Runt of the Litter.

I have thoroughly enjoyed using the Neutrogena Hydro Boost range, however I must admit that this was my least favourite of the four products. I will continue to use it, but I would not repurchase it.

The packaging for this product is almost identical to the night concentrate, which makes for a pretty display in my bathroom but isn't particularly practical. This is a sturdy, eye catching aqua jar that is heavy and easy to open and close. The scent is also very similar to the night concentrate, fresh but almost soap smelling. The formula is a gel, which makes it fast absorbing but still very hydrating. This is perfect for underneath my drying foundation, as I don't need to wait long before applying my makeup but my skin is left bright, plump and hydrated throughout the day in an air conditioned building. The product smoothes easily over the skin and a little bit goes a long way.

However, this product is almost identical to the second 'water gel' in the range, which contains SPF. The packaging and SPF are truly the only differences that I can distinguish. There is no harm in using SPF during the day, so why wouldn't I? It is for this reason that I won't repurchase this product - I just don't see where it fits into my routine.

Tips: Store this with your makeup, and the night concentrate in your bathroom, so that you don't confuse the two.

Not so great for dry/sensitive skin

Upon getting this product the first thing I noticed was that it looked and felt like a high end product - something you would get in a department store rather than the supermarket. The packaging is cute and the product smelled nice and fresh. The product looked like a typical cream but felt like a lightweight non sticky gel. There is definitely a lot of quality put into this product.

I have used the moisturiser for about 5 days and I noticed consistently that my skin would feel dry within perhaps 20 minutes of using the product. The second any make up went on during the trial period you could really see the dryness of my skin compared to how it would normally look. I really wanted to love this product because the first impression is so fantastic but it just wasn't suited to my skin type and didn't really do anything for me.

Tips: A few occasions I left it alone to see if the product would later hydrate my skin (on the packaging it says it will double your skins moisture level within an hour) but it actually left my skin quite tight and felt like I hadn't actually used any moisturiser at all. I tried reapplying also, but this didn't help unfortunately.

I feel like this product could work out on somebody with an oilier skin type but if you have skin that needs more moisture I wouldn't purchase this.

soft and refreshing

I was quite excited about getting this product as i havent used Neutrogena products before.

The jar is very nice and easy to open. Its is a nice product to apply, it feels very soft, light and refreshing on the skin.

I didnt notice any great change in my skin, if anything the skin around my nose dryer than normal.

Tips: Only need to use a small amount

More like a sip of water than a glass...

I had just run out of moisturiser when this little promise of ultimate hydration landed on my door step (literally!) I was immediately impressed by the packaging, clean simple yet hinting at the luxurious oasis of moisture inside. Unfortunately that's where the ooh's and the ahh's stopped. The first thing that struck me was the strong fragrance. While I'm not opposed to my moisturiser having a nice smell, I found this to be slightly over powering at first. Smelling more like a cleaning product than a beauty item. The second thing I notiiced was that while the light gel like texture felt nice to touch, it left my skin (oily combination) feeling very dry and in need of hydration. I experimented with using different cleansers before applying , and did notice there was a slight difference between using a make up wipe to remove make up etc or my usual oil based cleanser. On a positive note I did find that my skin remained more matt in appearance throughout the day ( very important when you suffer from the dreaded shine factor!) So all in all, an ok result. I will definitely keep using the pot I have but am not sure id be rushing out to buy a replacement.

Tips: I found it delivered more hydration if I used in conjunction with an oil based cleanser first. I definitely wouldn't recommend for a normal to dry skin.

Nice texture

I love the texture of this gel cream but I’m not convinced. Thought it would be the solution for my combo oily skin in summer but while it doesn’t make it feel greasy or oily it also doesn’t feel like it’s doing much moisturising especially on the dryer areas like cheeks. Not that impressed with this range.

Tips: Wait til it’s onsale at supermarket if you want to try it

Didn't impress me

I was expecting super hydration when I bought this but was pretty disappointed. It didn't deliver and it didn't do anything special. My skin was no more moisterized than if I used any old moisterizer. But, if texture is important to you and you want a gel product that feels light weight and sinks in well then I think you'd like this. I imagine it would be good for oily skin types. With my combination skin that can get fairly dry I wanted something more moisturizing and thick. I do like the refreshing feeling of it though when you first apply it and liked to keep it in the fridge so it was cool too.

Gel review

I have been using this product for one week.

To be honest I haven't seen any huge difference in terms of my skin.

The formula is a light almost watery consistency which spreads well over the face.

The smell isn't too overpowering.

It feels nice on the face and does make your skin feel more soft and supple. I didn't feel like this lastep very long though and I haven't seen any longer term benefits over the course of this week.

I don't think i would buy it again, maybe if it was on sale.

Tips: You only need to use a small amount as it spreads out a long way

Great product but not for me

Overall, I found that the 'Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel' a great product but probably not one for me.

Firstly I found the packaging attractive and simple. The promise of 24 hour hydration unrealistic. The smell subtle, pleasant and 'fresh'. It went on my skin beautifully and really felt amazing on, unlike any moisturising product I have used before (it actually felt like one of the high quality primers I use).

However despite how nice the product looked and felt to used I didn't feel like it did much for my skin, perhaps it's not for my skin type. I feel like this would be a brilliant product for a teenager or young adult as it's light on their skin and it only focuses on hydration, which I think would be perfect. In regards to the claim of 24 hour hydration, it fell very short. I put it to the test on this promise and felt the it worked well for up to 8 hours but then started to fade and defiantly not the 24 it claims.

I may use it again, but I would recommend that it's a good product for the right person.

Tips: It can be used as a primer for light looks. I trialled it as a primer a few time and found it worked best powered, it went very very badly with my BB cream however, perhaps they're two conflicting products and greater some kind of 'relaction', as it started to flake and clump and my whole look had to be reapplied.

Super Boost!

I was so happy to receive this in my BR Beauty Box and immediately started using it. I wasn't initially sure how to use it as it doesn't really say if it's a straight up moisturiser or a serum or a mask. Thankfully BR Nat gave me some tips on how she used it, so I've now used it as a serum, mask and moisturiser.

I adore the look of this product, the glass jar makes it look and feel super expensive. The gel is cool to the touch and quite slippery. The scent reminds me of soap, which I'm not a huge fan of. But did it double my skin's hydration in one hour? Well, I'm not sure.

Initially I found I had to use a lot of this product on my skin (a grape sized amount) as my skin just soaked it up (my skin is quite dry). If I used a less amount my skin felt dry still. However since using it my t-zone has become oilier and I've had more breakouts (this is the only new product I've added to my regime). So I do wonder if I've been using too much, and if a little amount is all you need as it does in fact double skin's hydration - even if you can't feel it at the initial moment of application? This will take further investigation, however I've ceased using this until my skin clears a bit more. If/when I start using it again I will re-review.

Hydro Boost

This product was okay. I didn't notice a huge difference with my skin. It's a gel-like texture which aslo took a little getting used to. Theirs also not much product in the tub.
