Tips: Use a cotton bud around your eyelash lines.
This product comes in a clear 125ml bottle with a white screw off lid. The opening is a small hole which means you won't accidentally pour too much out at once. The product itself is comprised of 2 liquids, blue and clear oils that you need to shake together before use. I was very impressed with the way this product worked. It was very gentle and didn't leave my eyes irritated. Most if not all of my waterproof mascara was easily removed and I didn't have panda eyes the next day. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who has waterproof and full coverage foundation as it got most of this off too.
Tips: Use cotton round pads instead of cotton balls to remove makeup
I picked this up on special for $8 at Countdown but it normally retails for $13. I’m not a huge fan of the Nivea skincare range because of the greasy residue left behind on my already oily skin but since this product has an oil/water ratio I was prepared for a greasy film which would hopefully help dissolve my eye makeup.
It comes in a lightweight plastic bottle with a screw top which I must say I really find annoying. Is it too much to ask to get a flip top on these things!? I shake and try to squeeze a small amount of product onto a cotton pad. The only problem with squeezing the bottle is you tend to get more than you really need however I find shaking it or “pouring” it out with little pressure is utterly useless, I may as well watch paint dry.
This product does a decent job at removing my eyemakeup and what I really like is that surprisingly there is zero greasy film left behind. It easily wipes away eyeshadow but I do find that it requires a bit of rubbing to remove my mascara and eyeliner. I have to press and rub regardless of how long I hold the cotton pad over my eye or how much product I use. Even after 2 cotton pads I still have eye makeup left. Would this stop me from repurchasing it? Not really, it just wouldn't be at the top of my list.
Normally I use an oil or balm cleanser that eliminates the need for the extra step of removing just my eye makeup but when I recently finished my tub of balm remover and reached for another to find I had run out of backups I had to grab a quick remover from the local stores, which only carries about 4 options so I picked this two toned wonder up to give a whirl.
It looks pretty snazzy in its clean plastic bottle that allows you to see the separation of blue liquid and clear liquid, you need to give it a good shake before you squeeze out enough to cover a cotton pad, but it quickly goes back to living separately in the bottle after you put it back on the counter. Once a cotton pad is soaked I gently press on the eye area, holding it for 5 seconds before lightly rubbing across. Removing about 80% of the makeup in that one swipe, by the 2nd pad it is all gone except for the faintest under eye smudges from mascara and liner which it picks up on the 3rd and final pad. So 3 cotton pads soaked per eye...seems excessive? and this isn't with the use of waterproof makeup.
I found it pretty tricky to remove waterproof mascara using this remover, it did remove it from my lashes by the 2nd pad but it just transferred it in a smudge under the eye, which took a few extra attempts to completely remover, and still the next morning there was the ever so slight hint of a black smudge, that I don't normally get when I use my normal method of makeup removal.
It is reasonably prices, easily accessible at local supermarkets and doesn't aggravate my skin or eyes so it does a good job, especially for those on a more restricted budget. For me though it just creates another step in my makeup removal that I try to avoid and it took a lot of effort to remove the waterproof makeup. Great for a in-between fix but not a permanent switch for me.
I haven't been wearing mascara lately because I don't have the time to remove my eye makeup and I hate having to rub my eyes to make sure I get all the mascara off. Usually I just use eyeshadow in my makeup routine.
With the Nivea double effect, all I do is moisten a cotton pad and leave on for a minute or two and wipe down and again up then grab a cotton swab and clean around my eyelid and waterline to further remove my mascara if needed to.
I've been looking for eye makeup remover for a couple of months now. This does not sting your eyes depending on how moist the cotton pad is.
I would repurchase depending on price, I brought it at the warehouse.
I decided to get this from New World as they were offering a free facial brush with the purchase of two Nivea products. I am not a fan of Nivea in anyway shape or form, so you can imagine my surprise when I discovered how lovely this was to use! I had previously been using the purple Garnier one, and I like this one a whole lot better!
The bottle is a decent size, as this is only for your eyes so it is lasting me a long time. I really like the clear and blue liquid, it reminds me of those boats in the little globes with the water and you mix them yet they don't quite mix. This however, mixes very well. Although, it doesn't stay mixed for a long enough time, in my opinion.
I hold the cotton pad over the hole of the bottle and tip, swirling the bottle around to cover most of the cotton pad. I then place it on my eye and hold it for a few seconds before pulling the pad down my eye lashes slowly. I do this several times, turning the pad over to get more product. I don't think this gets all of the eye makeup, especially not eyeliner on the lower lash line.
This doesn't sting that much, not compared to what I was using before. And by sting, I mean me accidentally getting some of it in my eye. Once I wash my face most of my eye makeup is removed bar the stubborn eyeliner I cant reach without making my eyes burn. I'd definitely consider buying this one again.
Who goes away over Christmas without taking their makeup remover? Me that's who! Nearly EVERY TIME!! It's either mascara or makeup remover. I could be forgiven for the fact that I do have 4 little humans that need packed for as well but honestly I need a checklist! Anyway.. so I figured I had none so off to the supermarket I went and this was the only eye makeup remover there (teeny tiny supermarket-surprised they had any to be honest)
The plastic bottle is sturdy with a twist top lid, there is a small hole at the top so you can gently squeeze a small amount out onto a cotton pad.
I love being able to see the two oils, one is clear and the other is blue. It reminds me of the lava lamps we had as teenagers but you need to shake this quite vigorously to mix the two oils.
I squeeze out a generous sized amount and hold it against my eyes for a few seconds then see if If it's going to sting- I have sensitive eyes. And nothing, phew! I gently wipe away mascara, eyeshadow and eyeliner. I do it a second time and hold the pad for 10-20 seconds against my eyes and wipe the rest away, most of the product has melted off, I also do it a third time just to be sure.
This has no scent and doesn't leave any residue which was surprising as I normally notice a greasy film over my eyes when I use makeup remover.
I also used this to clean my beauty blender as I had run out of my usual cleaner and it worked a treat I would happily repurchase this it's cheap, easily available and does the job.
