Messy, but does leave your skin super soft

I have eczema, so I'm always on the lookout for good products. The packaging is gorgeous, very minimal modern monochrome font. It's an Australian brand, but made in China, and claims to be all organic which is a huge plug.

This was a really nice scrub for soothing my skin, and also smells like a divine coffee. How it works is you get your skin wet in the shower, then rub the scrub all over, leaving in for a few minutes before rinsing off.

However, I found it was really messy. It's coarser than most other coffee scrubs and doesn't wash off so easily, so if you're not prepared for this you might spill a lot on the shower floor, or if you haven't rinsed thoroughly you will get it in your towels. If you're looking for a free coffee-scented tan though, this will leave a hint of tint on your skin that you would need very vigorous washing to remove. Generally I use scrubs in a quick shower, but I think with this scrub I would recommend taking your time.

The coffee and coconut oil combination clearly work though, because they definitely leave my skin very soft and not as itchy. If you're okay with spending a bit of time and effort, this works really really well.

Tips: Pour the powder into a jar to make it more manageable to control how fast you're pouring the stuff out as the packaging can be a little difficult to work with in the shower.

Wake up with Mr bean!

I got the Mr bean coffee scrub in the Christmas 15 beauty vault. I was quite excited to try this scrub because obviously it has coffee in it, I am a huge coffee lover! I had recently used up the Victoria secret body scrub (this is the only other scrub I have used).

The scrub is housed in a zip seal bag. I felt this was a real let down. It made a already messy scrub messier.

Application was quite difficult because the scrub is messy to apply and you end up with more scrub on the shower floor. I found the best way is to hop in the shower, get wet and then scrub up while the shower is off.

Even though application is messy I really enjoy using this scrub .The coffee smell wakes me up. The texture is a little course but I feel this just means it's working. It's definitely not harsh on the skin.

I use it twice a week and have noticed my skin feels so soft after each use and my moisturiser goes on easier too. It definitely does a good job as a body scrub.

One other problem I had with this scrub is that it leaves brown marks on your skin, prehaps I am using too much!

Overall I love how soft this makes my skin feel so I would definitely purchase it again.

Tips: If you don't like the smell of coffee, this scrub isn't for you.

good scrub if you dont mind the mess

I bought this during the last beauty vault sale. the scrub itself is really good - it does exfoliate and scrub off dead skin - leaving your skin feeling really smooth - without drying your skin out since its got coconut oil as a hydrating/moisturising agent. I dont know if it reduces the appearance of stretch marks or age spots - I only use it once every forthnight or weekly if i remember. It does also have a nice coffee smell which is invigorating to the senses. what i dont like about the product is the packaging itself - a small tub with a lid that shuts properly would have been better - perhaps with a dispenser as well? as it is abit of a mission trying to get the product out of the pack. Also using the product is a messy business - alot of it ends up on the floor of my shower box then on me! and i find they stain the shower box every where it lands - and if you're like me and you try and rub them off with your feet - dont bother! you'll create an even bigger mess... just wait til when you would normally clean your bathroom - get down on all four and clean your shower box with the proper cleaning agents.

Smooth skin but there's a catch

I've got such mixed feelings about this product. First of all the packaging and size of this scrub is great, you can seal the bag and keep it in the shower which makes things easy. You get a decent amount of scrub for your $$. The texture is wet and gritty and it's great fun to apply. I scrub it all over my whole body and try to leave for 5-10 mins to get the maximum benefit from the caffeine in the coffee beans. It sounds like a long time to be standing naked in the shower but if you spend the time scrubbing rough/dry areas like elbows and knees, it really pays off. I feel absolutely amazing after I rinse the scrub off. I am completely moisturised, smooth as a baby and feel like I'm glowing. I feel like this scrub does wonders for my skin. The only problem I have is the cacao. It doesn't come off when I rinse the scrub off. It gets stuck to my skin with the coconut oil and leaves a dirty layer on my skin. And then I get big brown patches all over me which looks worse than a patchy fake tan. And it's really hard to get the cacao off. Even after washing and scrubbing my face, I still had a brown cotton pad when I toned. It honestly looks like you've been rolling in mud and haven't had time to shower. I'd really love this scrub if it didn't leave me looking grubby. It makes my skin feel absolutely amazing. It's almost worth looking dirty just for the smooth skin.

