I first tried Oasis Beauty Rhino Repair when I got a little sample pottle in the Oasis Beauty GoodieBag that I'd ordered. Little did I know, this miracle cream would become a staple go-to item in our house!
After realising what a gem this product is, I immediately ordered a full sized tube and it's been used on everything from cuts and grazes to chapped, cracked hands, heels and lips, on sebaceous dermatitis and even my poor kitty's nose when he had Cat Flu and his little nose was so dry it looked painful.
The large family-size 150ml squeeze tube has funky ombre burgundy stripes and the cream inside is an off-white colour with a consistency that is neither thick or runny but somewhere in-between. Rhino Repair is easy to spread (even through hair onto a dry scalp) and is absorbed quickly without leaving a greasy residue. The only time there has ever been any kind of residue is when I've accidentally applied too much to one particular area.
The smell of the cream is a little unusual and is probably from the combination of Aloe and Chamomile but I don't find it to be unpleasant, it's just a very herbal smell.
Would I recommend it? Yes, definitely and I bought another 150ml tube this morning! I really do like the fact that this topical lotion can be used on the entire family (FurKids included) for all sorts of ailments and it really works! I feel that it should be an essential item in any home or First Aid Kit.
It's also available in a smaller 50ml "travel sized" tube.
My upper arms tend to get dry and flakey and my normal lotions do a great job at keeping it at bay however I wanted to give Rhino Repair a go since the reviews were amazing. I bought the purple/white tube from Aromatherapy Extracts in Auckland CBD for $39.90 which is pricey but it tends to become trivial once you see the product working its magic.
It's a white semi thick cream that is easily massaged and absorbed into the skin without any film, residue or greasiness left behind. When I tested this out at the store, I didn't like the smell but I didn't pay too much attention to it because I didn't think it would be overpowering.
However I wasn't really prepared for the scent which in hindsight I could take in small doses but since I was applying it to my upper arms the scent rubbed off on my clothes and became too much. It smells like flat chocolate mixed with a faint hint of vanilla and most things vanilla turns my stomach.
The scent aside the product did wonders for my skin. The first week my upper arms remained moisturised until I washed off the cream and I could detect it was still flakey but by the 3rd week it was smooth with no sign of dry skin or flakiness.
I managed to use this for a month until the scent became too much so I passed it onto my cousin who at the time had extremely dry hands (i.e. ashy knuckles and cracked skin).
Within 2 weeks her hands were on the road to recovery and after 2 months they were almost as good as rejuvenated! I would recommend this product to others if they can get past the scent. Alternatively you could always request a sample from Oasis Beauty website or if you're in the area pop down to Aromatherapy Extracts and try it out.
