I'd always been a petroleum jelly user but it could never save my lips from the dry weather here in NZ. I've tried other brands but they never worked out - Burt's Bees gave me allergies, and most other brands I tried left a thick layer of balm on my lips that didn't feel too natural. I only tried the Hurraw! lip balm after it was recommended by my sister and I have to say it really worked like magic. The dry patches were gone the next day! I've been using it ever since to keep my lips hydrated and prevent any dry patches. This is particularly important as I wear liquid lippies most of the time.
I use the unscented lip balm in the morning and the blue chamomile vanilla moon balm in the evening. I've kept this regimen for half a year now and have had no problems whatsoever. The evening balm has a light vanilla smell which I really love as my nose is quite sensitive with strong scents. It absorbs really well in the lips - doesn't take more than a few minutes - so you're not left feeling really greasy at night or having troubles applying lipstick in the morning. This regimen works well even with my regular use of liquid lipsticks.
I'm so happy I discovered this product. I will definitely keep repurchasing!
All across the internet I have been witness to people gushing over how amazing this product is, from famous youtubers to women in our very own BR community. I made an executive decision that if I ever came across these balms I'd buy them - and I found some. I bought one off of shelivescrueltyfree.com and the other off of iHerb.
I think the thing that makes this product so great is the fact that it is all organic and vegan. But, in saying that, I think that's exactly why I don't like it. I am used to lip balms having things like beeswax and other animal products in it, and as this one doesn't, I find it weird and unsettling on my lips.
I have this balm in coconut and vanilla. Coconut was the one that arrived first, and when I opened it I got a massive smack in the face of coconut. They smell like the coconut macaroons that Griffins make! Delicious. I swiped it on my lips a few times - I don't like the texture. Yes, it's smooth, but I guess I was expecting something creamy. Instead it feels like I've put the balm through the wash and as I rub it on the water is coming out of the tube too. Not pleasant.
I haven't noticed anything fabulous with the staying power. I had a cup of tea and within 20 minutes I needed to reapply. Once it has worn off the lips, they feel even more dry than they were to start. I haven't noticed anything great about it being moisturizing either. The balm is very slippery and I find it gets in the back of my throat more than it stays on my lips.
Would I repurchase? No, probably not. I guess I just expected this to be so much more amazing than it actually is, and I'm a little disappointed.
