ocean salt face and body scrub is my favorite body scrub that i have tried. I don't use it on my face but its great for cleansing and exfoliating the entire body. i love the scent, it smells a fresh sea breeze in the summer time. Very luscious. leaves my skin feeling clean but not tight afterward.

Lush Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub Review
Lush Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub Cleansing lime, coconut and sea salt scrub. Ocean Salt is like taking your face on a trip to the seaside for an invigorating splash in the water, then cleansing and refreshing it with lemon, grapefruit and lime juices. Fresh avocado moisturises and softens the skin, while violet leaf absolute calms and nurtures. Use it on oily skin every day and use it to refresh dry skin once a week.
Reviews
I really love lush, and was looking for a scrub that would really exfoliate my skin so I was put onto the Ocean Salt Scrub. I didn't think I had sensitive skin, but the first time I tried it on my face I went a little aggressive with massaging it on to my skin and it started to burn. I didn't have this trouble when applying it on to my body but Due to the large flakes of salt and high acidic fruit extracts within the scrub it was intially a shock to the skin. After using it for a while I did find it very effective on removing makeup and dried skin. I would definitely recommend it if you're really wanting an effective cleansing of the skin. It always left my skin feeling so smooth and refreshed afterwards.
Tips: When applying to the face, I'd suggest being a little more gentle as it is quite a coarse scrub.
I loved using Lush’s rub dub dub scrub so when I finally opened my eyes, and realised this one had been available all along, with the added benefit of brightening skin, well would I really be a lush addict if I didn’t buy it? Happy to say, I’m can still call myself a lush addict. This product smells amazing, its fresh, citrusy, and salty (it even taste salty… not like I was intending to eat it, but sometimes these things happen when you wash your face). I have to say although I love the smell, I do find it quite similar to the rub dub dub scrub, which isn’t a bad thing. The colour of this is grey-ish green which I know sounds so unappealing, but it really isn’t. It has a rough texture, which I think is because of the sea salt, so it was expected. I use this on dry skin to get a really good scrub, especially for an all over body scrub. However when I use this on my face, I do find it too harsh, so lightly dampen my face so the scrub is more gentle. In saying that, I prefer to use this as an all over body scrub, and use something different for my face. As an all over body scrub, I do like this product. I find it does get rid of dead skin, exfoliate aswell as the added bonus of not drying my skin out, which I thought it would due to the sea salt. Overall, a decent scrub but kinda pricy if its only being used for the body, and I have other scrubs that are cheaper, and do the same thing so for that reason I probably wouldn’t buy this again (unless I can get it on sale).
I was lucky enough to receive this as a gift from my thoughtful husband for my birthday earlier this year. I had never had the inkling to buy this mostly because of the price but also because it's mostly aimed at oily skin rather than my dry sensitive skin. I couldn't hurt his heart so had to give it a go to see if it would be the best friend for my skin that I have been searching for.
At $42.50 for a 250g tub it better be dam good! I have tried the Rub Rub Rub shower scrub from Lush and this is quite similar to that except for the chunky salt chunks you get. The colour is a light bluish colour with the salt through it. It smells of salt and citrus zing. It's a smell I love but it can get quite overpowering when used often.
I use this in the shower to make it less messy and to give my body and face an all over exfoliating. I grab a good handful in my hand and rub it all over my body in a circular motion, making sure that I am getting the full potential of the scrub. It actually hurts a bit for me. My skin is normally dry and sensitive but this was too abrasive for my liking. It left red scratch marks all over my skin. I didn't do it too hard but my skin was left raw and hurting. I do admit that my skin felt ultra smooth but I assume that is because I rubbed off too many layers of skin with this harsh scrub ouch! I dampened my face and used a smaller amount and used far gentler circular motions. It still hurt but not as much. I did find that my skin didn't feel much different on my face after use. I expect that you have to use harsh scrubbing to get the full effects in my opinion. That is something I am just not willing to do on my face.
I continued to use this on my body, not my face until the pot was gone. My skin did feel hydrated and smooth but still left it feeling raw and stingy afterward. This is a feeling I could live without and can get the same soft feeling from a less abrasive scrub. It felt like this lasted forever because the post just wouldn't end! I couldn't use it too much because the suggestion for dry skin is to use it once a week. It was the longest 4 months of my life! I have taken up using coffee scrub instead to get the exact same results but with my skin still intact. As much as I want to love it, it's just far too harsh for dry, sensitive skin!
