I love the Lush range of soaps, I think their very ingeniously created with alot of thought. This porridge soap is one of the few that I dont like unfortuanitely, it is quite dull and lifeless too look at, when washing with it, it becomes quite harsh and sore whilst rubbing it on skin, can be quite irritating. Not a fan, i dont think i'd buy again

Lush Porridge Bar Review
Lush Porridge Bar Review
Scrubby soap for sensitive skin
Start your day right with a generous helping of Porridge soap. Ideal for sensitive skin; it’s irresistible to everyone else, even bears. A nutritious breakfast bar; we fill each one with oats to gently exfoliate and cleanse. As the oats mix with hot water, they create calming milk that soothes and softens your entire body. Organic orange juice is full of nutritious vitamin C, ideal for refreshing and brightening your skin, and keeping it clear. Oh, and did we mention the delicious caramel scent? All in all, this soap is just right.

When I finally opened this from a pack I bought at the New Year sale, it looked a bit sticky and yicky. But when I opened the pack? Pow!! What a divine scent!
The soap itself is an odd pale colour, and when it hits the water it becomes very grainy on the outside. It is sweet and creamy as it claims to be, and is easy to handle and use.
I find it a little exfoliating, without being harsh, and is quite invigorating on my skin. I certainly feel clean and soft after using it.
In spite of being creamy, it doesn’t dissolve very fast, so the bar was lasting well. However I got sick of all the detritus in the bath after using it, and I don’t like washing lumpy stuff down the drain, so I threw it away. And that was the deal-breaker for me - I don’t like bits floating around and sticking to the bath after I’ve let the water out.
To be honest I think I’d rather just stick to Miranda soap.
This was another item I received in a Christmas gift box, I have seen the porridge bar several times on the website but it never appealed to me since it had the word 'porridge' in it. I'm no goldilocks, I'm not a huge fan of porridge let alone putting it on my body. So this sat around at the back of the lush stash for ages, unused, unloved, lonely. Until I decided It maybe wasn't so bad and I might actually like it.
So off I go to the shower armed with my porridge bar. It's a creamy looking bar with loads of seeds through it, I start scrubbing my bod with this bar and holy moly those wee seeds that act like an exfoliant are BRILLIANT!! I have really dry and horribly itchy skin on my lower back and top of my thighs so bad I will itch them till I bleed-literally. (Probably health related) Usually water aggravates those itchy patches but with the porridge bar It instantly calms the itching and I can enjoy the rest of the shower itch free! Yes it is a tad messy with all the oat bits in it falling out on the bottom of the shower but so worth it.
Afterwards my skin feels soft and slightly nourished and definitely itch free.
I feel so bad for the porridge bar being so unloved for such a long time as it really is the best thing I have bought in a long time. I have repurchased this and will do until probably forever even if I use other products I always start with this bar.
I purchased this soap last year in the boxing day sale online. I recommend not keeping soaps for this long or maybe transferring them out of the plastic. Mine had kind of leaked in the plastic bag and was a bit messy. It hadn't gone mouldy or anything though so I just rinsed off the top layer and it was good to go!
This soap is a kind of beige colour with lots of oaty and seedy looking bits in it. I think it looks really appealing but in reality the bits are kind of annoying. I understand they are there for exfoliating but I don't really think they do the best job and I just am using this for handsoap anyway so exfoliating doesn't bother me!
This does smell really good. It doesn't remind me of porridge at all. It smells sort of creamy and sweet, not like a milk cream though if that makes any sense. It's not an overpowering scent at all, more just chilled and subtle.
I find this lathers up well and doesn't seem to dry out my hands. I do enjoy using this and have purchased it a previous time before. After using a lot of other lush soaps, it isn't my fave and I do prefer others over it but I could maybe see myself buying this one again in the future. I'd recommend giving this a sniff instore, I think the scent would appeal to most people. It just depends on whether 'bits' annoy you or not!
2 kisses to would I use again 1 kiss to did it do as said 1 kiss to would I recommend
On a trip to lush I was chatting to a sales lady. My skin was dry and a bit itchy. She suggested using this and she got great feedback about it.
I found it wasn't any good for exfoliating. I didn't like how the oat pieces fall. I do enjoy the fragrance. It's a sweet delicious smell. As for gentle it is. My skin didn't react to this yet it didn't help with the dry itchy feel either.
This product is meant to be good for sensitive skin but when I used it it made my skin red and rash. The soap has big oat bits in it which does exfoliate the skin. The soap doesn't last for too long because it lathers up quite a bit. The smell is amazing which would probably be the only reason I would buy it again
This product wasn't great for sensitive skin, so I had to be careful how I used it. I didn't really find it exfoliated my skin, but it definitely tickled when I tried to use it on my feet. The scent was ok but nothing amazing. The bits made cleaning the shower a pain. It was fine but I definitely wouldn't buy again.
I recently did a lush haul and this was part of it. I got a nice big bar, I think it was 100 grams and so far, I've had 5 showers with it and it's well over half gone. Economical it is not. I even store it outside the shower when not in use.
It is extremely gentle on my skin, so thumbs up for that, but the mess it leaves in my shower is ridic. I have to give the shower a shower once I've finished! The oat bits do feel very nice on my skin while I'm using it but I honestly can't be bothered with something so messy that I have to clean up after myself once I've used it. Def not on the repurchasing list - Sorry Lush
I got this soap in a Christmas gift pack from Lush. This soap does what it says it will in terms of exfoliating and making you clean. My skin is quite sensitive at times and this was nice and gentle on my skin. This soap smells good, I really liked the scent. The only downside of this was the bits in it. There were so many freaking bits in this soap. The bits did a really good job of exfoliating my skin but oh my gosh I and then the shower floor were covered in them. I used the whole bar of soap up but to be honest I wouldn't repurchase this because the bits drove me insane.
This soap smells great (as most Lush products do). Though instead of the super sweet candy scent they so a lot of this soap is sweet yet creamy, in scent, texture and colour. It lathers well and the oats really do do well for exfoliating, however I found myself going through the bar quite fast. It was also quite messy with all of the pieces falling off me, was a bit worried for my temperamental shower drain (but turned out fine). So all in all this isn't my favourite Lush product by far but it is nice. Would say it's good for people who don't mind spending that little extra and going through a product fast, and who enjoy feeling super soft.
