Lush Oatifix Fresh Face Mask Review

Soothing banana mask for dry skin

Few things are more soothing than a big bowl of banana porridge, all sweet and squishy. Did you know the same is true for your skin? Sensitive, dry or irritated faces love Oatifix for its calming oats, softening mashed banana and ground almonds to slough away flaky skin. Keep in mind that dry skin doesn’t just occur in the winter! The sun can be equally harsh, as UV rays penetrate the dermis and heat can leave you feeling tight and dry. Use Oatifix year-round on sensitive, dry skin in need of nourishment to keep it flexible and soft.

Smells AMAZING

I loathe bananas, and I have to admit that I'd avoided even smelling this one in the store because I thought it would smell of bananas. It was only recently that I decided to have a smell, because it sounded like it did exactly what I wanted - moisturise.

WOW was I surprised, it didn't smell at all of bananas... it smelled like HEAVEN. Seriously, this is one of the best smelling things I've even used as a cosmetic product (and actually smells better than pretty much most food!) I think it must be the vanilla?

But enough of how wonderful it smells, it actually works really well! It's cooling and soothing when you put it on, and it works well on any dry spots you might have on your face. It didn't get rid of any extremely dry spots, but it worked really well on the milder spots. My face felt amazing and soft after I washed it off.

I would totally recommend this, it's a wonderful product!

Smell like breakfast

I'm fairly inexperienced with face masks, but this one was recommended to me by the sales lady. It's very soothing when you apply it, and you instantly start smelling delicious.

It was pretty difficult to wash off - I ended up getting specks of oatmeal all over my hair and bathroom, and I resorted to wiping it off with a muslin cloth instead of rinsing.

However, once my skin was all washed off, I noticed straight away that my skin felt soft and refreshed, without any irritation that I usually find comes with chunkier products.

Tips: Do not use while hungry; you smell so good and it's so tempting to lick it off your fingers!

This is a product that you have to keep in your fridge.

Amazing but a wee bit messy

I was so glad I got this. If you are a sensitive skinned gal with dry skin, you will understand when I say that I needed a mask that not only didn't aggravate my sensitive skin but one that actually felt moisturising after using it. Well this is one of those masks that we need lovelies.

Okay, so its not the most gorgeous looking masks and it does take a bit of getting used to as it is quite a loose, sloppy type mask, so I recommend putting this on over a sink or a side space for easy clean up.

It is like applying porridge to your face but it isn't unpleasant, it glides on as well as it can for something that is of a porridge consistency but once you get the hang of it, it gets better. It smells pretty much just like porridge ha ha ha.

I could already see and feel the oily moisturising part of the mask and it felt quite nice.

The washing/removing part of this mask is probably the most annoying thing about it, if you can call it annoying, I just call it a small price to pay for using a great mask.

Once removed, it leaves your skin not only feeling clean and looking good, but nice and moisturising too.

Would I recommend it? Definitely!!!!

I've found my match!

I have oily, dehydrated skin - year round. This means that I often have an oily T-zone, but my skin is also lacking moisture and can appear dull. If I use oils or hydrating masks to hydrate my skin, it often creates small pimples or clogged skin. However, using products aimed at oily skin dehydrates it further.

I have finally found the perfect mask for my skin - it hydrates my skin without clogging it or breaking me out. When I use this mask, I wake up with glowing but not oily skin and this lasts for 2-3 days. This mask decreases the amount of oil that my skin produces by hydrating it.

The mask itself is nothing glamourous. Lush products are natural, and this one is particularly so. It is brown, reminds me of porridge and has lumps of oats and banana in it. Once smoothed over the skin, it gathers in clumps and if you were to venture around the house you would find chunks falling off on the carpet! It is a lovely feeling though, having a product so natural that is still effective. Rather than hydrating with chemicals, this is a beautiful alternative. It smells delicious and although it isn't luxurious, it is still nice to take a few minutes to put a mask on.

I will absolutely repurchase this mask and I'm not looking for an alternative. The only downside for me is having to stand over the bathroom sink hoping that it won't fall off, and that this mask should be kept in the fridge. The results certainly outweigh these negatives for me!

Tips: Keep this mask in the fridge and don't expect to move around getting the housework done whilst this is on your face.

Can't get over the scent but works great!

After getting this as a sample at a Lush store as I struggle with the annoyance of having both oily and dry skin, it is hard to find a product that treats the dry areas without making the oily areas overly saturated. Having heard the news that this face mask is great for such problem I knew I needed to try it.

Coming in a little black sample pot, which generously gave my entire face a complete thick layer coating. The first thing that hit me was the scent, even in it's fresh out of the fridge cold state the aroma of wet warm porridge oats or rice pudding that cooked milk smell which I really don't like so it made me a gag ever so slightly at first but as it set the smell faded away. As this is full of grainy oat fresh ingredients it is a little messy to apply so I'd advise applying over a sink or at least a bowl to catch the fall off which no matter how you pat gently will fall off it is just that type of product.

