Garnier SkinActive Pure Charcoal Tissue Mask with Black Algae Review

I love me a good sheet mask, when I saw this at The Warehouse I just had to have it. It was $4.95 which is a good price.

Upon opening I realised the mask was black which suprised me, but as it is a charcoal mask I should have expected it. I had a bit of a chuckle when I had it on as I looked quite funny.

It is the same as the hydra bomb masks where you peel off one layer, I actually find it easier to peel the layer off before I apply it. It fits well and lines up quite good to my eyes, nose and mouth.

It is drenched in product so is very cold when you apply, not the best on a cold winters night, would be lovely and refreshing in summer for sure. 

I have dry, sensitive skin and get no irritation at all, after 20 minutes my skin is left feeling super hydrated and plump. It gives my skin a great glow and appears brighter. It does not cause any breakouts.

I absolutely love these masks and highly recommend for a pamper night or for a bit of a pick me up. Nice one Garnier!

I got given this Mask from a friend and decided to use it after a bit of a stressful week, now I just need to remember to buy more because it is definitely something that I would like to use once a week. The mask is very wet and when you first apply it to your face it feels so good, it has a really nice cooling feeling which would be perfect for the summer. The mask is really easy to apply, it fits my face perfect and even stays on well if I needed to walk around, although I did try to lie down for most of the 15 min just to relax a bit. I actually quite like the smell of it too, it was quite a fresh clean scent that wasn't overpowering. Once I took the mask off I rubbed the excess formula into my skin and waited for it to dry. My face was definitely alot softer and moistured which I really needed because my face gets very dry in patches. I love the clean fresh feeling it left and can't wait to use it again.

I got this mask in the beautiful Christmas BBBE. I always find tissue masks extraordinary things but I'm getting used to them over time. I thought I'd give this one a shot in honour of the new year.

It comes in a nice big packet, the branding of which is black and green and highly representative of black algae. Once opened, the mask inside looks like a large dead slimey thing. And feels like a large dead squidgy slimy thing. But when I put it on my face, it was very cooling and refreshing. I slapped it on (literally) over my make up - quelle horreur! I figured it might as well prove itself. It was so simple to apply. Then I was watching Made in Chelsea so left it on for around 50 minutes.

When I removed it I rubbed the outside into my face and neck to use up the extra product. Once it dried, my skin felt lovely and clean and soft. And it stayed soft overnight.

And I didn't notice any sensitivity at all.

This is a great tissue mask and I highly recommend it. I'll certainly be using this mask again.

My skin has a tendency towards blackheads and looking grimy - while being dry with a slightly oily t-zone - so I was excited to see this mask on the supermarket shelf.

It's a standard sheet mask - in that it's a mask with serum infused. It applied easily and sat well on my face, unlike some masks that require constant negotiation during the sitting time.

I took it off after 20 or so minutes and massaged in the serum leftover on my face. On looking in the mirror I loved how my skin looked. It was clearer, more plumped and glowed. I was worried the charcoal would leave it dry - but that was not the case.

Since that first try I've used this again and again (love the price!) and I'm a fan. Would recommend.

Super easy to use, just cleanse your face first, open the packet and open out the mask and pop on your face. Just adjust the mask to fit your face.

Very hydrating feeling. There is a lot of product on the mask so was pretty slippery. Just left it on the 15 minutes and then rubbed the excess into face and down neck.

It felt a little tingly at times but not burning or anything, just a nice tingle. I get quite sensitive skin too so felt good not to have it uncomfortable. Felt very cooling and hydrating. Skin looked clean and clear afterwards. Pore were minimised, and looked refreshed straight after.

I would use it again and would love to try the other ones too.

The only thing I didn't really like was how slippery the mask was, just felt like a bit too much product which felt like could be enough for a couple masks in the packet. I guess it's not a bad thing though because you can use the excess on your neck and across your decolletage.

Thanks to Beauty Review I've become a bit of a tissue mask fiend. When I opened this mask I was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the 'tissue'.

It feels thick - I was worried it wouldn't stick to my contours, but it is actually really pliable. You can quite firmly pull and move it in to place, and it does actually have a bit of stretch (I have a big head haha, it needed a bit of extra pulling over the five-head)

You look as daft as ever wearing it, but it's still a lovely feeling to have it on. Cooling and refreshing, and it feels secure, so you really can go about your business, fold the washing, do the dishes etc. Or lay on the couch and relax. Whatever's your masking jam.

It is saturated in serum. I mean you could probably soak two masks with the amount of product in the sachet, but I'd rather that than a stingy amount. I used the excess on my decolletage, neck and hands.

Immediately after use my skin felt very soft, but also very clean and refreshed. The pores on my oil-slick of a chin looked clearer and definitely more refined. I was really impressed!

I would definitely repurchase this, especially for these hot summer days where my skin feels gross after a day in the heat!

I'm hoping for a multi-pack of masks from Garnier - it would be more economical and I'd use them more, meaning my skin would look fab more often!

I'm in my late teens with skin prone to blackheads and oil. I have a really basic skin care routine and enjoyed adding in this extra treatment.

The mask is easy to apply, and not as thin as I would have thought! It's quite wet, I was worried it was going to be sliding off my face, but it stayed put!

The serum is cooling and fresh and I could feel it working, but in a comfortable way. Not quite a tingle, but that reassuring feeling you're not looking like a serial killer for no reason!

I found my skin felt and looked smooth. It definitely seemed to remove impurities from my pores. I picked up another one with my shopping this weekend, I'm going to make this a weekly treat for my skin!

I really recommend this as an inexpensive treat for your skin!

This tissue mask is divine!!

It goes on really wet which in this weather is fabulous! The mask doesn't move once in place, I found it a little fiddly to unfold, but it didn't tear. The mask 'fabric' is much better quality than others I've used!

I used the left-over liquid left in the sachet on my décolletage.

First off, the packaging is nice and simple and details how to use the product really easily with a nice and clear infographic. When you first take it out of the package, you can tell the mask has a lot of product in it as it is quite heavy. When applying, it goes to the shape of your face well - it is easy to mould to your features. It doesn’t fall, peel or slip off the skin at all, it sticks really well. Don’t be scared when you look in the mirror haha black face masks are always a little bit weird looking. The scent is really gentle and clean, it’s not strong or overpowering at all. It feels nice and cooling on the skin. The liquid solution itself doesn’t linger on your skin for ages, it absorbs into your skin quickly so you don't have to wait around while it dries. It feels amazingly smooth and soft once it absorbs. The mask stays a bit damp during the 15 minutes you are meant to leave it on for, it doesn’t dry out too much. It continues to feel nice and not burning during the 15 mins. It would be good for sensitive skin I think. Your skin feels very clean after it has dried, but also hydrated and you can tell there is product on it. I think it does a really good job of drawing out dirt and impurities while staying hydrated. I have oily skin and it hasn’t made me extra oily or anything! It would be good to use after a long day of wearing heavy makeup.

I love masks and have a really soft spot for tissue masks - I'll often pick one up when I'm doing the food shop. It's an inexpensive treat.

I've never had a black tissue mask before - it looks like its made from seaweed - it isnt! It is absolutely soaked in serum, with lots of excess goodness to use on your neck, boobs, etc.

It was really easy to get on your face and very generous size. The eye, nose and mouth holes line up well.

I left it on for a whole episode of The Witcher, so about an hour. I then used a cotton pad to distribute the left of serum and leave my face ready for bed.

The next morning my skin was very clear and super soft. My blackheads were pretty much non-visible. It's a great mix this mask - hydrating AND it clears impurities.

Would recommend and will be picking another up with the shop!