Tips: Rub in circular motions GENTLY because it can be abrasive. I would actually advise those with dry skin not to use it. It says you can but it make my redness worse.
Scrub a dub dub! I received a 70g pot of this in the Christmas gift pack, i was excited because I love a good exfoliator, I have dry skin that sometimes gets a bit flakey. So a good exfoliation is always a must.
The idea of having sea salt in it had me in 2 minds firstly it could burn my skin and dry it out more or leave it looking amazing. I know whenever we have been near the sea and I have been swimming in the ocean my skin looks great afterwards.
The black tub is the perfect size for this scrub. With a wide opening easy to scoop out the right amount. The scrub is an awesome colour with it being a mix of white, green and blue. And it is PACKED with sea salt. The texture of it reminds me a lot of creamed butter and sugar. I can get a real citrusy lime scent coming from this scrub and it is so refreshing.
It is easy to apply and scrub a dub dub around your face. But remember to go easy on it as it is so packed with salt I could imagine if you went in guns blazing you could rip the first layer off your skin. I prefer to do this in the shower as the wee bits of salt go everywhere!
Once I wash it off all my worries disappear, my skin looks fresh and clean it didn’t burn or feel rubbed raw also the wee flakey bits of skin had managed to come off. All in all a great scrub for me and my dry skin and would happily repurchase
This scrub smells like the sea. It's really sweet to look at too! I was really hoping that I would love this after seeing all the great reviews but for someone with averagely sensitive skin, it was just far too harsh. The salt bits were not uniform on the edges which meant some bits were really sharp and abrasive. I LOVE lush's other scrubs but unfortunately, this one wasn't for me.
Tips: Use with a light hand! Get a tester and make sure that your skin can handle it before splurging and getting the whole pot!
Although I found this product made my skin feel smooth (for a short while) it was too abrasive for my skin and after about an hour of using it my face was red and raw and irritated. I found it really nice as a body scrub when applied lightly. I recommend it for a once every two weeks kind of thing and only very lightly!
Tips: Apply lightly and do not scrub too hard as it will just irritate your skin!
I love Lush so I had to try it, the packaging of the product is funky and handy to get all the product out of. However I was amazed at how chunky it was! A small amount doesn't spread far. The smell is odd and I was not a big fan of it but the salt scrub left my skin feeling soft and refreshed. I did not use it on my face as I felt it was a bit rough for that and would be harsh removing it from your face. It works well with a facecloth but to get the real exfoliating feeling its perfect with a exfoliating glove. Since trying the salt scrub I probably wouldn't purchase it again as the chunky texture and feel was harsh but it does work, I prefer something with smaller bits for a exfoliator
I received this in a gift box as a 70g sample. I used it exclusively on my face. It's a creamy, exfoliating scrub with the exfoliating part being salt. I hate to use scrubs with the little plastic balls. It has a very herby citrus scent, very fresh smelling. I have had some red veins removed from my face so I was very cautious to not scratch my skin too much with this as it was quite coarse for facial use. My skin felt really soft afterwards. I did not notice any stinging but I would assume salt in a wound may sting a little! It's a love hate really- my skin was so soft but I probably won't get this again as it is pricey and i worry about breaking capillaries on my face with the abrasiveness of it.
Tips: Definitely wet skin first for lubrication or it can be too abrasive.
I bought a small tub of this from the UK lush when I was already doing an order from there. I'd heard quite good things about this and so of course I wanted to give it a go.
This comes in a black tub like other lush products. This format is good as it is quite a thick product, I don't think a squeeze bottle would work out. This has a good long shelf life of over a year and it is self preserving, I'm assuming because of all the salt.
This has an interesting scent. It is very fresh citrus, mainly grapefruit. It smells just like a real grapefruit so with that sour kind of tang. I also feel like I can smell a bit of lemon mixed in there too. I didn't really like it to start with, but it has grown on me now.
I've been using this for about two months now. I have dry skin so I use as directed which is once a week. I use a small sort of finger scoop full. It feels quite coarse, like way coarser then you would think to use on your face. Because it's salt though, you rub it on and it quickly dissolves so I can't really go overboard on scrubbing. You can also use this on your body but I don't as it is expensive! My skin feels soft after using and I do notice my moisteriser goes on smoother too. I also don't experience any extra dryness either, which I was a little worried about with all the salt. I was thinking about increasing my usage to twice a week but I'm not sure if that would be overboard or not!
I've used maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of product in the two months I've used it so this small pot should last me at least 6 months. I feel like that is worth it and I could see myself using this again in the future.
