BR member worldofsooziewong (aka the Lush Queen) recommended I try this when I was torn about You Snap the Whip - which I adore, but melts away. Time for a new hashtag - #listentosoozie
While I prefer the scent of You Snap the Whips, Buffy is otherwise better. The scent is very like that of the Brazened Honey facemask; quite a natural, honey-and-oats type scent.
I get the smaller size bar, which fits nicely into my palm. I can then scrub it over my skin easily.
This doesn't melt away anywhere near as badly as YSTW, which makes it much more pocket friendly. it's a bit 'scratchier' in that the scrubby particles are bigger, but i don't mind that. The bar is crammed full of soothing, hydrating oils, which leave skin really nice.
I got this to combat scaly dry winter legs, and it's perfect. I use this a couple times a week int he shower and my legs are smoother, more hydrated, and not tormenting me with late winter dry scratchy skin!
So, in short, if this smelled like You Snap the Whip it would be perfect, but it's near enough. Will definitely repurchase
I walked into Lush and told them I was too lazy to moisturise my body and so they handed me Buffy. You can imagine my surprise when they told me it will help smooth my back cheeks and reduce the appearance of cellulite. I stood there thinking to myself hmmmm I have no care in the world if my back cheeks are smooth or not until they jumped in with “but it can also be used as a body moisturiser in the shower”...ahhhhh I see.
I love this product and recommend it to those who are: 1.Lazy like myself to moisturise after bathing 2.Prone to dry skin 3.Wanting a great exfoliator and moisturiser in one
I loved it so much the first time round that in my next purchase I bought my besties a piece each because it’s just one of those small affordable luxuries you want to share with others. It comes in a solid bar but unfortunately for an amazing product it looks absolutely dull and boring. The exfoliator can be a bit rough for some people so best to ensure your body is completely wet before using Buffy. I run it all over my body (back cheeks too tiheeee) and it does an amazing job at exfoliating and moisturising. There is a light fragrance of shea butter mixed with almonds and I notice that the water just glides off my body. Once done in the shower I pat myself dry and jump into my PJs – all done. No need to moisturise – halleluia!!!
The issues I have with this product is that you need to be very careful when hopping out of your shower because your tub will be slippery and unfortunately you’ll probably need to clean the residue left behind. Another issue I have is the fragrance on my skin AFTER I’ve patted myself dry – it tends to smell like ‘fatty oils’ which doesn’t make me gag but I’m not overly happy about it. It’s not overwhelming so I use a perfume oil roll on ball (favourite is MOR in Snow Gardenia) to glide over my décolletage and my problem is solved. Last issue is that it can feel like an ‘oily’ residue on your skin but honestly it’s no different to putting coconut oil on as a body moisturiser you just need to give it time to soak in.
Buffy comes in 2 sizes and I buy either one depending on my budget at the time. How long it lasts me and the price point depends on how often I use it a week, how long I keep it under running water and how well I store it and all up it’s not too bad. The smaller size (90g) lasts me probably 2 months if used 2x a week and the bigger size (200g) lasts me just under 4 months. Another Lush must-have!
Tips: 1. Clean your body first then begin your Buffy routine 2. Ensure your body is completely wet before using Buffy 3. Pat yourself dry after your shower 4. If you don’t like the fragrance use a perfume oil or light spritz of your favourite night time fragrance
