This lotion was lovely, I used it after having a shower. I love the scent, it smells botanical and expensive. The texture of the lotion was thin and creamy, it spread well on the skin, but needed a bit of massaging it be absorbed. I felt it keeps my skin feeling soft and well moisturised without feeling sticky. I have very sensitive hands and most body moisturises react when I use the lotion on my hands, however this lotion was soothing on my sensitive skin.

I absolutely loved the refreshing scent of this lotion. Anything with Avocado and Lime is perfect for me. I'm honestly really bad at making sure I moisturise my skin properly all the time, but as I trialled this product I made sure I did and I saw some great results in the softest of my skin. The only thing I found that was a slight problem, was that it took quite a look of time to rub the product into my skin, before it stopped looking white on my legs and blended into my legs. But aside from that, I was surprised at how soft my skin felt. I will definitely be continuing using this product and have now discovered a new brand to try more products from.
Tips: Start off just using a small portion of the product and then build it up if necessary.
I had never tried Evolu, despite hearing so much about it, so was delighted to receive this in the Beautiful Christmas advent calendar. I received a 30 ml size, which came in a simpler-than-the-full-size white inverted tube with a screw cap at the base for dispensing product. I'm *not* a fan of screw caps on lotions because logistically they don't make sense.... but hey, nitpicking :)
The Evolu Smoothing Body Lotion is a thickish white cream. It smells refreshingly of the lime and lemon included in the mixture. The formula is lovely - but (and here's where I removed a point) - can sit on your skin until it's worked in. It doesn't absorb readily; it needs a bit of effort. I have no idea why. Once it does absorb it leaves skin beautifully soft and freshly scented - along with dry to the touch; no residue here!
I think the pricetag is too hefty for me to consider buying this too often, but I have loved using the mini and would happily use it again.
Tips: try it in store - the consistency and absorbency won't be for everyone
I like this body lotion and would have easily repurchased it but unfortunately I don’t like the fragrance. I received a 30ml tube in the 2015 Beautiful NZ Christmas Advent Calendar, due to the small size I initially thought it was a hand cream!
There is nothing special about the soft white plastic packaging other than it looks simple and clean. The lotion is of a light weight consistency which is relatively easy to work into the skin (compared to heavy hitters like Alpha Keri). The first time I applied it, I felt it took long to be absorbed into the skin but after using it repeatedly I found it easy enough.
One of my favourite things about this product is that it does not leave any residue on your skin or hands, I absolutely love that! I can feel the difference straight away, my skin feels soft and smooth and when I run my hands over my skin there is no tugging as if the lotion had dried down to some funny texture. My skin feels hydrated for the rest of the day and when I shower I don’t feel like lotion is running off of my body!
Even though this body lotion performs well I really wish it had a scent that was more favourable. I can detect lime (which happens to be one of my favourite scents!) but the rest is a mish mash of “natural” fragrances. In the Islands, we burn wood to prepare for the underground oven (known in NZ as a hangi) and this lotion gives off that scent but I can reassure the burning of wood smells better than this. The lotion smells like burning wood mixed with lemon lime dish liquid.
If you can get past the scent then I would recommend it but if you’re like me and have to have a lotion that smells delicious then you might want to skip this one.
There is always something special about New Zealand made, natural products. This one is advertised as a lightweight body lotion - and that it is. It spreads and absorbs easily but is heavy duty enough to be a lotion rather than a hand cream. It leaves no oily or sticky residue, making it suitable for morning and evening application.
The biggest bonus for me is the 200ml size, in plastic tube packaging. This will last a long time even when I am using it twice daily. I have been using it twice daily while trialing this product; however, I will now continue to use it in the morning whilst using a heavier body butter or oil before bed. Whilst this has left my skin soft and hydrated, it hasn't quite done the trick on particularly dry areas such as my shins and elbows.
Scent is an important factor for me when purchasing a body lotion. The scent of this product is subtle and doesn't smell strongly of any of the ingredients listed in the description. In saying that, I am probably used to overly fragranced products so it is possibly unfair to compare a natural product to those. My mum loves the scent of this (or lack of) as she doesn't like to be able to smell her lotions.
Overall, I would repurchase this as a gift as I know a lot of people who love natural, New Zealand made products and the Evolu brand. It performs well and it would last them a long time. I would not repurchase this for myself as I will be reaching for something with a heavier scent.