Tips: Use it at night so most of the cacao has rubbed off before you have to go out in public

Mr Bean Coconut Body Scrub

This product was ok you have to really wet it when you apply it to your skin because it is really dry out of the packet. It was a nice feeling after washing it off but it does make a mess,I used it in the shower I had to use the shower hose to really clean the shower the product made my bathroom smell though like coffee.

Tips: wet the product in the bag instead of pulling it out of the bag dry it was easier that way to apply to the body.

Coffee Lover Hype

At a first glance, the smart packaging and pleasant aroma of roasted coffee beans seems like a great combination, and it is, to some extent.

The coffee scrub was somewhat rewarding; it left my skin smooth and moisturised, not exposed like some scrubs that remove too much of your skin's essential oils, but not an extraordinary experience. I'm sure if i was a coffee addict it would have had more of a hype.

The scrub was hard to spread around due to it being a bit clumpy, resulting in a 25% loss to the floor. In fact the mess it makes is the main downfall of this product - the scrub leaves coffee grinds everywhere that take some time to dissolve. There is also the inconvenience of the advised 5 minute waiting period after the scrub is applied, which meant avoiding the water and not being able to wash anything for that time. Also, after slight confusion over how I'd managed to get more tanned, I realised the coffee had left a coating on my skin. It required the scrubbing of another shower gel on my skin to completely wash the coffee remains off. This is unfortunate because showers tend to need to be taken quickly, before getting ready to go out, and often one can't really afford to allow for adding time to the process.

Overall, the scrub definitely worked to some extent, but at what expense? The question is more about whether 1) you have time to spare and 2) you're willing to clean your skin, and wash the shower floor, rather thoroughly afterwards. I'm slightly on the fence about whether I believe the above average effort required is worth the above average results.

Tips: When using the scrub, only grab it in small portions at a time. Only a bit spreads at a time, so don't risk losing half of what you take out of the bag to the floor.

Make sure you have spare time to kill before using the scrub, as it takes a lot of time and care to use.

Not for me

This stuff smells amazing! If you don't like the smell of coffee then this is definitely not for you. I find this makes such a mess! I found that it was ideal to do this in the shower however I did have to clean the shower afterwards and I'm not how good it is for the coffee beans to be going down the drain.

I placed this all over my body exfoliating my skin and left if for approximately 5-10 mins. I then rinsed it off. I found while my skin felt lovely and moisturised I was covered in a coffee bean residue which was not the look I was going for. I then scrubbed the residue off with a loofer with no other product on it. After doing this my skin did not feel great in fact it felt like it did before I used the coffee bean scrub. I've only used a couple of time but each time have not enjoyed it. If someone can give me any tips it would be greatly appreciated!

I received this in I believe my Lust Have It Womens Beauty subscription. While the packaging looks bold and to me stands out its not ideal to put in the shower. I have put it in a empty lush container so that I can easily access it in the shower, but honestly I never gravitate to it. I will however continue to try and use it.

Coconut and Mandarin

I'd heard so many good things about Mr Bean Body Scrubs that when I finally got my hands on a sachet, I couldn't wait to try it out.

Unfortunately, Mr Bean Body Scrub didn't live up to expectations for me. Don't get me wrong, they smell amazing and exfoliate well! If you're not a fan of the smell of coffee, then avoid this scrub! Even though Coconut has a slight coconut scent, the coffee smell is overwhelming. Mandarin smelled a lot more like citrusy coffee, but still coffee.

