I love Angels on Bare Skin so decided to try this. I was going through a really bad breakout and found out charcoal is amazing for your skin. When the paste was easy to make but the first thing that hit me when I put it on my face was the smell. Maybe they were going for a liquorice sort of scent but to me the first thing that came to mind is, "Oh my gosh it smells like gasoline!" as I scrubbed the black paste on my face I did detect a hint of mint but it the gasoline scent was still strongly there. The granules in the paste are definitely more coarse than Angels on Bare Skin. When my face was black and I rinsed it off only to find my skin was black marks on it and the charcoal was in every pore on my face. I took a gel cleanser and double cleansed my face and that cleaned the charcoal out of my pores. Looking at the ingredients it has Sodium lauroyl sarcosinate so unlike it's angelic counter part it isn't completely natural. The granules are also coarser so not something I would use daily, probably twice a week. It also leaves a mess over the sink. I'm a bit on the fence about whether I'm going to purchase this as I don't like the scent, it leaves my pores black unless I double cleanse, not completely natural compared to it's counterparts and it's not a daily cleanser. On the flip side it does get into your pores and so you know it does clean them out and while it wasn't something I recommend for every day it didn't leave my skin feeling dry either.

Lush Dark Angels Review
Lush Dark Angels Deep, dark, cleanser for young, dark and oily skin. A black, squidgy scrub with charcoal to absorb oils and exfoliate your skin. Nutritious avocado oil softens, glycerine keeps the moisture in and black sugar softly scrubs; rhassoul mud is anti-microbial and cleanses deeply, while sandalwood and rosewood essential oils are soothing, giving you a feeling of smooth, clean freshness that is difficult to beat. Just remember to wash it off properly and clean the wash basin after you.

Tips: Definitely get a sample before you buy the tub as the scent is really strong. I wouldn't recommend this to use when you're in a hurry as you will need to double cleanse as this will leave black marks on your face and make your pores look black not to mention make a mess over your sink. But this is a good cleanser for a deep cleanse at the end of the day.
This was my first cleanser from Lush. I like scrubby type products but decided to switch to Lush because I thought it would be much better for the environment. I enjoyed using Dark Angels. It made my skin feel clean and fresh/not oily and I also liked the smell. The major downside is that it is charcoal based and makes everything it touches black! I used Lush's Tea Tree Water to get rid of what was left after I washed it off (which made me feel extra clean and fresh).
Tips: Make sure to rinse your mouth afterwards otherwise you might have black bits in your teeth.
I have a full house of kisses
Recently I went into lush and left with this. The skin on my face can be a range of combinations from very sensitive to normal with oil. I get back heads on my chin and nose which really annoys me. I have used many products to try rid them.
I use this in the shower in the morning. You only need the smallest of amounts to cover your face. If I need a bit more exfoliation I put the product direct on my face, if i need a slightly softer cleanse I mix with water in my hand. After the first cleanse the gunk from my pores was almost all gone. I was shocked. Next cleanse it all went. I see this as little angles burying deep into my pores and using a brush to clean each pore out.
Even with combination skin it doesn't dry it out. I don't react to it. It polishes my skin beautifully. I have used many exfoliating cleansers and find them quite abrasive that they scratch my skin. This doesn't. When I wash off my skin feels fresh and clean. Not dry at all.
A tub of this is going to last a very long time. It will work out extremely cheap compared to alot of others I have trialed. This is going to be my must have item in the shower.
One of my fave cleaners for sure, have gone through about 4 of these so far and will keep on doing so. Leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh and works well with my skin. I love the texture of the cleanser as it exfoliates a little also. My sister has since purchased this after using mine also. It lasts a long time as a little goes a long way so it's good value for money. The only negative I can say is that it does make a mess because of the colour and texture so I use this in the shower rather than over a sink
Tips: -Use in shower for less mess -Check your chin and neck areas as can leave grey/back bits behind if your don't wipe that area properly
This is one of the best I've used! It leaves my nasty oily skin looking absolutely lovely, soft and glowy but doesn't leave it feeling like it has oil left on it like a couple cleansers I'm going through now do. I love the way it leaves my skin really clean but somewhat moisturised and it's a favourite now. I loved the effect on my skin so much I actually used it as an every day cleanser too and if you used an oil to remove your makeup, it will get rid of any residue that left too!
The only downside to this was that it got messy so, so quickly. This is actually the only reason why I'm so hesitant to buy another tub or I'd have done so by now.
Tips: If you use this over a sink, you'll need to clean it a LOT. It gets messy very fast!
I really like this product. The charcoal really helped to exfoliate my skin and after use left my skin feeling clean and cleansed. I've been using it as my main cleanser for a while and will continue to do so! Definitely worth it.
I've heard so many good things about this product, and wanted to really like it but found it too harsh on my skin. I found it was a little too drying and irritated my acne prone skin. Ive heard so many good reviews about its use in ance treatment and prevention. Sadly, i couldn't replicate the success. I found that you need to be really careful to make sure you wash it ALL off, otherwise you can be left with black/grey tinge to your skin, which is not an attractive look.
I actually really enjoyed this product. I found it too be a little abrasive on the skin so I only used it max twice a week. The fineness of the exfoliating particles feel really nice and cleansing on the skin. It is a little messy to rinse off though.
I really enjoyed using the Dark Angels cleanser as it was great as a facial cleanser and great for the body too!
i noticed i was getting little bumps / black heads on my decolletage and this was great to exfoliate with!
it really made my skin glow!
only down side would be that it can be a bit messy to start off with!
Previously I was using African black soap and it worked wonders for my oily acne proned skin; however, my kids always got into the soap and I didn't like the residue build up. Now that I have come across this amazing cleanser in a container that is made up of natural ingredients I can reap similar, yet better results than the black soap. At first I was skeptical of the gritty texture but a little goes a long way. I grab about a pea size and mix it with water and then apply and scrub gently to my skin every morning as I always wake up with oily skin. I then rinse and apply my Lush tea tree spray and an oil free moisturiser. The combination of using the tea tree spray and oil free moisturiser definitely compliments the benefits of dark angels cleanser. My skin feels clean and prepped for a smoother and cleaner application of makeup ;)
