I love the Dark Angels cleanser. The girl at Lush suggested this to me instead of Angels on Bare Skin because I tend to have oily/combination skin. I was so impressed! The smell is divine, and there is just enough roughness in the mix to leave a loving tingly feeling on the skin without leaving it raw or pink. I use this twice a week as an exfoliant, and have used it as a daily cleanser by making it into a liquid solution with some warm water in my palm before applying (instead of the paste-y feeling it has when you take some from the pottle). A little goes a long way with this stuff, and it really works to clear my skin up a couple of times a week!

Lush Dark Angels Review
Lush Dark Angels Deep, dark, cleanser for young, dark and oily skin. A black, squidgy scrub with charcoal to absorb oils and exfoliate your skin. Nutritious avocado oil softens, glycerine keeps the moisture in and black sugar softly scrubs; rhassoul mud is anti-microbial and cleanses deeply, while sandalwood and rosewood essential oils are soothing, giving you a feeling of smooth, clean freshness that is difficult to beat. Just remember to wash it off properly and clean the wash basin after you.

Exfoliating cleansers have been something I have become slightly obsessed with (With all the other things I need to check myself into BR Rehab) and when I heard Dark angels was awesome I had to try it! I had brought this before my April low spend had started so I had no excuse to break it.
It resembles crumbed oreo cookies that have been blended with butter, except it doesnt smell like that, it smells like sugary licorice.
I remove my makeup and wet my face slightly before scooping about a tablespoon of this onto my hands and rubbing it all over my face and neck. I realized after the first time of trying this that I am better off doing it in the shower because I make such a mess! It gives such an amazing deep clean to my skin and removes all the dead skin that is around my nose and chin.
When I rinse this off my face it feels instantly replenished, my small pores have shrunk back to their regular size and my skin feels so soft and it gives me this natural glow that I look forward to seeing every time I use this.
My skin loves this stuff and I will be buying more, I have been using this as a face/neck/shoulder exfoliant because I love it so much, it is true, once you go black you never go back!
Tips: I use this on my neck too because I also wear foundation down my neck it helps remove and replenish my skin there too
I have extremely oil skin, huge pores and just lifeless skin. I applied this for the first time on my face, wet my hand and then scrubbed it quite hard. After removing my skin just had life, it was glowing, smooth and felt so clean! My pores also shrunk in size. I know it says to use this 3 times a week or so, but I use it once a day due to how oily my skin gets and it does not dry it out at all!
To begin I should tell you my skin type: I am oily - dehydrated, slightly enlarged pores through cheeks, nose and forehead. I have some redness and old acne scarring (though not too bad). My skin's texture is very rough and dull.
I absolutely adore this product! I have been through 2 tubs of it and love how it works. You only need a small amount if you're exfoliating only your face but I actually like to use this on my upper arms and chest so I take a 20c coin sized piece and make it into a paste. I don't find this to be too harsh, you can kind of control how 'scrubby' you want it to be by adding more or less water. I will say that this is definitely a 1-2 times a week scrub only, as someone with thick, textured skin I can usually exfoliate every second day but with this I really didn't need to. I saw a huge improvement in my skin right from the get go, it was smoother, softer, clearer and I had less breakouts. My moisturiser also absorbed much more evenly/nicely afterwards. This really is a fantastic scrub and I highly recommend it to people with oily skin. Will I repurchase? At the moment no, only because I am giving chemical exfoliation a go as I've heard it's better but if I miss the delicious physical scrubby-ness of this then I definitely will repurchase!
Tips: Rinse really, really well! You may need a wash cloth or sponge to help get the product off as it's black and will leave residue/stain behind.
I had been using another expensive brand since New Years and it had made my skin absolutely DISGUSTING. I had been recommended Lush Dark Angels by a friend and I fell in love. It smells like aniseed and some sort of flowery scent, maybe lavender. It is so fresh and natural on my skin. I love how it's an exfoliator as i can scrub off the sweat and grime from a long day and go to bed feeling fresh and clean. It has really helped clear up my acne and it's good for oily skin. I get oily skin around my nose and chin area and it's helping control that. And the packaging is so cute! I really like how it is so small and compact and you don't need much space in the shower for it.