I just wasn't a fan of the very course, dry texture of the scrub and found that it made a huge mess in the shower every time I used it. Most of the scrub ended up on the shower floor, with only a little stuck to me and it ended up "staining" the white shower a browish colour with the oily residue, so that had to be scrubbed with bathroom cleaner and a scourer directly afterwards!

I'm used to using a wet, almost sticky, sugar scrub and this coffee scrub was the total opposite of that. I used it according to the instructions and wet my skin before applying. I then left it on while washing my face and rinsed the scrub off before washing my body with a shower puff and body wash. I found that if I used the scrub after washing, I was left with a 'dirty' looking tan from the coffee scrub and the oily residue would rub off all over my towel.

The resealable bag that the scrub comes in is quite useless and becomes difficult to open when you're in the shower and your hands are wet and getting a handful of the loose mixture out the bag at a time can be quite messy. I chose to empty the bag into an old sugar scrub tub and found that easier to control, as I could just unscrew the top and grab a handful when I wanted to use it.

The scrub did leave my skin feeling smooth and exfoliated and it definitely did improve the appearance of my skin tone (if only temporarily), although I'm not too sure what kind of effect the coffee grounds are going to have on the drain (if they'll eventually end up causing a blockage with long-term use).

I did try to use this scrub in the bath (like I do with sugar scrubs) and it was a total disaster! I ended up sitting in something that resembled coffee soup with coffee grounds floating around everywhere and an oily residue that just lingered in the water and coated my skin. Getting out the bath was another story. Oily coffee residue and coffee grounds just stuck to me, everywhere! If you don't have a shower, don't buy this stuff! I had to jump in the shower after my bath and wash myself a second time just to get rid of the coffee grounds and oily residue. Not fun.

This could be a really great product if two things were improved; if the resealable sachet was swapped for a screw top tub and the formula made to be a little more wet (or sticky) so that its easier to use, spread and massage.

Tips: Climb in the shower and wet your body, turn the water down until it's almost off but leave a little trickle of water. Grab a handful of the scrub and dampen it slightly with a little water before rubbing the damp scrub all over the areas you wish to exfoliate. Wetting the scrub will reduce the amount that lands on the floor and will make it easier to spread and massage in a circular motion. Use a loofah or shower puff and body wash or soap after exfoliating to remove the oily residue.

Coffee Beans

Well I was excited to have been chosen for this product as I'm having issues with dry skin. And yes my skin did feel better afterwards. Unfortunately this was at the expense of time and effort!

This was anything but an easy product to use. The mess and chaos it caused in the bathroom was unreal haha - I'm still finding coffee grinds now! The shower was stained brown as was my skin!! Looked like a bad fake tan! Only took a coulemof scrubs to get me back but time!

The bag looked great. Love the design and lettering layout. It's modern and bright and gives you lots of good info without being too wordy. However once you're wet and trying to negotiate the opening and closing haha we'll have a go!

The fun they promised. well it may have been fun if I wasn't cleaning up so hard.

Tips: Have a huge shower and A sexy man on standby to clean it afterwards.

DO NOT USE IF YOURE ON AN ECO TANK OR SEPTIC - coffee grinds cannot go down into them (something I forgot oooopps)

Fake tan...if you're into that sort of thing.

Sooo I usually smell like coffee on the daily (barista) so wasn't too phased with smelling like it after the shower. The overall texture of the scrub it really nice but boy oh boy does it make a mess of the shower/bathtub. I was really optimistic about using the scrub and did what I normally do and wash with soap (LUSH soap) and then follow with a body scrub (if it's that time of the week) After waiting while it dried (as instructed) I rinsed the scrub off only to find my body covered in what looked like a REALLY bad fake tan. Which I figured was from the oil in the coffee beans. That left me feeling a bit meh. Safe to say I had to re-wash myself...twice and might I add scrub with the loofah to get the residue off my skin. quite annoyed really.

Tips: make sure you have a loofah and good soap/body wash around.
