Lush Happy Hippy Review

Hi my name is Bex and I love lush! Borderline addict, some would say I am... No seriously though I love lush, the quirky names, the great packaging and the amazing smelling products what's not to love? So I have a long list of favourites that I always purchase, but I'll always buy something I have never tried, because who knows there could be a new favourite out there!

With happy hippy I was expecting a burning Incense scent, full of a rainbow of colours. That didn't happen, but what did happen was a grapefruit scented, slightly cloudy looking shower gel.

This comes in the standard lush squeeze bottle clear, with a black label and lid (which can be recycled) it's nothing fancy but it does the job.

I squeeze a bit out onto the shower puff and rub it over my body. It lathers up quite a bit which I love, mind over matter but I feel cleaner if I can see loads of bubbles. The bathroom air fills with the citrusy grapefruit scent.

When I dry my skin it doesn't have that squeaky feel which i thought being grapefruit it would leave a bit of a "stripped" feeling. The only thing I can put this down for is the scent doesn't last long on your skin after you dry. But that is only minor and I will still repurchase it.

This is the shower gel version of Lush's soap Sexy Peel. And goodness does the word sexy describe it! For me grapefruit is so invigorating and refreshing that it makes you feel sexy all the way through!

The gel foams really well which means you don't need very much to get squeaky clean. I've taken to putting a small amount on a loofah towards the end of my shower (making sure that any hair washing etc gets done first) as to keep the smell as strong as possible when I jump out. Which means that this body wash can literally replace a perfume for at least a half day (if you're a citrus flavoured perfume person like me).

This was one of my very first Lush loves, and it still is to this day. I have a bottle in the shower right now for a morning pick me up.

As always with Lush shower gels, Happy Hippy comes in a range of sizes, all housed in the typical clear bottles with graphic white-on-black Lush labelling. The bottle allows you to see the product - in this case, a transparent golden yellow gel.

Happy Hippy is a really refreshing citrussy blend, with a sweet grapefruit scent. It's not as sharp as the Body Shop Pink Grapefruit (which I also adore) but is still super refreshing and a splash of citrus in the shower.

Being a clear gel as opposed to an opaque Lush cream, this doesn't lather to a creamy consistency, but still does lather, creating a cleansing foam that doesn't strip skin. My body is left scented, but without quite the same degree of creamy Lush aftermath - this isn't drying, but it's best used in conjunction with a lotion afterwards to add that creaminess back in.

This is also usable as a shampoo as well, and having that cloud of citrus float about you all day in your hair is seriously divine.

I was lucky to be given a small 150ml bottle for my birthday. It lasted 2 weeks. I showered using it daily!

It was the greatest thing to smell first thing in the mornings. A zesty citrus wake you up kind of fragrance....beautifully strong smelling in the grapefruit department.

The formulla is like most other shower gels. A gel that is not runny and has some thickness to it. a good .50c coin size in the shower sponge lathers the body in an incredible amount of lush foam bubbles. moisturising the body as you wash.

Not only feeling awake after everyuse, my body felt quite moisturised for a good period of the day.

This one, i will be buying for myself again :)

I am very impressed with this small but punchy body and hair wash. Grapefruit is not a usual scent for me but this product has me hooked. I appreciate the simple application, especially since it can be used on body and hair which adds a bit of life to shower time. I find this an easier to use substitute for Lush's Whoosh Shower Jelly

This shower gel was my first experience of Lush products and still one of my favourites. It smells fresh and fruit, sweet and joyful, the perfect wake up call for your morning shower. I also assume it's very popular as it's never seems to be in stock when I'm sporadically in store. Highly recommend!

Grapefruit is the top smell on this shower gel in the flip top Lush bottle. The liquid is a pale yellow tint that is still see through. This is a rush of grapefruit scent so if you are not a fan of grapefruit and citrus scents, leave it on the shelf or give it to someone that does. The smell hangs around for a little while on me but I suspect this would vary between people.

When I use it I feel squeaky clean afterwards, kind of like the old sunlight dishwashing liquid ads. While I feel clean it is not a drying feel. It foams really well on my loofah. It is normal runny thickness for a body wash.

The grapefruit scent is uplifting and while not my favourite mint scent, this still gets me moving in the morning as a nice alternative.

I love trying out different lush products, especially the shower gels so was excited to try this. I got this in the 250ml size. I really liked the smell of this product, you can really smell the grapefruit and it certainly wakes you up as the scent gets stronger in the shower. I find that the actual shower gel lathers up very well and you only need a small amount each time. It leaves your skin feeling smooth and moisturised.

I have a small 100g bottle of this shower gel. It looks the same as every other gel that lush makes. A clear squeeze bottle with a black label. This has a bb date but I've recently found out that lush gels last much longer than what is stated, so as long as you store them out of sunlight this will last a few years.

The color of mine is a light lime, because each batch is handmade, there can be slight color variations between each batch but there should still smell the same regardless. I've tried quite a few different lush shower gels now, some could call me obsessed but this is the thickest formula I've used so far. It comes out almost like a jelly. At first I thought it was just from a cold morning but it hasn't changed with slightly warmer weather. It lathers up well with a small amount, I use a shower puff.

I think the grapefruit scent is spot on, it's not artificial at all. It even has that slightly bitter/sour note that real grapefruits have. I do think this is a nice energizing scent for the morning. I'm not sure if i would repurchase, lush gels are expensive and i do have others i prefer much more. I'd totally recommend to anyone who loves this kind of scent though!