It never really set hard which is fine, adding a warm flannel to the mask softened it more so that I could massage as I washed it away to exfoliate the areas that needed the most. Once removed my skin felt soft, clean and looked bright. Over the next few days I noticed that those oily areas appeared to be less visible, pores tightened and the dry areas less dry! so the mask has some magic in it that covers all bases, removing excess oil without overly drying which is great! my skin felt and looked amazing. I would totally think about buying this if I could get over the scent.

Lush Oatifix Fresh Face Mask

I, like a lot of ladies I know am a lover of all things Lush, and this facemask is up there with my favourites. I received this for mothers day along with other lush goodies.

it is a fresh mask which means you need to keep it in the fridge which is fine. It is nice and cool when you apply it.

My skin has settled down as I have gotten older, {the only advantage so far!} so I was wondering how It would work for me.

The texture is a bit weird, a bit sloppy, mushy, porridge like. The scent is fresh and reminded me of winter mornings having porridge for breakfast, yummy!

I applied it and let it dry. It was kind of messy but I was hoping it would be worth it.

It really was worth it. After washing it off {in the shower} my face felt and looked awesome. My skin was so soft and felt nourished and looked really fresh.

I will buy this face mask again, the results are the best I have had from a mask.

Lets get messy!

One of the cool things about LUSH is that you can take it 5 empty and cleaned containers and trade it in for a face mask, which is what I did to get Oatifix, it took me 10-15 minutes to choose this product because I thought it would help benefit my skin the most.

With it being kept in the fridge, it gives my face a cooling sensation each time, and it smells unbelievable! As soon as you open the tub, the fragrance of oats and almonds hits the nose and makes the mask more appealing than it looks.

The thing I found the hardest was applying this to my face. Its too thick to use a brush which is what I normally use with face masks so I have to use my hands, pushing this product around without it falling is a task in itself but some of it does end up in the bathroom sink. Once you start scooping the mask out it slightly melts making it easier to apply.

Washing this off is a mixed emotion, it smells so good but after its washed off you're left with hydrated, moisturized and soft skin. The first time I tried this I couldn't stop touching my face after washing it off.

After I got over the fact that this was a messy face mask, I enjoyed it thoroughly, the smell and the soft skin was all worth it!

I will be repurchasing this again.

Tips: Stand over the sink so it catches all the oats that don't stick to your face.

ALL MY YES!!!!

My friend Sav and I usually go halves in a fresh face mask from Lush. We have enough pots between us that we can pick up one at a time. We are slowly making our way through all of the masks they make, and when she told me she hated this mask I was sad, and wasn't looking forward to trying it.

The mask looked a bit like oatmeal and had a strong smell of banana cake and nuts. Funnily enough, they're two of the main ingredients. I applied it to my face after using my AHAs and BHAs, and let it sit for a while. Accidentally I got some in my mouth, but it didn't taste gross or like chemicals, it was quite sweet.

I left it on for a good 30 minutes while I chilled out. Rinsing off, I noticed there was a slight oily film on my face, but it wasn't a bad oily? It was more of a hydrated, moist, nice oily. I put my skincare on my face and it took everything in my power not to keep touching my baby butt soft face. It was amazing.

I woke up the next day and my skin was glowing and soft and delightful. It was amazing. Maybe it's because our skin is different, but her oily skin vs my combination boarding on dry skin, but I loved it. It is just an amazing mask and I do think it's my favorite Lush mask!

Im bananas for this mask

My skin sometimes runs on the drier side at times. Those are the times that I reach for this mask. Its so hydrating and leaves your skin feeling so smooth and supple. This mask leaves your skin soft and glowing.

Doesn't do much, difficult to apply.

Thank God I got this for free as part of the "Return 5 empty pots" programme. If I knew it was going to be so bad, I would have gotten another mask instead.

First off, it smells nice, like an oatmeal cookie but it is very difficult to apply! You have to warm it up in your hands first if not it will fall off your face in clumps. Even then, it's impossible to get a thin, even layer. The clumps felt heavy and uncomfortable. I think they really should have ground the oats into finer pieces for a smoother consistency.

I left it on for 20 minutes. My face was softer after that but there was no decrease in redness. The softness disappeared quickly, which leads me to think this mask does nothing much.

Also, I don't like that it contains talc, presumably as a bulking agent. If I had bought it for full price, I would have been very unhappy as lots ended up on the floor and the pot lasts maybe 2 uses for little effect.

Tips: 1. You're better off mashing your own bananas and oats to make a mask. I've done it before and it works the same, if not better.
