This is one of Lush’s cleanser products, and this was recommended to me by a friend. I had low hopes for this, and was personally more interested in Lush’s range of masks, rather than there cleansers which to me, just did not interest me at all! However, my friend actually gave me a super generous sample of this cleanser to try so I really had no excuse not to. And spoiler alert, as soon as in finished the sample she gave me, I practically rushed into Lush to buy the full size version.
Like most of Lush’s products, this one also comes in the small black container, and has a really good seal on it, so im more than happy to leave this in the shower without fear water will seep in a ruin my $20 cleanser (and trust me, I would be less than impressed if that happened.
First impressions? Well when I open the container, I can see the colour of this scrub is a golden yellow, and I smell this slightly sweet oat scent, which reminds me of porridge, or a crumble of some sort. The texture is the same as all their other cleansers and it is a crumbly solid, which I would compare to an short crust pastry in texture. The texture however also has fine granules in there, which I think is the polenta which is ever so slightly abrasive.
The way I use this cleanser is a get a small amount (maybe the size of half a 10c coin, and I add a tiny bit of water to make a paste. Let me just mention that when I’m using this product the smell is amazing, better than it smells in the container because its actually going on your face and it smells so nice. I’m not great at describing scents but its got an oaty scent, with a toffee undertone, but its not sickly sweet at all, it just has this perfect mild sweetness. I apply this to my face (with my hands) in upward circular motions. Because of the fine polenta in this product, this cleanser can also be a really gentle scrub and exfoliator as well as cleansing my face so a dual purpose product. Sometimes if im using this in the shower (which is my preference because it can be slightly messy), I will let the cleanser sit of my face like a mask for a few minutes well I’m doing other things.
When I wash this cleanser off my face, my skin literally feels like butter. It is clean, but not squeaky clean, and it’s so soft and silky smooth. I normally use this as a night time cleanser, and the next day, my skin just looks amazing and radiant. But I don’t use this every day because of the exfoliating aspect of the cleanser, but use it perhaps 3 times a week instead. I haven’t used this on my body because I think it’s too expensive for a body cleanser, but by the feeling of it, I’m sure it would be a lovely gently cleanser for your skin if you could afford it use it this way. This (along with the Lush’s dark angel’s cleanser) have quickly become one of my top cleansers. I recommend this to everyone, because it seems as well as making awesome bath bombs and bubble bars, lush makes some amazing cleansers too.
Honestly, it feels like I've walked into a movie theatre but woken up in a bowl of porridge. Strange I know but I love it. Its the smell that sold me if you cant already tell - popcorn and cinnamon oats. As if you could have guessed - yes this is a great exfoliate. It promises to scrub and soften with its granting oats and maize flour yet stimulates with its cinnamon powder. Its not a daily cleanser as I don't want to exfoliate too often but for when my skin looks tired and cluttered from the days makeup and events I know a can rely on this little guy. The afterglow is amazing, my face feels silky soft and all make up is removed. I would happily purchased this again as a fave exfoliate, that is if Lush doesn't put out anything better. Side note; watch out for random appearing corn kennels … their in there somewhere!
