This cleanser is so gentle, which is surprising for a purifying cleanser which usually lean to being quite drying. Not this though - my skin feels supple and hydrated after use before I've moisturised!
I love the faint peppermint-y smell, it's refreshing and invigorating, especially in the morning!
You only need a small amount, so the big tube will last ages, making the price really good!
This is a fantastic product for those with oily skin!
This gel cleanser is light and refreshing to use. It has a slight scent, but it doesn't smell overly fragranced, it just smells nice!
It doesn't lather much, which I love as I feel the more foam the more drying a wash. You really only need a small dollop of it, and considering that will wash your face, chest and back, its going to last ages!
I've found my skin has been less oily, and more consistent through the day. My breakouts have dramatically reduced, as have the spots on my back and chest.
My skin looks and feels smoother and more even than 2 weeks ago - I think this product is a real game changer for those of us with oily and acne prone skin!
We were fortunate enough to be selected for this trial product. By we I mean my 13 year old son Macyn and me! So this is a review with a difference. Two different ages, and very different skin types trialing the same product! We both used this for 5 days in a row, once a day.
Appearance: Macyn – I liked the tube’s colour and design. It didn’t look too girly. It was easy to use too. The gel was clear and smelt like clean. When I put it on my face it foamed up and spread easily. It washed off without too much effort as well. Mum- I too liked the packaging and found it easy to dispense the product. The product itself was a clear gel with a slight fragrance that was pleasant. Application was simple, wet skin, apply the gel which turns into a rich foam and rinse off!
Results: Macyn – Day one I had a few small zits on my forehead and one bigger one on my cheek. When I used this wash I could feel a tingle but it didn’t hurt and when I rinsed it off my face felt clean and soft. Day 3 and all but the cheek pimple was gone and the one on my cheek was smaller than when we started and by day 5 that one was gone too. Mum said she could see that my whole face looked a lot healthier too. Mum – I have tried several La Roche-Posay products now and loved them all but this particular product would not be one that I would have ever picked up off the shelf as I have dry skin with very few breakouts. I was concerned that using a cleanser designed for such a different skin type would dry me out so even though I have trust in the quality of the brand I was skeptical that this one would work for me. I used this gel once a day and was quite surprised by it. Firstly even with no exfoliating beads and the gel like texture this product really leaves the skin feeling like you have just used a grainy scrub. Smooth, soft and clean are the adjectives that come to mind when describing how it felt after use. The even bigger surprise was the effect it had. I didn’t have any breakouts so wasn’t expecting it to clear anything up but I did have concerns about it drying my skin out which it didn’t. In fact it actually appeared to help with my dry patches and seemed to help my moisturiser absorb into my skin better too.
Conclusion: Macyn – I will keep using this product. It seems to be improving my skin and its not too hard to use Mum – I will buy this for my son again. The improvements in his skin are noticeable, the price point is reasonable and the brand is becoming easier to find in stores as well. I probably won’t continue long-term, consistent usage on my face as I have other fave products but certainly won’t be afraid to steal some if I am out of mine.
Tips: Do not be afraid to try this even if you have drier skin. It’s a great product that anyone in the family can use.
The gel cleansers I'm most familiar with are those that I used as a teenager to strip my skin of as much oil as possible in the (mistaken) hope that it'd stop my skin breaking out. I can report that this one is nothing like those! The failed results of the above experiment have seen me avoid gel cleansers for a long while now and it was nothing but my trust in this brand that spurred me to set my old prejudices aside- and I'm glad I did.
The product comes out very sparingly from the tube and is clear and fragrance-free. I've been using around a pea-size amount and it cleans my whole face thoroughly. It doesn't foam or soap up excessively and I find it has a cooling, refreshing feel to it. This isn't a messy face wash that's going to drip everywhere and make you want to get it off your face as quickly as possible so I've enjoyed taking my time and really massaging it into my face.
It works well to remove my make up and I haven't found a double-cleanse entirely necessary. I do notice that my skins feels smoother, and any blemishes I that've attempted to pop up have kind of disappeared before making themselves too apparent- that's a win in my book! My skin is definitely on the dry side, especially in winter, but this cleanser hasn't left it feeling tight and dry.
