I saw the reviews on BR and really wanted one of these so finally bought one at Chemist warehouse as they have them for $39 which was the best price I was able to find. I am not a hairy person however there are always those areas than you want to reduce any hairs. My legs are unusual as I only get the odd hair however I started in this area and was so impressed. Not only did the few pesky hairs disappear but my skin was exfoliated too and my legs feel amazing. I also did my bikini line which was a breeze and then my upper lip. my upper lip is not a real problem as again only a few unnoticeable hairs but I am still conscious of them and often use creams to get that smooth feeling. I did rub a little hard at one point so have learnt my lesson .Overall I am really impressed.

Tips: Be gentle as it is better to leave a few hairs and redo in a couple of days so you don't leave your skin sore.
I finally got around to buying one after seeing reviews online. I was absolutely sceptical that it would work at all. It's winter and I haven't shaved my legs for at least two weeks so I had plenty of growth. I was pleasantly surprised with the result. My legs felt super smooth afterwards. The crystal hair remover exfoliates at the same time as removing the hair, I get the impression it is lightly sanding the hair off rather than "removing" it in the traditional sense. I didn't experience any irritation, but my legs are fairly hardy and I didn't try anywhere else yet.
Tips: Don't press too hard. Gently smooth circular motion for the best results
I was excited to see this in the Beauty Vault so quickly snapped it up. Being winter my legs are rather well covered and not looking their best . I was heading out the door one morning and realised my crop jeans weren’t covering enough of the old winter growth. Perfect time to try this product. It literally took me 5 minutes to do both my lower legs and I didn’t have to get undressed. While it didn’t get every hair it definitely exfoliated and left my legs feeling very smooth. I didn’t moisturise afterwards which I’ve learnt you really have to do when using this tool as it can leave your skin feeling quite dry and tight. I’ve tried using this on my legs instead of shaving every few days but definitely find it works better on longer hair rather than stubble. It is comfortable to hold and use and I have recommended it to others. My teenage daughter tried it and has very sensitive skin and unfortunately it irritated her legs so I probably wouldn’t advise using this product if you’re extremely dry or sensitive. Otherwise I think it’s a great product and will complement my normal hair removal routine nicely.
Tips: Make sure to moisturise afterwards to avoid irritation
The remover is a nice size to hold and use, even for someone like me with small hands. Curved shape allows you to hold and manoeuvre around the body. I was surprised at how well this worked, It doesn't hurt when using and would be a handy way to remove hair if in a hurry. I could see a light white colour where I had used the remover and could feel the skin was getting smooth. Was a good way to also buff away dry skin. I wiped the remover as I went along. Needed to take a bit more care when doing the ankle and knee area as it is rough. I noticed my skin was very tender after using the first time. I am not sure if it was because of the first time using this type of hair removal. It is easy to rinse clean afterwards.
Going in to this review, I must admit I was very skeptical. But low and behold, the Manicare Crystal Hair Remover absolutely did what it was supposed to do. It removed my hair with very little effort! Unfortunately my skin must be just too sensitive as my legs were ON FIRE within around 30mins and i had to soothe them with a cold flannel. But if you're skin is generally pretty tolerant then I would definitely recommend giving one of these a try. Im disappointed that my skin reacted the way it did, but I will give it a try again in future and see if I have more success.
Tips: Just rub lightly in circles, not too much pressure. If you have sensitive skin I would defnitely recommend doing a patch test first and not going the whole hog like i did! Haha
I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical when this turned up and I took a good look at it, I thought there was no way it would work on my leg hairs after 16+ years of shaving.
My legs only had a few days of growth when this arrived but thought it give it a go anyway - I washed them in the shower then thoroughly dried them before using the tool in circular motions - it actually worked and left my legs feeling super smooth.
I also thought I'd try it on my arms - which I dont usually use any form of hair removal on so the hair is very fine - unfortunately although it worked, it left my skin feeling grazed and a bit sore so I probably would stick to using this on my legs only.
