuse the skin with moisture, but I unfortunately didn't find this to be the case at all. In fact my face felt dry and tight after using this product, which is strange because I'm usually more prone to oiliness. I used this product for just over a week before I decided to take a break to see if it was definitely this product causing my skin to react this way. I found my skin was no longer dry after I stopped using this product and only used the matching moisturiser.

I looked into what ingredients were in this product as it wasn't displayed on the bottle. Although it contains a number of antioxidants, the second largest ingredient in this product is alcohol which is a major cause of dryness when used in high amounts.

Overall I can't recommend this product as it doesn't "deeply hydrate" like it claims, it contains too much alcohol, and at $87 it is on the pricey side.

Fresh and nourished skin

I was lucky enough to be selected in the trial team for this product to be used alongside a moisturiser. On receiving the product, the first thing I noticed was the large bottle size. Some of these luxury beauty products tend to be a bit stingy with tiny little products that only last a few weeks so that made me happy to see. The bright red bottle immediately gave me the impression that it would be packed full of pomegranate goodness. The second thing I noticed was that there were no instructions for how to use it. It was very liquidy so I poured it onto a cotton pad and noticed it had a similar consistency to a toner. This is how I used it, applying to just-cleansed skin twice a day with a cotton pad. The smell is fresh and pleasant and it glides onto the skin easily. Initially I used a bit too much but now I know that a little bit goes a long way. On application, my skin tingled slightly then cooled as the product absorbed. It left my skin feeling refreshed and lightly moisturised and well toned, a great base for a moisturiser. Overall I thought this product was perfect as a toner but I can't say it left my skin looking "radiant" as promised and with the hefty price tag, I wouldn't personally buy it for myself because it didn't give me better results than my $30 Body Shop toner. I am however interested to see if using this product alongside the moisturiser long term will improve my skin. Time will tell.

I've never heard of it - it sounds interesting. Shame it didn't perform a bit better.

Beautiful product but not for oily skin

The packaging on this is gorgeous. The lotion is a thin watery consistency and a few drops goes a long way. It smells strongly of pomegranate which I loved. It absorbs into the skin quickly. I used this along with the matching emulsion. I have oily skin that's prone to nasty breakouts and sadly my skin did not love this product. In conjunction with the emulsion I found that it made my skin greasy and my makeup broke up with the oil production. I stopped using it and gave it to a friend who has normal skin and she loved it. The duo definitely gave her a healthy dewy glow right from the first application.

Tips: If you have oily skin like me I'd give this one a miss but if you have normal to dry skin and are looking for a bit of a glow then this would be great.

Estee Lauder Nutritious Radiant Energy Lotion

I'm going to start off this review by stating upfront that I wasn't entirely sure what this product was exactly but my guess is that it is similar to a toner. I could be living under a rock but I haven't come across anything with a similar name before so there was a slight bit of confusion to start off. There were no directions on the bottle and the name states it is a radiant energy lotion? That to me could mean many things? Anyway I went ahead and have been using in place of a toner. I would agree with the claims of hydration but it did nothing for my skin as far as improving radiance. The smell is nice, it left my face a little sticky feeling afterwards. Otherwise it wasn't really anything spectacular, I don't feel my skin is better off for using it for nearly two weeks now. The packaging is nice, a red bottle with silver lid and good quality as one would expect from this brand but the packaging is probably my favourite thing about this product overall. Definately be careful to avoid the eye area, it can burn a little in those sensitive areas.

Nicely Nutritious- Not Worth the Price Tag!

If the name of this product confuses you too, then we're on the same page. It seems the Estee Lauder marketing team have strung a line of words together that sound very appealing, but that can't easily be achieved. Labelling this a lotion is beyond my conception of a lotion as it feels far more like a spritz, or at the very most, a watery essence. I would struggle to pay the RRP, and as such, would not purchase myself, or recommend to a friend.

In saying all of that, this is a nice product to use when your skin is clean and you're about to layer on some moisturisers. I feel like it delivers a freshness to the skin and prepares it for other products to follow. Other than using it for a moisturising boost during the day, this is certainly no stand-alone product.

I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly my skin absorbed the 'lotion' as it feels very watery to the touch. With a few pats though, it soaks in and leaves skin looking nicely dewy.

I'm not a huge fan of fragrance in my skincare as I think it's superfluous and often irritating. However, this one smells pleasant and the ingredients seem to be gentle enough not to sting or irritate my rather sensitive skin.

Overall, this is a nice product to have on hand, and I'll continue to use it, but it isn't one that I'll be rushing out to replace. It makes you feel fancy to use it and it's very much a luxury item; if you're in the mood to treat yourself, this might be just what you're looking for.

Tips: Keeping this in the fridge would be a great way to refresh your face on a hot summer's day!

Boost of fresh hydration

This is an Asian "lotion", not a Western lotion/moisturiser, more like a hydrating toner. I apply it to my face after cleansing using my hands. It has a light, watery texture and leaves my skin feeling plump and hydrated. There is a very slight tacky residue that disappears quickly. It has a fresh, fruity, artificial pomegranate scent.

This product is good for preparing the skin to absorb further moisture and can be layered for more effect.

I wouldn't purchase it myself as it's very expensive.

Hydrated And Happy

I would love to know what's in this product!

Before using this product I was struggling with redness and a bit of dehydration. Now, my skin looks smooth, fresh and hydrated!

I've worked this into my skin routine along with my usual products and I do definitely think I see better results. I would definitely still follow it up with a moisturiser as the lotion provides a great hydration boost, but needs something to lock it all in.

One thing I did find is that if you are using this over the top of your regular serums, you have to use quite a lot. I opted to pat the serum into my face instead of wipe it on with a cotton pad to not risk wiping off any of my regular serums underneath. This did mean I had to use quite a lot to get even coverage, and the process of patting it into your skin does take a long time.

The absorption could be better as I did find it sat on my skin for quite a while. It has a slight sticky feel once it's dried and does also make your skin appear quite shiny. This was helped by following up with a moisturiser but if you opt not to, I would definitely make sure you put some powder over the top as the shine is quite severe.

Overall, I have really liked the hydration this has given my skin and it feels a lot more balanced and less prone to sensitivity. However, because of the price and the slight issues with the finish I wouldn't repurchase.

Tips: Pop it on after your normal light serums but follow it up with a slightly heavier oil or moisturiser to really lock all that goodness in!