This is a no-frills but effective face wash that does what it says it will which is exactly the type of product I look for. I would absolutely purchase this cleanser when I run out and it's one I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others. Another success from LRP!
Tips: Great for a morning freshen up, or an evening take the day off cleanse.
I wasn't really sure what to expect with this, but WOW! I have really enjoyed using this. At first I wasn't really sure how much to use as it comes out quite slowly but I quickly learnt I didn't need too much. I've been using this on my face but my partner has also been using this on his back as he is quite prone to acne there. I looove the way this leaves my skin feeling, almost like it's been buffed and polished, but without the harsh feeling from an exfoliator. Products like this usually make my face feel "squeeky clean" if you get what this means? But this doesn't make my skin feel dry or "squeeky" at all. My skin is looking and feeling amazing at the moment, better than it has been in a long time! My partner even said to me the other night "I thought you took your makeup off?" and when I said that I had he said "wow your skin is looking so good", that made me feel so amazing!!
Overall I have really enjoyed this, a little goes a long way with this so I'd be happy to pay the extra money to get this product over supermarket products I have been using.
Tips: Be careful not to get this in your mouth haha it's yuck!
I've loved every La Roche Posay product I've tried and this was no exception. The only negative I can think of is the teeny tiny writing on the back of the product with the instructions! I used this on my face, neck and decolletage morning and night for 4 days and my skin already feels tighter and smoother. My face oil seems to absorb better and the little spots on my lower chest have reduced markedly. It works as a cleanser both over the basin and in the shower, lathering up nicely as long as your face is wet to begin with. There was a little tingle the first few times but nothing unpleasant and who minds a little tingle to tell you it's working right? I used surprisingly little to get a good lather, going by the size of the tube, it'll last a good while. I'm looking forward to continuing to use this product and see if the tightening and brightening of my skin continues!
Tips: Make sure you lather up on your neck and chest too!
I have used the Micro-Peeling Purifying Gel Cleanser For a week now with mixed results. The packaging is classy and clear to read. Only a small amount of the gel is required for adequate coverage, it lathers well in your hands and certainly makes your face feel super clean. However I did feel like my skin was extra dry after using and needed a lot more moisturiser, as well as my hands due to using them to apply it. I feel like it would be effective in cleansing acne prone skin but would need to be complimented with a very good moisturiser and hand cream to avoid drying ones skin out.
I was expecting more of a scrub feeling from the La Roche Posay Effaclar Micro Peeling Purifying Gel Cleanser however it's a beautifully smooth foaming cleanse with no gritty bits! A small amount lathered up with water and rinsed away and your skin is left feeling super clean and refreshed. After a longer period of use oily skin is under control.
This luxury product really is value for money as you only need a small amount to get a great lather. The tube is a substantial 200mls. Easily 3 -6 months of use.
There is no real fragrance, just a great product doing its job! Salicylic Acid really works to refine your pores and cut down on excess oil production, leaving behind radiant skin with a glow.
Tips: Moisten skin with water, use only a small amount, lather up avoiding eye area and rinse away with more water. Pat dry with a clean towel.
Use on face and or body.
Especially good for problem skins producing too much oil or acne prone.
Follow with more beautiful La Roche Posay products or a light moisturizer to ensure skin has some elemental protection.
I was lucky enough to Trail this for nearly 2wks, and oh my I am so impressed!
Since lockdown my skin has been breaking out with no real reason and has been driving me crazy. I've made this part of my morning routine to see if it would help the past two wks. My skin has stopped breaking out and is starting to look fantastic again. I do notice though if I forget to use it for a day or two... It has not caused any crazy issues like itchy skin like so many do with my sensitive skin which I love.
This is definitely going to be on my permanent use list as its been great!
Tips: I do find i need to make sure i moisturise otherwise by late afternoon my skin feels very dry where there was blemishes before I started using it.
A little goes a long way i find.
ive never used a cleanser before, after using this product il definately be cleansing more often, my skin has never felt so nice and soft. Its easy to apply as well. Im in my 40s so trying new things that make me boost my confidence and self esteem is great.