This would be great for those who aren't sensitive when you need a dry form of hair removal and dont have time to shower etc beforehand.
One improvement I would suggest is some sort of case for storage - the packaging it comes in isnt suitable to be kept long term and the crystal side of the tool could easy scratch some items/surfaces
This is an interesting concept and one which I was intrigued by when I first heard about it. I often have dry legs with the odd inflamed follicle after shaving my legs so the exfoliating nature of this hair remover was really good. The object itself fits nice into your hand although after awhile I did have a bit of a cramp. The crystal pad tends me of a crystal nail file and as you rub it on your legs in the circular motion described it is clearly sloughing off any dead skin. My legs felt so smooth! I found it quite tricky to remove all the hair especially in areas like behind the knees and around the ankles. After using you are left with a white dust (skin I guess) all over and the box says to rinse legs after use. I couldn't be bothered with that but gave them a rub down with my towel. My legs felt beautifully smooth but this would be no good in the summer after tanning as it would remove the layer of tan. The next day I could feel some hair again so it's definitely something you would need to use really regularly. I think using this the night of a tan would be ideal as you'd get a smooth surface without the open pores of shaving.
Tips: Practice makes perfect. This is worth persevering with I think.
Stoked to have been selected for this trial. Have seen similar products on the market but got my chance to try it.
Received the Lilac purple shade. It looks cute. Followed the instructions on the box and attempted to use. I had not hair removed my arms so there was a lot to work with. It didn't pull on my arm hairs per se but did feel a bit like buffing it into non existence. I still have some hair in patches it's not completely smooth like I would have expected. Felt more like an exfoliating product than a hair remover.
As weird as this sounds, I like it for knuckle and toe hair removal. Easy and effective on these areas. I did try on my leg as it was normal regrowth from shaving. Appeared to perform better on shorter hairs.
Compared to my normal form of hair removal for my arms (depilatory cream) this didn't make the cut. It would be faster and less effort to use my other method than using the crystal hair remover.
Tips: May be better for just regrowth or smaller areas.
I have been using a combo of shaving and laser hair removal so was excited to see the Manicare Crystal hair remover as another potentional option as I find shaving in between treatments annoying.
I used the Manicare Crystal Hair Remover as per the directions on the packet - used on dry skin after having a shower and used twice in then space of a week. The packaging advises not to use on delicate areas of the body so is not recommended for underarms or to maintain the Braz. The claim is 'uses premium ultra-fine Crystal technology to help buff away body hair and dead skin cells'
The item comes in a cute Lilac colour and is perfectly shaped to fit directly in one hand. It is comfortable to hold and use. To remove the hair you move the crystal hair remover in circular motions in the area you are wanting to treat. I found it difficult to know the right amount of pressure to apply in order to remove the unwanted hair and as a result have ended up with skin irritation. The packaging advised of light pressure however I found myself almost scrubbing as some of the hair seemed stubborn and wouldn't remove.
I found this to only work on flat areas so would be great for legs, arms and back if you wish to treat those areas. The length of time before the hair grew back was the same as shaving (for me 1- 2 days). However the area felt much smoother for a little longer than shaving does.
Product maintenance is easy- a quick rinse after use to wash away the hair on the product.
Overall I am not sure that this will be used regularly in my household. It almost needed to have a curved tip so that it could be used all over the body and not just on flat areas. It was difficult trying to use product around ankles and knee areas.
I was so excited to try the Manicare Crystal Hair Remover as physical limitations have made shaving difficult at times. I’m very impressed with the results from the hair remover, I’ve not had any other hair removal products do better. The tool is so easy to use, and extremely convenient in multiple ways. The exfoliatory effect while removing hair is a lovely bonus, my skin feels soft and smooth afterwards. I found myself having to guess the pressure to use at first, but by the third use I had a good handle on the dos and don’ts.
