Life's a beach sounded like it needed to be bought for the name itself. It made me giggle quitely to myself so it went in to my cart. I love a good body scrub at the best of times and the fact that Lush make it made me want it even more. 400g is quite big for a scrub so it was worth the money hands down.
It comes in a generic black tub with a screw top lid to keep it fresh and ready to go. The scrub is yellowish and smells salty and citrusy. It is vry fresh and is an instant wake up call if you get a little too sniffy in the tub like I did.
I grab a small handful and spread it over my skin using circular motions trying to get the best out of the scrub. It lathers up perfectly but it actually feels like i am sandpapering my body with sand. It is far too abrasive and makes my skin raw and red, I don't know if I scrubbed too hard or if it was a combination of both the scrubbing and the graininess of the formula. The smell gets too much too fast and often burns my skin where I have scrubbed with it.
The one bonus is that my skin is uber soft and smooth but at the cost of losing a couple layers of skin then pouring lemon juice on the raw areas.....no thank you! I think I will stick to my coffee scrub.
I was gifted this from a beauty on here who didn't like this as it irritated her sensitive skin. I was surprised to see the tub was practically full - I was elated. I love scrubs so I was very pleased to try this, and used it the next day!
I was super surprised to smell it, it was so bloody potent! It's not unpleasant but I can't really put my finger on WHAT the smell actually is. I grab a small handful and begin rubbing, and I love the feeling! I am all about rough scrubs and this one ticks that box.
Because it is sand though, it gets everywhere sand does. Everywhere. And I really mean that. It gets places you haven't even put it, and suddenly you're 7 years old again trying to change in the backseat of a moving car, yet there is sand everywhere and your towel is full of sand too and all that does is move the sand around. You get exfoliated sure but at 7 years old it just hurts.
The scrub leaves my skin slightly slimy and a bit weird feeling to be honest, but then the feeling goes away if you use a body wash over top, which I do often. And if you have cuts, forget about using this. It stings like a mother shut yo mouth! I wouldn't purchase this myself, I don't think, but I feel lucky to have such a friend who would give me a full sized tub of it, as I know how expensive Lush can be.
