I have a deluxe sample (5ml) tube which came in an Origins holiday set, this has given me 4 uses with about 1 full face worth left to go.
Packaging, even though I have a deluxe sample it is in fact an exact miniature version of the full size tube which is a plastic type tube with a screw on lid.
Formula of this mask is a creamy type as you sort of use it as a replacement of your night time moisturiser or at least I did as I think putting both on before going to bed would overly congest my skin type. It has a light floral aroma which makes for a pleasant nice sleep. Unlike some overnight masks this one absorbs into your skin without leaving reside or sticky skin so you won’t stick to your pillow. As I have combination skin I didn’t put an inch of this anywhere near my oily t zone area as I knew it would overload it and probably cause breakouts so I stuck to the drier areas of my face that are always looking a little parched. Results from this were quite good, it is important to note that you need to give your skin a cleanse in the morning to rid the skin of the excess that your skin hasn’t needed or you will probably end up with dull skin. I found that on my first night of use the following morning I didn’t see anything amazing my skin felt soft and my complexion appeared brighter but nothing that my normal moisturiser does. Once I had tried it the 2nd time 3 nights later the following day I saw a huge improvement in the drier areas of my face, my foundation wasn’t breaking up and getting cakey by the end of the day as it normally does by the time 7pm comes around. It has helped to balance those areas out and hasn’t overly done so with no reports of breakouts.
I will probably purchase this instead of the Glamglow version I have been using on a monthly basis (the blue container) for this purpose of balancing out the drier areas as the origins version is easily obtainable and cheaper.
I got this one because Origins Masks are raved about and after having success with the Origins Overnight Mask I wanted to have this to try as well. First the pros of this mask. It comes in a 100ml tube for which twice the size of most masks at that price. While some masks like the charcoal one by the same brand don't go as far, this one due to the creamy, hydrating creamy consistency you don't need a lot to spread it all over your face and neck and get the benefits. You can pack it on generously with a foundation brush or your fingers but I still really soft and hydrated skin using about as much as I would for a cream cleanser. It does have a nice apricoty scent and my skin is soft and hydrated after using this. I feel that if I wanted to I could use this overnight as a sleeping mask if I apply less. If the Origins Overnight Intensive Mask was too greasy and thick for your skin this is a good alternative as it does absorb after awhile. It has some algae extract which I think is the Chlorphenesin on the list of ingredients. I do enjoy using this, I've used this after doing peels and it hasn't stung my skin but helped to put the moisture back in. Although if my nose and skin was red and irritated from blowing my nose then this mask stung but so did a lot of other products. Now for the cons, first of all it says it has apricot kernal oil which I can't find on the list of ingredients unless it's Oleic Acid on the list. In fact, here's the ingredients list : Water, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Stearic Acid, Polybutene, Glyceryl Stearate, Oleic Acid, Aminomethyl Propanediol, Acrylates Copolymer, Panthenol, Glycerin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Chlorphenesin, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbic Acid. So as you can see, while you get the impression that you're getting a natural and mostly organic product there isn't much that's natural or organic about the list of ingredients except for maybe three ingredients - Carnauba Wax, Oleic Acid (if that's the apricot kernal oil) and Chlorphenesin, four if you count the water. This is why I gave this product less smooches. Other than that I do enjoy using this mask but I would've liked if it was more natural like it was hyped. But if you don't mind using more synthetic masks and just want something that feels, rich, hydrating and smooth for normal to combination skin this is a good option.
Tips: I like to apply this after a deep cleansing mask or peel to hydrate my skin, I sometimes apply this after I rinse off a clay mask in the shower at the beginning of my shower. You can of course leave this on for longer than ten minutes like overnight and use it as a sleeping mask. If you're a natural skincare junkie and want a natural hydrating mask this isn't mostly natural or organic so keep that in mind. This will suit dry to combination skin but if you have really, really dry skin the Intensive Overnight Mask is probably a better choice and is the same price as this one at the time of this review.