Tips: You only need a little bit of this product (pea size) and you can mix it with a little water to make a paste to glide it on easier.
For the past year I have been using Clinique products to cleanse my face, however a couple of weeks ago I placed a Lush order and decided to try something new and put this in my cart. No regrets! I love everything about it, the look, the smell, how it feels on my hands. Better yet, I love the way it makes my skin feel. The first week or so I broke out madly on my chin and almost chucked it in but kept going, and my skin has cleared up. I'm less oily than usual, and my nose appears to be loving it completely, my pores have really settled down believe it or not.
Packaging is cute and compact, and STACKABLE! A must for me considering my shower space is limited. A little goes a long way with the product, it is not as harsh as normal exfoliators which is why I am happy to use this every day.
This is totally not right for my skin type but I developed some hormonal breakouts on my chin and decided to purchase it for any oily/breakout areas. I love it... once I got over the very earthy smell. You only use the smallest of amounts and it goes a very long way. I love that it is black and grainy... it gives an exfoliation to the skin also. The cost is great and with the small amount that you are recommended to use, it will last such a good length of time. I usually use the pea sized amount that it suggests and then massage around my face but when I have extra 'hormonal' areas, then I left it as a mask on the spots. Its great and leaves the skin feeling so refreshed. This would be so great on young skin, going through those awful stages.... priced well, good amount, lasts ages and does what it says its going to do.
This product is the best product of all products in a lush store for oily to combination skin. For me, I have acne prone - sensitive - combination. and this stuff worked miracles for my skin! From day one, this stuff was easy to use and had a great consistency to it. It wasn't abrasive to the skin, more so gently exfoliating . It smells nice, like it looks like. Its strong so when you apply it, it feels like its doing something to your face, "its doing it's job." Thanks to this product my skin was brighter and glowing he acne scarring cleared right up halfway through using this product.
I was lucky to receive as a RAOK in an order I did from Lush, which was a lovely surprise and made me love Lush even more.. if that was possible.
This cleanser comes in the generic black container, which did a great job at keeping this cleanser fresh, and is easy to open and close, even with cleanser on one of your hands. Additionally, this free little product is one of the 5 tubs I need to get a free face mask (part of Lush’s recycling scheme), which is awesome.
When you open the product for the first time, it just looks like a pot full of blackness. The mask is black, and I mean black, and it topped with a few tiny black crystals looking piece (Who knows what they are). Okay so the mask itself, well honestly. It smells like dirt. It looks like dirt. Not convinced? Neither was i.
The consistency of this cleanser is hard to describe unless you know the lush products well. This Cleanser feels rich, and full of goodness as it leaves a slight greasy residue when touched. However the cleanser itself it quite crumbly although it holds it shape well. I would actually compare it to the short crust pastry my mum makes.
To use this, I break a small piece off, and put in the palm of my hand and mix it with a tiny bit of water to make a paste, and use my fingers to apply it to my face. I rub it on, and massage it all over my face like a normal cleanser. However after that, I let this product sit on my face for a few minutes before once again massaging my face and washing it off. The results. Wow.
My skin is left smooth, and feeling amazing. I usually use this cleaner at night time before bed, and the next day, my skin just looks amazing. It has a glowy look about it, and this cleanser evens out my skin tone, to the point where I could almost (yes almost) not wear BB cream or foundation.
Would I use this again? In a heartbeat. It never appealed to me before, so I am so glad I was given this to try! It has quickly become a favourite of mine! It’s easy to use, a little goes a long way, and it does an amazing job at cleaning and making my skin feel amazing without drying it out. I definitely recommend you try this product.
Tips: Pop into your nearest Lush and ask for a sample. A great way to try before you buy.
Dark angel's from lush was recommended on a beauty page with so many reviews on how great it was I went out and bought some. Had a chat with the girl at lush she also highly recommend it. I washed my makeup off and applied some dark angel , rubbed my T spot lightly it smelt good looked funny but I was excited. Unfortunately when I rinsed I felt tender and felt like my skin went very dry so I applied moisturizer. Next day I had spots and regretted used this product all over my face instead of testing a patch first. I haven't given up I plan on trying to rub a bit more lighter and do a test patch. Product was pricey for its size.
Tips: Patch test.