This is such a nice, everyday moisturiser. It has a very light, botanical scent that doesn't interfere with perfumes/body sprays. It does appear to be a thick lotion when you first apply it and it does take some work to rub it all in but you really feel like it is doing some good, not just a light lotion that just is absorbed to nothing quickly. And although it feels thick, once its rubbed in it doesn't leave any residue/feel sticky on the skin. I got into the habit of applying this every morning after my shower and have even been using it as a hand cream at night too as its so hydrating. Love that it is a NZ product with botanical ingredients but I do usually prefer something with a bit more of a scent and wish it was a bit easier to rub in, hence my overall rating not being 5/5. I think if you had sensitive skin this would be a really good option.
Tips: Use it straight after you get out of the shower to help it absorb a little easier. I also found it was really great to use after I had been swimming as it helps to hydrate the skin again as chlorine tends to try it out.
I was excited to try this product because I have horribly dry skin and have had always used body oils.
Its a good sized product and I didnt need too much product because it was thick, felt more like a heavy cream than a lotion. It takes a while for the lotion to spread and initially feels heavy on the skin but felt well hydrated once it absorbs. I wish it was hyrating enough to moisturise my hands but to be fair, I work in the medical field and need to wash my hands a gazillion times a shift.
It smells like some sort of chemical instead of being fresh but that did not bother me so much.
Overall, the smoothing body lotion is a good product. It was good for the areas of my body that was not overly dry.
Tips: Warm the lotion in your hands before applying on skin.
Evolu Smoothing Body lotion arrived in a easy to open box, with a small information brochure, including voucher for future purchases, with the product in a tube. The packaging is simple, yet effective with no overuse of printing chemicals. Opening the product, the texture is soft, non greasy and with a natural scent, that is not to overpowering, a remarkable change from most of my other body lotions. I readily applied before a shower to see the effect the product would have for the first week, massaging gently into elbows, feet and heels, and my knees, the product is absorbed quickly and there is no after feel about it. The fact that it is non greasy allows for little to no transfer to clothes, and this is a benefit I like very much. Second week trial, and this involved after a shower, the product moved more freely around warmed skin, and left a subtle but natural fragrance, the product itself is very lightweight. whether you use it after a shower or before is entirely up to yourself, I didn't see any major change from application, however over the two weeks, some areas that has me concerned are beginning to show signs of improvement, my hands are looking gentler and nicer and thats just from putting it on, overall this has been a enjoyable experience! and i just might of found my new must have!
Tips: take your time to really enjoy this product its all about you.
I was fortunate enough to review this moisturizer at the right time as I have been suffering from dry legs since the beginning of winter! The appearance of the skin on my legs before I started using Evolu Smoothing Body Lotion was dry and scaly and occasionally itchy (I guess my hot showers weren't doing me any favours). From the first application my legs felt very moisturized, smoother and softer as it claims. I guess you could say 'hydrated'.
The consistency is rather thick and it takes a wee while to rub the product all the way into my skin, not ideal for immediate dressing, and I am not a fan of the lingering lime scent from the lime oil (think roses lime cordial!?) But with this aside it does do a great job at moisturising. Non oily as it states.
Would be nice as a post sun cream in summer - may even melt/absorb into skin quicker in the warmer month?
Tips: Apply after an evening shower or bath, then put pajamas on and let the product soak in while your sleeping.
This tube of body lotion is quite big and has very appealing packaging - the design is gorgeous and the feel of the bottle is nice. I like that the lid is the base, so there won't be any shaking like a tomato sauce bottle towards the end of it. The lotion itself smells very fresh and natural, with hints of (I think) ginger and lime. When using it, the lotion is a lot thicker than what I'd call a lotion, but it spreads really nicely. Usually I would squeeze out a line of lotion all the way from my knee to my ankle in order to moisturize my lower legs, with this lotion however I only need an amount the size of a new 20c coin!! Which utterly amazed me.
Spreading it down my legs the lotion actually looks to become more white, but then sinks in after 30 seconds or so. My legs don't feel really hydrated straight away, but after a week of using this lotion nightly I have seen a marked improvement in dryness of my skin. The only thing is it doesn't give you that super soft hydrated skin feel right away, instead you need to wait to see results. In other words, it's like there is no wow factor.
I do like this lotion because I want my skin to be healthy and I don't mind the price tag as much as when I first saw the product because I now know how far it goes. I think it's a good product for people like me who are having issues with dry skin, but it's not a product that's solely for pampering yourself (even if it does smell like a botanical spa treatment).
