I got this loving what it promised. I have very dry sensitive skin so the fact that it promised to gently exfoliate and cleanse while making my skin appear brighter and keep it clear. Gimme, gimme, gimme please! I have made a face mask with oats in it so thought wow it's got to be good with that in it surely. I bought a small $8 lump of it and immediately took it home to try it out. First impressions was mmmm yum this smells amazing, just like caramel like it says.
Upon wetting it, and rubbing it all over my skin a milky substance spreads with it. It's like a milk bath. I find the oats actually clog up our plug hole in the shower and that the soap itself melts away if it's under hot water for too long. Once I rinsed off the excess my skin did feel like it had been polished smooth with out the rough scratchy feeling of a scrub.
This is all in the most part good stuff, however, a day later my skin felt drier than it had before I started using it. It started peeling and flaking. I didn't think much of it but after using this soap for two weeks my skin was in worse condition than it was starting on this journey. I found the polished look was just the feeling after using it but then it starts the process of drying and peeling after every wash. My skin needed urgent attention after this. I was prescribed fatty cream to apply daily to get the moisture back in to dry, cracking and bleeding skin! It's supposed to be for sensitive skin! I would think it would be better for those with oily sensitive skin rather than dry.
I go into Lush frequently and picked up and put down this product so many times. I love the smell of it, like freshly cooked baking its sweet and yummy. The scent is right up my ally! I was eager to try it out since it promised exfoliation as well as being a yummy body wash.
Initially I loved it! It had a good ratio of oats to soap and lathered well and left my shower smelling amazing. However, after the first couple of washes the oat to soap ratio was about 90:10. The oats scratched my skin and there was so much of the oats that there ended up being no lather - it was better repurposed as an exfoliation bar than a bar of soap. The oats were whole and also be prepared for the mess they leave in the shower! I thought I may have gotten a bad batch it was that bad but the staff at Lush a shored me it was mean't to be this way.
It ended up in the bin as I felt it was to harsh for my skin and wasn't working how it should. Its a shame as the product did sound amazing! Unfortunately I have found the first Lush product I do not like nor would I repurchase.
