I have two of these: Vanilla Bean and Coconut. They haven’t turned out to be my favourite lip balms ever, but I do like them and definitely think they’re worth trying out.
The packaging is great. The tube is a slim oval shape, so doesn’t take up much space, and the labels are super cute. It’s really sturdy, and I feel fine chucking it in the depths of my handbag because I know it won’t get damaged, and the cap won’t accidentally pop off.
Both of the balms I own smell amazing. Vanilla Bean is slightly different to what I was expecting, and definitely not a super sugary-sweet vanilla (more natural), but I really like it. The Coconut is my favourite though; it’s a fresh, yummy smell that makes me hungry. The scents don’t transfer into taste, which is fine for me because I personally prefer unflavoured lip balms.
They have a really smooth, silky texture, which is quite different to any other lip balm I’ve used before. It almost reminds me of solid coconut oil because it melts as soon as it touches your lips and feels very lightweight and non-waxy. They give a subtle shine when applied, although they’re not really glossy. I do find that they wear off relatively quickly, and I have to reapply every couple of hours at least, which is more frequently than with my other lip balms.
When my lips are in good condition and I just want to chuck something on to keep them from drying out, these lip balms are great. I think they’re really handy to keep in my bag/pocket for on the go. However, because of the very slippy, light texture and fairly short wear time, I don’t find these particularly great for when my lips are super dry or chapped – they seem to sit on top rather than helping to heal/hydrate like my other more intensive lip balms.
I really like Hurraw lip balms. But if I could only choose one lip balm to use for the rest of my life, it wouldn’t be one of these. As an everyday on-the-go product to prevent dryness, they’re great, but as a product to help when intensive hydration is required, they don’t quite hit the mark.
I really like this lip balm. I bought the cherry one off Iherb at a really affordable price. I'd heard so much about them, so thought I'd better give it a shot. It's a really nice product. It had a nice, natural smelling cherry fragrance, and a really pretty tint. It's a dark, cherry red and gives me a subtle tint and gloss (due to the oils) without looking like I have anything on. I love teaming it with a bb cream for a no make-up look when i'm home with the BF. I didn't quite give this one 100%, as even though I like it, it is very oily, which means that my lips do not receive a lot of actual hydration. So when it's water they need, this tends to sit on top and not do a lot. if My lips are really flakey, this doesn't soften or really penetrate much, but when they're in good condition (which i do my best to keep them in), this keeps them soft and smooth. It is also really easy to apply, because the oil content means it liquifies very quickly when you touch your lips so there's no drag or that odd tacky feeling you get with very firm lip balms. I love that's it's cheap, that it's creulty fre, and that there are no nasties, my lips can be quite sensitive and I often react to lip balms, so it is a nice change being able to use a balm that still has colour and fragrance. I like.
Tips: If you want a subtle colour, the cherry is gorgeous, especially if you're one who often has issues with coloured or fragranced balms.
