Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash

Wow, I've never used a product which did more for my breakouts. I'm one of those people who aren't very good at preventing breakouts, but once I get them I'll use anything I can to rid myself of them. As with a lot of products, I use this as a spot/area treatment as my skin has sensitive areas. I spread this product over my breakouts, and leave it on for a while. The reason I use it like this is because salycylic acid works best with time. I then lather up, spread it around my face just a little, and rinse. It eats up any oil or other pimple nasties, and dries up pimples in no time leaving no scars. This really is the best thing for my breakout control, inflammed tender pimples become dry and empty ones, and thus are gone sooner.

With the promising television advertisements for this brand we see today, I tend to shake my head and raise my eyebrows. I was still in high school when I bought this product and boy was I excited! Ohhhhh to have a flawless complexion - little did I know that those with sensitive skin shouldn't use the product.

I have oily sensitive skin so naturally I saw "oil-free" and didn't think of much else when purchasing. It comes in simple sturdy packaging with a pump dispenser which is great just don't press it right to the bottom because you'll dispense more than you need. It's a semi-runny gel-like consistency that doesn't lather up too much. There is a light fresh soapy fragrance which is gentle on the nose.

I wet my face and then apply a small amount of product and massage it well. Once done, I rinse it off thoroughly with cold water and pat it dry. It left my skin feeling clean and renewed. When I used this product I skipped toning because I just felt that there was slight stinging so I just went in with moisturiser.

I used this twice a day initially but soon changed it to every second day when I noticed that my skin was not reacting too well to it. By day 7 the small breakouts became worse so I gave my skin a break for 2 days and started back up again. Unfortunately I started to develop dry painful patches (yes on my oily face!) and since I saw no improvement I discontinued using the product entirely.

I used this once a day because twice a day dried my skin to much. Growing up I never had any problems with dryness until I used this product. It dried the skin around my nose so had its scared now. I would never recommend this

I purchased this a while ago in a moment of desperation when I was having really bad breakouts. I got it from Countdown for about $15 and used it once daily in the shower for about one week before giving up on it. I felt like it did a really good job of cleaning my skin but it was just way too harsh for my dryish and 'sometimes a bit sensitive' skin. It left my face extremely dry, a bit red and feeling quite sore. I suppose it did dry out my pimples a bit, but overall my skin was left in a much worse condition.

I used to use this years ago. It did a great job at clearing my acne fast, but it was very drying.Maybe for someone with normal skin. I'm combination/oily so it dried out my face. If you have oily skin this could be bad too because you're stripping the oils off your face so your face will probably produce more oil to compensate.

This product dried out my skin no end. I skin felt awfully tight and dry after using this. I did like how it foamed when it came out, but when something foams i always feel like its giving me a good clean. For the price, i can get many other skin care items that just work better for my skin.

I have tried this product a few times. About a pea sized amount of foam on the hand. Rub into your skin and only leave on your skin for a short amount of time.

As I have sensitive skin I found this product to be very drying and burn into my skin leaving it irritated.

It does leave my skin feeling nice BUT I think it does more harm to my skin then good.

For the price I feel like I would be able to find a similar object for the same price with better results.

I didn't understand why the rating for this product was so bad until I read the reviews. I think a lot of people didn't really understand how to use the product.

This particular acne wash has 2% salicylic acid. It's meant to dry out your skin as a way to clean out pores and dry out acne (don't ask how I don't know the full science behind it) It works if you use it properly AND when you tone and moisturize after every use it's the most effective. It also lasts you a really long time. I've had mine for about 3 months and i'm still not halfway finished. I use it twice a day.

I tried this thinking it would make have that nice clear fresh skin like on the adds. However I was largely disappointed as it completely dried out my skin until it burned, after 1 was. I felt my skin stinging, and I don't have very sensitive skin. It felt like there was some really harsh chemical's in this and it didn't do anything about my acne either. Do not buy.

I have a combination skin and was battling some breakouts. I found this wash way too drying on my skin. Around my nose the skin was flaking. I ended up throwing it away.
