I heard amazing things about this product so naturally i went out and got myself a sample. I must admit i had high hopes which is never a good thing. I found that it was far too rough on my poor, sensitive, eczema prone skin and made it sting quite bad ( i think this might be from a fragrance in the product)

Reviews
Angels on bare skin has received great reviews in the beauty community so I bought it expecting greatness and it to be life changing and It did all the things it said it would, deeply cleansed my skin without leaving it dry or with residue.
The thing I didn't like and why I wouldn't buy it again is that its really messy! I didn't like sticking my fingers in the same pot, it seemed unhygenic to me, rubbing it together to emulsify was chunky and messy and washing my face with it and rinsing there would always be little bits of product in my sink that I didn't like.
Lush! I just love how it's not the usual liquid consistency and alot of people say it gets really messy but it doesn't if you do it right. Just grab a smallish ball and wet it with a small amount of water (not to much because it can get messy otherwise) and then apply to your wet face. I never used this by itself because it doesn't completely remove all your make-up so I used Ultrabland beforehand. After washing my skin would feel nice and smooth but my acne-prone oily skin was never any better. I've tried all the other Lush face washes and so that's why I tried this one from seeing some great reviews on their website (NZ website + other countries!) I wouldn't use this again and the only thing really that was nice was the smell and how it kinda turned milkyish on your skin. Also my skin was slightly more oily using this.
Tips: Don't use to much water!
I had quite high expectations of this cleanser as I've read so many rave reviews of it, and with a name like 'Angels on Bare Skin' you can't blame me!
First impressions? What a heavenly smell! This cleanser has a strong lavender aroma from the presence of lavender oil and crushed lavender flowers itself. Lucky for me, I love the scent of lavender but if you don't you may want to pass on this! Looks-wise it certainly isn't the prettiest product, gritty and grey with visible chunks of lavender running though it. It's very firm, the kaolin clay noticeable in it's hardness and the ground almonds giving it a course texture.
To use you take a pinch of this and warm it in your palm, working it into a smooth paste with a little bit of water. I found this quite time consuming as the cleanser is so solid. You then massage it into damp skin, a slightly messy endeavour so I try to use this in the shower.
The rough texture gives the skin a really good exfolliation and afterwards my skin feels soft and clean but not dry or tight like some cleansers or clay masks can do.
While this seems to work for most people, I personally wouldn't repurchase it. The cleanser does leave the skin feeling nice and didn't irritate mine but the harsh texture wasn't something I wanted to use daily and I found it quite time-consuming to use.
Tips: Use it in the shower as it can make a bit of mess!
After such a glowing review status and a cult following I was so happy to finally get into a store a pick up a tub of Lush Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser but after getting it home and using it I am finding it really hard to use the rest of it.
Coming in the classic Lush black pottle with the iconic white chalk writing upon it, this cleanser sits inside it like a ball of clay ready to be used. Following the instructions I took a small piece of the product out of the tub and rubbed between my fingers which was a little tricky as it was incredibly crumbly and full of gritty material and herbal matter. Finally making it ply-able I run it over my face and massaged in, the first thing that hit me was the smell so incredibly strong and reminded me of Fishermans Friend, it was very off putting to the point I was feeling myself gag to get it washed off. This was so strange as in the pot it smells a little herbal but nothing off putting.
Once washed off my skin was feeling very clean and there was no over drying or oiling of areas, at first. I wash my face after work at around 6pm and then put my skincare on just as I climb into bed to allow my skin time to relax and breath, in this time I had developed so much greasy oil in my t-zone that I had to re-wash my face, there is no other cause of this other than the lush cleanser.
So the fact that it makes me feel sick from the smell when using it and that it made me an oily mess in the matter of a mere few hours, I have found it really hard to even like this product, unable to give it any good points. This might be down to my skin type and my own preferences of fragrances so it may suit others, who love it, but for me I just can not even use it again.
I use this often at my friend's place as she has a tub of it. I've found that when I take it out of the pot its thick and needs some water to soften. It takes some work to soften into a nice consistency. When using I like that it smells of lavender but there are still clumps on my face which is irritating. I usually use this to remove makeup and it does do a decent job. When washing it off I find it's hard to remove and often I have to keep using water to make sure the soap is off. My face afterwards feels soft to touch which I like. Overall nice product but I prefer a cleanser that is liquid so I don't have to keep working to make it a nice consistency.
Tips: I've found using warm water when taking off helps and ot comes off a lot faster. I prefer washing my face with cold water because of health benefits but for this warm water needs to be used.
