I got this baby in the mad xmas rush. I actually bought it for half price of the 500g so $17 ish. I didn't want to pay full price nor get a full size one but for $17 ish bux how could I let that pass me by. I liked the description it gave at the time of having a scent of vanilla sweetness mixed with black pepper. I was interested and excited to see what this combination would bring.
The green colour gave my bathroom a pop of colour other than purple and pink so it was a welcome change especially for my husband who is the most rugged man ever. It had an almost shimmery look to it and was very thick and creamy. All these things I love from the Lush shower gel range.
It comes in the same bottle as all the Lush shower gels. Simple, no frills but effective design keeping with their clean green image. When I took my first huff and filled my nostrils with its scent I was taken back and not in the best way. I couldn't smell the vanilla sweetness it spoke of and what I can only describe it as was spicy earthiness in a bottle. I knew it would have some sort of kick to it because of the black pepper but it was very overpowering. It was a man's fragrance not a women's. It wasn't aimed at a gender but still you would expect it to be unisex. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried it in the shower because quite often the smell you smell in the bottle takes on a whole new life on your skin.
I lathered up the gel which gave me bubble galore....love that! I still couldn't fall in love with it and I could almost say I hated it. My husband thought it was magical so I bought him another to feed his love of it. I ended up disliking the scent that much that I sold the new one. I couldn't stand the smell in my bathroom after a shower urgh, See what makes me raise my eyebrow a tad is I LOVE the bath bomb but the shower gel is a whole other story. Definitely for a male rather than a female unless you like spicy manly smells.
As always, Lush bring out a delightful selection for Halloween, and this was among the few new things. This also stuck around until Christmas and in the sales, so I assume it will be out again in their mid year Christmas online and in store.
I bought the Lush WOW gift box and this was inside, as I had looked at the ingredients and decided it wasn't for me. I still stick by that, but that's simply because it's not my scent range. This is quite earthy but not in a mushroom kind of way. You definitely get the hit of spicy, but it's also slightly floral and there is a slight hint of the delicious fair trade vanilla when you're in the shower.
The shower 'scream' is bright green, and that pigment carries all the way to washing it off, where your feet will be surrounded by a lovely green tinged water. I both like and dislike that - I like the color but I dislike how pigmented it is, but I am yet to see it stain anything. It also contains a slight lustre but I haven't seen it transfer onto my own skin, so I guess it's there just for looks. (And it looks nice!)
The difference between a cream and a gel is often one is slightly more potent than the other, as well as how well they lather. A cream is obviously creamier, and I find they are also runnier so depending on how you look at it, you need more or less product. I found this lathered alright with gloves and barely at all without them, but I always felt clean regardless of how I used this.
I thought the scent lasted a good while on the skin, and thankfully it wasn't nearly as overpowering as it is in the shower. I wouldn't purchase this again, simply for the fact that it's not my scent type and smelling it again has induced a headache!
