La Roche Posay® Effaclar Micro-Peeling Purifying Gel Cleanser Reviews

I have been so impressed by this cleanser. I was a little worried that it would end up being really harsh as a lot of acne washes are. This in my opinion only exacerbates the problem as it dries out the skin causing it to break out more with an overproduction of oil. The first time I used this oil it noticed how gentle it was. There is little to no fragrance. I happily used it over my entire face. Initially, I was just going to use it around my jaw, forehead and neck, as these are my problem areas. However, the fact that is was so gentle I have not had it drying out my skin or making it feel tight. I still continue using my face creams. I have noticed that my cystic acne around my neck and jaw have really improved and my skin is starting to become smoother. I can't feel any breakouts or lumps coming up. I often need to have my hair down around my neck as I get quite unsightly acne that I just can't cover-up. This cleanser might be just the thing I have been looking for for a long time. The cleanser itself comes in a large tube. It is easy to dispense exactly the right amount. The gel is smooth and feels lovely on the skin. I would absolutely recommend anyone with problematic skin to give this product a go. It has definitely healed some of my persistent marks and also prevented reoccurring acne from doing just that! This cleanser will last me quite a long time as it is a very generous tube. I will definitely be looking into other products by La Roche Posay. I am very grateful to try this and review it.

I have previously used other products within the Effaclar line, so I was curious to try this. The term "Micro-Peeling" made me feel a little nervous but I was still curious to try it out. I usually break out during that "time of the month" not only on my face but occasionally on my back as well. I love how it gently exfoliates my skin so that it feels soft and smooth afterwards but doesn't feel like it's been stripped. I did notice a major difference in how much faster my acne cleared up, especially on my back, which is no doubt due to the Salicylic Acid. I would repurchase this as its the only product I have used which really helped with my back acne.

I’m definitely guilty of using harsh scrubs to exfoliate, but I have seen the error of my ways and was keen to try a solely chemical exfoliator.

You get a generous amount of product in this tube. It lathers slightly, but being a gel it doesn’t get super creamy.

I saw menthol as an ingredient, and was worried that it would give the ‘tingly’ sensation that peppermint extracts and oils often have. Fortunately it didn’t, and I couldn’t smell the menthol either.

I didn’t notice dramatic results immediately, but with continued use every 2nd day the bumpy skin on my legs and upper arms has started to clear slightly. I’m happy to keep using long term to improve these areas, as the product is gentle and so far hasn’t caused irritation on my body or face.

A good intro to chemical exfoliators, and will definitely help to gently clear acne. Love!

I absolutely love La Roche Posay products so was super stoked to get on this trial. It comes in a big blue 200ml squeezy tube with a flip top lid, I find the packaging appealing.

I have dry skin and get spots.  This came at a great time as I had a breakout on my chin and forehead and a really stubborn pimple between my eyebrows. This is targeted at oily, acne prone skin.

It is a clear gel consistency and you only need a small amount, you need to wet your face first to get it to lather up.  It has a subtle fresh scent, I get no stinging or irritation at all which is great as my skin can be sensitive.

I like to really concentrate on any areas that I have spots, it leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh and seriously clears up spots super quick! I also have milla on my forehead and this seemed to clear it up at least 90% woohoo.

The first week I started using it I got a bit of flaky, dry skin particularly around my nose, corners of my mouth and on my eyelids of all places lol. All I did was add hyaluronic acid back into my routine and it went away after a few days, I have not had that problem since.

The biggest change I have noticed is how incredibly smooth my skin is, my skin looks so healthy and I am loving going bare faced! I really love this product and the entire Effaclar range is so amazing.  I will definitely be repurchasing this. If you want beautiful clear and smooth skin then you need this in your routine.

I was very lucky to receive this product to review from BR. I am very lucky to have pretty good skin generally, sometimes I get a few hormonal spots but otherwise I have a pretty usual combination skin type. This cleanser was easy to use, the packaging was great and you could get exactly what you needed without wastage. The product felt nice on my skin and was a gel consistency, much what you would expect from a cleanser. The cleanser did a great job of exfoliating my skin with no friction and it absolutely glowed afterwards. I am looking forward to how good my skin looks after regular use with this product. Highly recommend.

My skin has started to have quite bad breakouts during the lockdown and beyond. Especially on my chest/neck area and this purifying gel wash has helped to clear up the breakouts. It has micro-exfoliating properties that unclog pores and cleanses the skin without feeling any abrasion or friction, instead leaving my skin feeling soft and well cleansed. I have used for about 7 days and my skin feels so much smoother and while it hasn’t cleared my serious breakout it has significantly calmed it to something if non concern.

The gel consistency formula has a nice light scent and it's lightly foaming and a little goes a long way. It is easy to see how much product is in the bottle as it’s a nice transparent bottle but has a nice green colour to make it more appealing to the eye.

This cleanser is light and refreshing to use and perfect for my oily skin. It comes in a generous sized tube, and you only need a small squeeze for your face, and maybe another squeeze for your chest and back, so it's really economical.

I was expecting it to be a bit tingly as it's called a Micro-Peeling cleanser but it doesn't tingle at all. But that doesn't mean this isn't a mighty good product - I've been using it twice a day for about 10 days (I think) and gosh the improvement in my blackheads and overall skin is incredible. My skin feels more balanced, and I've found I'm without oil for longer than usual.

This is the most effective cleanser I've used and will recommend to all - especially those with sensitive skin!

I suffer from oily and sensitive skin on my face, but my biggest concern is actually my chest and back. Yes. I have the bacne. And sure, it's winter, no one is seeing my back, but it's been a problem for me for summer's on end.

On my face, this cleanser is gentle and soothing - I would never have thought that a cleanser could right dry areas, as well as balance oily zones - and yet, this one does! It's so darn effective with zero ill effects. My skin hasn't felt dry or tight since I began use.

But the true revelation has been using this product on my back and chest - my spots and breakouts have literally cleared up within 7 days - its honestly so miraculous I want to cry! Or for it to be summer now so I can wear strappy tops and not worry about my ugly bacne being on show!

I will be raving about this product until the day I die!

I have to admit I was very surprised when this cleanser didn't irritate my sensitive skin (eczema) - I've had terrible luck with any foaming cleanser, even cetaphil caused my skin to flare up! This cleanser by LRP doesn't seem to have any fragrance which is great for me. I've been using it every evening for a couple of weeks after removing makeup with a micellar water and it leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean but NO tight and dry. In addition to sensitivity my skin is also prone to clogged pores and spots, so it's great to be able to use a foaming cleanser that doesn't irritate. Since it's only been a couple of weeks there's only been a minor improvement in my clogged pores etc but as time goes on I expect it to work its magic!

This is a lovely deep cleaning cleanser in a non-fragranced gel form. It is in a generous 200ml tube and only a little comes out when you squeeze it which means no wastage and at around $35 per tube it means the tube should last a long time if you are just using on your face. It lathers up really well when you apply it to your damp skin so a little really does go a long way. Apart from removing my eye makeup, I wanted to see if it would remove my foundation and it did very effectively. My face felt very smooth after using this and I do believe my face is looking lovely and clear. I love a good gel cleanser that lathers up so I will definitely be purchasing this in the future although I will only use on my face and not my body.... otherwise, I would use it up too quickly. I hope everyone else loves this product as much as I do x
