Normally I use an oil or balm cleanser that eliminates the need for the extra step of removing just my eye makeup but when I recently finished my tub of balm remover and reached for another to find I had run out of backups I had to grab a quick remover from the local stores, which only carries about 4 options so I picked this two toned wonder up to give a whirl.
It looks pretty snazzy in its clean plastic bottle that allows you to see the separation of blue liquid and clear liquid, you need to give it a good shake before you squeeze out enough to cover a cotton pad, but it quickly goes back to living separately in the bottle after you put it back on the counter. Once a cotton pad is soaked I gently press on the eye area, holding it for 5 seconds before lightly rubbing across. Removing about 80% of the makeup in that one swipe, by the 2nd pad it is all gone except for the faintest under eye smudges from mascara and liner which it picks up on the 3rd and final pad. So 3 cotton pads soaked per eye...seems excessive? and this isn't with the use of waterproof makeup.
I found it pretty tricky to remove waterproof mascara using this remover, it did remove it from my lashes by the 2nd pad but it just transferred it in a smudge under the eye, which took a few extra attempts to completely remover, and still the next morning there was the ever so slight hint of a black smudge, that I don't normally get when I use my normal method of makeup removal.
It is reasonably prices, easily accessible at local supermarkets and doesn't aggravate my skin or eyes so it does a good job, especially for those on a more restricted budget. For me though it just creates another step in my makeup removal that I try to avoid and it took a lot of effort to remove the waterproof makeup. Great for a in-between fix but not a permanent switch for me.
I've tried so many eye makeup removers. Yes, we have the big brands with their big prices. Personally I think this NIVEA one is really good! I do tent to slather on my mascara,, which means a bit of an effort at night to remove it. With a bit of effort, this really does the trick. It might be a tad oily for some ladies.
Tips: I lightly moisten a cotton pad before dispensing this product as I find it slightly oily but it really does work. I hold the eye pad over each eye for a minute, and then wipe off. I will often do a double cleanse but I find that this product doesn't necessarily need that..I just like to check my lashes are really clean.
