This is a heavy duty hand cream. It comes in the standard black Lush tub -make sure you save your empties and take five back to Lush to exchange for a free face mask. It's is very thick and cream coloured. It has a fresh, herbal smell. I would describe it as a 'green' smell that you get with natural products. Some might not like the smell but I find it quite pleasant.
As the cream is so thick and obviously contains oils, you only need a very small amount for both hands. It does take a wee while to sink in. I find it is best used at night so your hands aren't slippery after using it and you wake up to beautifully soft hands. Even when my hands are sore and dry, this will sort them out overnight.
I am prone to eczema on my hands. Not only does this cream not aggravate it, I believe it also keeps it under control. One tub usually lasts me about six months of using it at night and topping up with other hand creams during the day. I just went to repurchase it and Lush is currently out of stock. I thought I would just make do with the 'daytime' hand creams in my stash. I have really noticed the difference in my hands, especially with the colder weather. Nothing else can sort them out like this stuff can. I can't wait until it's back in stock and will continue to repurchase.
I bought two pots of this in the Lush Boxing Day sales. This cream is more like a thick butter for your hands, at the time of this review it's the thickest hand cream that Lush offers. Nut butters - cashew butter, almond butter and even organic peanut butter feature in this herbal hand butter. Other natural ingredients include rose water, shea butter, glycerine, almond oil, fresh lemon juice, vanilla absolute, blue chamomile oil, evening primrose oil, pumpkinseed butter and oak moss extract. It smells herbal and slightly nutty to me. It has little dots in it that look like vanilla seeds from the vanilla pods. Because it's so thick you only need a tiny bit. One pot lasts me for ages. If you apply it all over your hands during the day it is does take a well to sink in but I find that this works best when just a tiny bit is applied to the back of my hands to seal in moisture. I have this sitting on my desk next to my computer for just that so I can remember to use it. I don't reach for it as often as the other tube of hand cream sitting next to it since the tube one absorbs faster and doesn't get my keyboard as greasy. But it is nice if you are after a natural hand butter. My hands need something more substantial before bed because my skin is prone to eczema but it would be a good nighttime hand cream for most people. I would consider repurchasing this, especially if it is half off in the Boxing Day Sales.
Tips: Don't go for this if you are allergic to cashews, almonds or peanuts. It is greasy and heavy as a hand cream during the day but it works really well using a bit on the back of my hands or I spread it all over my hands before I workout. It does last a really long time so even if you pay full price it's a good deal but if you can get it in the Boxing Day sales it's even better.
