I was given a large sample of Grease Lightning Spot Treatment as I was having some trouble with hormonal break outs. It's a very thick, yellow jelly type substance which smells really nice. You can definitely smell the tea tree in it which I really like but it may be a bit strong for some. It feels quite sticky to apply to the skin and it almost leaves a slight film. Because of this, I started only using it at night. Now, initially it cleared up spots really well but after about a week of every night use, it seemed to stop working. Whether it was because my skin started getting used to it I don't know. The jelly also became darker in colour which I didn't like as it seemed to me like it was 'going off' despite the expiry date being a year away. I wouldn't purchase this again purely as it stopped working and because of how sticky it was.

Lush Grease Lightning Spot Treatment Review
Lush Grease Lightning Spot Treatment Thyme for tea tree! Super effective, spot-zapping face gel with aloe and witch hazel. The thyme, tea tree and rosemary antibacterial infusion dries invisibly and you can feel the witch hazel shrinking mini-volcanoes. Go, Grease Lightning, you can now feel confident enough to rule the school. Or office.
Reviews
To begin I should tell you my skin type: I am oily - dehydrated, slightly enlarged pores through cheeks, nose and forehead. I have some redness and old acne scarring (though not too bad). My skin's texture is very rough and dull.
I purchased this on a whim last year because I was having issues with a few pesky pimples and wanted to try something new. This product is okay, I like the packaging, the fact that it has a pump is a huge bonus and gets a big thumbs up from me, it's sturdy which makes it great for travel and the bottle is recyclable! Woo! But onto the actual product.... It's a gel but on the more liquid-y end of the spectrum and a little goes a long way. It has a very fresh scent which is pleasant and disappears after a few minutes. How I would use this is by pumping one pump onto a finger and then dab a small amount of the product onto irritated pimples. The gel dries down to a shiny-ish finish and feels kind of tight but not uncomfortable. My gripe with this product is that it's not potent enough for me, I prefer to use tea tree oil to spot treat as it gets the job done fast, whereas with this it really needs to be applied at night as it creates a film that eventually peels away. It's definitely not a bad product though! I would highly recommend this to people with more sensitive and dry skin types as it's gentle and has a nice soothing/cooling effect.
Let me start off by saying that I am a HUGE fan of Lush, and it's very rare that I'm not super impressed with their products. Unfortunately though, I'm not over the moon about the Grease Lightning Spot Treatment.
I was recommended this product by a helpful sales assistant, who suggested it to me alongside the Herbalism cleanser, which is also supposed to be great for acne. It comes in the typical Lush packaging (which is recycled + recyclable, yay!), only in a small pump bottle instead of the regular pot. The product itself is a gel which smells LOVELY - a mix of herbs which has such a nice, natural fragrance. You apply it by dabbing it onto spots, ideally before they fully form, and it dries out the area without feeling too harsh on the skin.
I have two key problems with this product, however. Firstly, I find the pump slightly frustrating to operate - sometimes no product comes out, sometimes too much product comes out. Secondly, this didn't do a whole lot for clearing up my skin. I applied it 2-5 times per day, but still got plenty of acne, and found it didn't help to clear anything up faster than usual. I will use the bottle until it's finished, because it DOES feel soothing on sore skin, and DOES help to dry out the area a wee bit. But overall I wouldn't especially recommend it.
This product felt really nice and did dull the redness of my pimples, it didn't heal them completely and it didn't stop more appearing. There are lots of products from Lush that work better for my skin type, which is oily and acne prone.
This was kind of disappointing to be completely honest as I expected it to have fast, visible results (especially since Lush products are usually amazing!). The presence of natural ingredients is a great bonus however, in truth, there's not much point if the product itself doesn't work very well. It has a kind of jelly/gel consistency and I applied it to any red angry pimples I had. They may have faded a teensy bit faster than usual? But I wouldn't really justify purchasing this again.
I thought this product might be to good to be true but to my surprise it works!!! However you have to time it right I find. Once a pimple has popped up and has a head, there is no point using this product. I find however if I can feel a pimple under the skin, those ones that are super sore but haven't come through just yet. Those ones I can usually get rid of with this product! I just layer it on the pimple before bed and leave it. As much as I want to put it all over my face when its one of those bad skin weeks, I can't. It certainly dries out your skin so you wouldn't want to be doing that. I also don't go out wearing it as it dries and then flakes off. I'm unsure if I will get this product again as i'm terrible at catching the pimple in time but for anyone who is looking for products to try I would recommend this as it may work differently for others.
I wanted to try this after reading a few positive reviews. I did my research and found this didn't have any alcohol in it. Plus at around $17 for 45ml it was the most budget friendly option for a natural pimple treatment that I knew about. So I bought it and while it's not my favorite treatment it is one of the ones I really like. It does help clear spots a bit. It doesn't sting when it goes on and it dries much quicker than some other pimple treatment gels not to mention the natural ingredients and price for the amount. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap, natural pimple treatment. While there isn't an overnight improvement it does help breakouts go away faster. I plan to repurchase this when the bottle is finished.
Tips: Apply this straight after cleansing your face to the spot and let it dry before apply other products. I often just spread it over the areas with pimples, as it hasn't dried out my skin. I would recommend requesting a sample first to see how your skin reacts especially if you have sensitive skin.
I absolutely love the lush grease lightning spot treatment , it's not harsh on my skin which is a huge bonus considering in the past my skin can get really dry when i use spot treatments. It's also natural ingredients so your not using any harsh drying chemicals . I would recommend this to anyone who has acne or the odd blemish . It may be a little pricey but a little goes along way .
Tips: Instead of just using a little bit on each zit apply a thin layer to your hole face before you put on moisturiser or make up.
I used this product for years when I was getting a lot of breakouts. Although this product doesn't always work upon first application, it helped to dry up my pimples and heal them nicely when it was applied a few more times.
I normally use a little pump not too much larger than the blemish itself and let it dry on there. Application at night is better for me, as it does leave a thin dried layer of jelly, so I would wash it off in the morning. Take note to apply on clean, washed and dried skin, as the oils that lie already on the skin make the product hard to treat the blemish and work as intended.
The bottle lasts quite a while, months to years, depending on how often its used and how excessively. A bonus is that it smells nice and is not unpleasant or overpowering!
I actually did a lot of research on this product before purchasing it. As much as I do LOVE lush, I think that a lot of their skin care products are over hyped and don't actually work. Everyone suggested that you don't purchase it as it doesn't work but I thought I would try it any way.
It comes in a small signature lush bottle, with a pump and a cap on top. This is perfect for squeezing the product out and applying it where needed, however, the pump unfortunately always, without fail, pushes out way too much product, and I'm left wasting it.
The product itself is a super thick pale yellow, gel consistency that has a couple of spots of something inside, there aren't too many off them, and I can tell they are part of the product, but i've yet to figure out what they actually are.
I find the product much too thick, and this is probably one of the reasons that so much comes out of the pump. The tiniest amount is easily spread across a large surface, and thus this will last you a long time. However I find that, unlike other spot treatments I've used that dry and absorb into the skin, this one sits on top of the skin, refusing to sink in for 30 minutes. I find it sticky, and hard to work with, and if you have a big blemish, you have to be very careful and not touch anything until it has fully dried which takes ages.
The most upsetting thing about the whole product, is that it doesn't work. It has no effect whatsoever on the redness of my pimples, on reducing the size, or on helping soothe the soreness. My spots are still the same regardless of whether or not this has been used.
